CHINA TO HELP PIG OWNERS FILL DEMAND FOR DOG EARS

CHINA TO ADD DOG EARS TO GROWING LIST OF U.S. EXPORTS

Pet Smart Stores were not prepared to handle the demand for Southern California's pet pig owners. "I was working the early shift on Saturday when the picket line started to form outside. Their signs read "DOG EARS NOW!" said Ron Mebudhofh who has worked at the Long Beach store for four years.

Pig Ear Doggie Treats Sparked Demand By Pig Owners
Pet Smart spokesperson, John J. Russell, said "we don't like the precedent of carrying a product that will offend the sensitivities of our largest demographic... dog owners. On the other hand, we also don't want to overlook an under served market segment, either. So far the lamb and goat owners have not expressed their concerns about our dog foods, but who knows."

China's Prime Minister, Hu Jintao, who was in the U.S., fielded a question on Thursday from a reporter who had followed the quickly evolving story. "Sir, is there any truth to the rumor that China will begin to export dog ears for America's pet pig owners?"

"I have not heard of any trade agreements to that effect, but we are considering new and unusual requests for products all the time," said Hu. "But I did hear something about a new market for dog tails. Poodle tails make especially nice computer keyboard dusters," said Hu.

Laura Ingraham, conservative radio talk show pesonality, is reported to have acquired a Chinese duster from her hairdresser, but was unavailable for comment.  "It was not a poodle tail," said Sally Skinner at DeVille's on Park Avenue.  "It was a Dalmation," said Skinner who when asked to explain how a two-and-a-half-foot, short-haired Dalmation tail,  that looks more like a whip than a duster, could be used for a duster said, "I don't know."
