Florida Senator Bill Nelson (D) Likes Big Brother While Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton (R) Does Not

Nelson Calls Edward Snowden A Criminal While Cotton Calls the U.S. Secret Service Criminals

by Jedediah D. Knight, CPW News Service

On Monday November 20, 2015 Florida Senator Bill Nelson and Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton found themselves arguing for and against "Big Brother".
"Nelson, who thinks Edward Snowden a criminal instead of a whistle blower, believes that Director of National Intelligence, Mr. James Clapper, should be able to leap frog from telephone call to telephone call indefinitely without having to go to a FISA court, unless the phone surveillance  is of a U.S. citizen," said Director of the citizen watch group BBBLBG or Big Brother Bad, Little Brother Good, Simon Izeh.
"Senator Tom Cotton, on the other hand, said 'In September we learned shocking news that the U.S. Secret Service, armed agents of the Executive,  violated the law to intimidate a Congressman from doing his Constitutional duty.'  This is some scary stuff coming down if you ask me," said Izeh.
"Nelson wants, in the wake of Paris' recent ISIS attack, to stiffen the Patriot Bill provisions, while Cotton is picking up on the strange arrangements that are running around on Capital Hill in the wake of what looks like a political meltdown of common sense," said Izeh.
Izeh believes that common sense in America went AWOL in 2000.   "Yea, Y2K, remember when the sky was falling over the computer meltdown based on a calendar glitch?  Well, duh!  Then, instead of the Florida election being recast to give the semblance of a democratic process it was kicked to the U.S. Supreme Court for a tie-breaker?  What a crock of crap!   You can't really be delighted that Gore lost even if you are died-in-the-wool fiscal conservative because what did Clinton and Gore do in 1999?  They handed the Bush-wackers the repeal of Glass-Steagall that opened the floodgates for the big banks to sell unregulated securities backed by Wall Street equity that was bailed out by the Fed....that's your tax dollars....you bimbos!   That was a repeat of the rape of the S&L's in the 1980's and guess who led that little slight of hand?" said Izeh.

"Our common sense in Washington also went on recess when in 1992 the FinCEN investigation into Saudi influence peddling received a stand down order clearing the way for the infusion of all manner of wackos from the dark side of the 7th Century to slip around like Poncho Villa on a border raid.    Fifteen of the nineteen 911 hijackers get flight training in the U.S., fly up our kazoo and the very FinCEN investigation that we had in place to gig the wackos was on vacation.  So what do we do?  We invade Iraq!  So we are going to trust any of these guys to do our bidding now?  We at BBBLBG believe that it's time for a change.  Now we need a new El Cid and his sidekick Santiago Matamoros.   We are encouraging U.S. Senators Cotton and Nelson to support a bill calling for a war on Saudi Arabia because of its producing 15 of the 19 September 11th hijackers and for their support of the Bin Laden family that produced Osama.  Our bill would use the War Powers Act to provide Saudi Arabia and all the Arab Emirates with an ultimatum to decapitate ISIS in seven days or find the shrines of Mecca and Medina leveled, but with the caveat that the Kabbalah stone may be moved twenty four hours before zero-hour to a safe haven one hundred miles away from either city, but not beyond the range of a cruise missile strike or two.  Because George Walker Bush shared a toddler pacifier with Prince Bandar Bush we are also calling for the World Court at the Hague to put both "Princes" on trial for war crimes," said Izeh.
Mohammed Ibrahim of Baghdad's citizen watchdog group, WTTPOL &KGN &WTH&M?,  or Where's The Thousand Points of Light & Kinder Gentler Nation and Winning the Hearts and Minds? asked that the World Court reach into the streets of Baghdad and other Iraqi cities for vivid accounts of just why ISIS evolved as a new Middle East boogieman as Al Qaeda had evolved from Charlie Wilson's War on Russia in Afghanistan.  "It seems to me that war is a racket and a very profitable one for the weapons manufacturers," said Ibrahim.
"Admiral John Poindexter said 'The reality is,'  .....I love that little term.....'the reality is'....whose realty?  Whose wisdom?  'The reality is, intelligience or direct action only buys you space it rarely solves your problem on its own and if political leaders don't have the wherewithal, the courage or whatever it takes to use the space you get into this loop where you get to kill people forever,'" Simon Izeh recalled Poindexter saying in the recent documentary The Spymasters: CIA In The Crosshairs.
"That baldheaded impish brat of an Admiral Poindexter said it with a little shit-eatin' grin on his face and at that point you knew that he was describing what General Smedley Darlington Butler called "the racket of war".  Endless war, the machinery of chugging out bullets and body parts.  The reason that Japan didn't need their Sun God's palace bombed is because they got the message and became pacifists after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  We are now forcing them out of that role to help defend the Pacific from Chinese aggression because we are loosing our world prominence.  ISIS and terroristic fundamentalist Islam are not Japan in that their Kamikaze pilots aren't limited to bomb laden Zeros, but to suicide vests in the middle of civilian soft targets.  They have leapfrogged the tactics of the last great enemy of democratic societies and are gaining strength from the silence of their lowlife leaders and the silence of their highlife leaders at Mecca and Medina while the Poindexters and his friends manipulate the U.S. and worldwide politicians to keep the wars going.  Would Douglas McArthur do that?  Patton?  Hell no!" said Izeh.  "They would bring an end to war by victory, but Western society has at the same time an obligation to remove from its own society the putrid elements of corruption and decadence that has led us to where we are and left yellow cake crumbs on our collective lips," said Izeh.
Izeh sees no contradiction in his call for a two-part Saudi Arabia divided by Shiia and Sunnis, north and south.  "Taking terrorist leaders to Guantanamo where they are held without recourse and as with the strange hanging suicides all on the same day in 2006 is not humane.  It would be much more humane to have two large reservations in Saudi Arabia where, within the limits of the reservation's system of rules and justice, they have relative freedom to do as they wish except to travel freely to other parts of the globe to export terror," said Izeh who wishes to export Sioux, Cheyenne, Navaho, Apache and Blackfoot nation representatives to act as liaisons to help the Saudi Arabians adjust to their new environments.

Aussies' Filmkritiker dauert Square One Entertainment Al Munteanu zielen

Truth Goes Down Under am 3. Dezember.

Tyco .....

Guter Gott, ya'all ", sagte Pezonus," was für ein Durcheinander! "

Amerikanischen Reporter, Alexander DeLarge, stimmte Pezonus. "Das sind feine Artikeln, die Zwiebel der 'Rathergate' Geschichte zurück schälen, aber so war mein Artikel über die gleiche Geschichte, Dan Rather'S CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

Stephanie Bunbury, Sydney, Austrailia Misses Point of Dan Rather Film

Truth Goes Down Under on December 3rd.

by Robert "Dingo" Gibson, CPW News Service

Australian movie critic Stephanie Bunbury of the Sydney Morning Herald has bought the Truth storyline of the James Vanderbilt and Robert Redford film about the Dan Rather and Mary Mapes' 2004 George W. Bush Texas Air National Guard memos investigation hook, line and sinker.
Truth is based on Mary Mapes' book, Truth and Duty, which admits that she was aware of the story known to some Texans since the Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes,  had provided a deposition in 2000 indicating that he had written a letter initially influencing the Texas Air National Guard appointment in 1968.   This led to Col. Jerry Killian's original memos registering his concerns about GWB's performance in the Guard.
"Mapes says she first learned about it in 1999, but did not report on it because her mother died in 2000," said Peter Pezonus, an independent U.S. reporter.  "Mothers die, but our work goes on....must go on.  Remember Year 2000?  Y2K?  Why not use that as the excuse?  Everyone was worried about a major computer meltdown that didn't happen.   Instead the U.S. political process melted down in Florida and the un-lanced and festering memo story,  as important as it was, was not reported or handed off from Mapes and Rather in 2000 when the American people needed courage in its leadership like never before.  The Forth Estate was, therefore, asleep at the switch...AWOL, like Bush, if you will," said Pezonus.
What did we get from the experience?  We got a Supreme Court decision that put Bush in the White House and Al Gore from the Clinton/Gore administration which had given the U.S. the 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act.   That legislation had been implemented as a response to the Great Depression as a muzzle on corporate and banking malfeasance gone wild....essentially forcing the Don Juans of Wall Street's investment houses from copulating with the usurious nymphomaniacs of the big banks.
Clinton and Gore handed off to GWB and his VP, Dick Cheney, a nation that with essentially with no fire-wall for what was to come.   What was to come was 911, Enron, WorldCom....Tyco.....war racketeering based on the yellow cake bamboozle.....a $60 billion dollar war morphing into a multi-trillion-dollar war and the 2008 financial meltdown that Glass-Steagall had eliminated with a simple and responsible partition between banks and Wall Street.  Actually ninety-five percent of U.S. banks were solvent at the time by avoiding the Wall Street Black Scholes credit default metrics that provided the bamboozling justification for the housing bubble.
After the 2000 election, Al Gore hit the lecture circuit touting the global warming debate and politicizing it by his mere personal history as a big government Democrat who saw carbon credits as the answer to clean air and water. He is not a scientist.  There IS NO debate.  Pezonus appears correct.  The verdict is in and the mass of scientists tell us fossil fuel is choking the planet.  This is too important to our collective future to politicize it.
So Gore sells his television station to the Arabs using their oil money in 2013.  Was this in hopes of Al Jazeera reporting on the three suicides of terrorist detainees at Guantanamo in 2006....all dying on the same day and we wonder why we are where we are?  Not exactly, Harper's Magazine did that in 2010 as reported in the article "Hiding Murder".  It was a Gallipoli not by accident, but by design!  Only the whole world is pinned down on the beaches by our own ignorance," said Pezonus.
"Yea, so Al Jazeera opens its offices in Washington's Newseum where in 2015 the yellow cake salesman, a Stephen-like character from Tarantino's movie D'Jango Unchained, General Colin Powell, along with General George Casey appear at the premier of the Brad Pitt film Fury that celebrates the rejection of the Geneva Conventions when Pitt's character shows a green recruit how to shoot a Nazi prisoner in the back.  Good God, ya'all," said Pezonus, "what a mess!"

"Stephanie Branbury needs to rewrite her review of Truth for the Austrailian people.   There is little Truth in it....the review or the film.   She needs to read and reread TRUTH AND DUTY, GARY WEBB, PETE BREWTON AND ANOTHER BUSH BAMBOOZLE by James A. Baker," said Pezonus.
Pezonus also suggested that Australians should follow up that reading by the article TRUTH IN SEARCH OF A UNICORN by Buckley Wright Bragg.
American reporter, Alexander DeLarge, agreed with Pezonus.    "These are fine articles that peel back the onion of the 'Rathergate' story, but so was my article on the same story, DAN RATHER'S CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

Hiding Murder

The Guantanamo Suicides June 9, 2006
Excerpts from The Guantánamo "Suicides": A Camp Delta sergeant blows the whistle by Scott Horton, Harper's March 2010

by Winsip Custer, CPW News Service

Most Americans have little knowledge of the June 9, 2006 triple suicides of Guantanamo detainees, but the shocking story was presented in Harper's March 2010 publication stating:

According to the NCIS documents, each prisoner had fashioned a noose from torn sheets and T-shirts and tied it to the top of his cell’s eight-foot-high steel-mesh wall. Each prisoner was able somehow to bind his own hands, and, in at least one case, his own feet, then stuff more rags deep down into his own throat. We are then asked to believe that each prisoner, even as he was choking on those rags, climbed up on his washbasin, slipped his head through the noose, tightened it, and leapt from the washbasin to hang until he asphyxiated. The NCIS report also proposes that the three prisoners, who were held in non-adjoining cells, carried out each of these actions almost simultaneously.

This incredulous example of prisoner mistreatment that eclipses the Abu Ghraib story in its sheer brutality is explained:

One of the most intriguing aspects of this case concerns the use of Camp No. Under George W. Bush, the CIA created an archipelago of secret detention centers that spanned the globe, and authorities at these sites deployed an array of Justice Department–sanctioned torture techniques—including waterboarding, which often entails inserting cloth into the subject’s mouth—on prisoners they deemed to be involved in terrorism. The presence of a black site at Guantánamo has long been a subject of speculation among lawyers and human-rights activists, and the experience of Sergeant Hickman and other Guantánamo guards compels us to ask whether the three prisoners who died on June 9 were being interrogated by the CIA, and whether their deaths resulted from the grueling techniques the Justice Department had approved for the agency’s use—or from other tortures lacking that sanction.

The Harper's story by Scott Horton lays open the possibility that it was not just CIA misdeeds, but the evolution of Guantanamo Bay prisoner maintenance may include the gelatinous assembly of U.S. Special Forces elites into what has become known as JSOC, the Joint Special Operations Command:

Complicating these questions is the fact that Camp No might have been controlled by another authority, the Joint Special Operations Command, which Bush’s defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, had hoped to transform into a Pentagon version of the CIA. Under Rumsfeld’s direction, JSOC began to take on many tasks traditionally handled by the CIA, including the housing and interrogation of prisoners at black sites around the world. The Pentagon recently acknowledged the existence of one such JSOC black site, located at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, and other suspected sites, such as Camp Nama in Baghdad, have been carefully documented by human-rights researchers.

Horton's story in Harper's reveals a program of cover-up that has traditionally been carried out in CIA circles to throw suspicion away from blatant, intentional and orchestrated human rights abuses that breed resentment and foster anti-American sentiments that provide the basis for the continuing evolution of the "racket of war" not unlike those exposed by the Church Commission.   Horton's article continues:

In the weeks following the 2006 deaths, the Justice Department decided to use the suicide narrative as leverage against the Guantánamo prisoners and their troublesome lawyers, who were pressing the government to justify its long-term imprisonment of their clients.

In a world increasingly concerned about terrorist actions in the developed nations, the Guantanamo triple suicides raise the issue of mistreatment and cover-up of death with a suicide narrative like those believed by many to have been used not against foreign terrorists but against peace loving and loyal U.S. citizens like Mark Lomardi and Patrick Carr in 2000, Gary Webb in 2004 and of Col. Theodore "Ted" Westhusing in 2005.

Note: During the Bay of Pigs, Guantanamo's top intelligence officers were USN Commander Harold "Hal" Feeney and Ens. John H. "Jack" Modesett, both from Corpus Christi, Texas (Harold Feeney, "Bay of Pigs Remembered," NIP Quarterly, Fall 1988).  Modesett's post-Guantanamo experiences will be extensively covered in the 1992 book by Peter Brewton, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush.
In 2014 two reporters from Miami New Times published an article on the connection of Texas race car drivers, Bill & Don Whittington, to Guantanamo.  The Whittingtons were convicted of drug smuggling along with Corpus Christi resident and son of the Levitz Furniture Company founder, his heir, Gary Levitz.  One of the authors on the Guantanamo story was Terrence McCoy who has since become a James Aronson Award recipient for the Washington Post.   McCoy has also written for The Atlantic as a Gordon Grey Fellow at Columbia University's School of Journalism.  McCoy has written about the impact of the ripoff of structured settlements for lead paint poisoning in Baltimore, a contrived health epidemic that affected the life of  Baltimore police brutality victim, Freddie Gray.   The story of lead in fueling war profits and the U.S. military industry's use of lead in ancillary products is as sordid as big tobacco's connections to public health hazards and is even related to the family of Scott Shuger the Slate.com journalist who wrote IGNORAD, a scathing critique of  NORAD and the U.S. preparedness in confronting the 911 attack on the World Trade Center.  Shuger also died a mysterious death in California.

Lead was incorporated in U.S. paint just as it was as a gasoline additive for fifty years after it was banned as a health hazard in Europe.  Baltimore was home to the Brown's Merchant Shot Tower where the first Fugitive Slave Law test cast of James Hamlet was focused.  James Hamlet worked at the Brown's Tower making lead musket balls.   Not far away was "Misery Plantation" where Frederick Douglass was "rendition" before being returned to the South and before he became the leading spokesman for abolition of slavery.  "Misery Plantation was purchased by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld who also co-owned with CBS anchorman, Dan Rather, the Tecolote Ranch in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  Lead paint was the subject of a Winsip Custer report linking its use to the Cold War  farcical use of white leaded paint as a hedge against nuclear attack at the same time the U.S. promoted the MAD Theory of "mutually assured destruction."   Was Terrence McCoy's upward mobility following the Miami New Times article on Guantanamo the bridling of a truly probing and investigative mind?  Gary Webb's treatment by the Washington Post and Columbia Journalism's power elites and his warning about what can happen to bright and probing award winning reporters would so indicate!  "McCoy's future as an investigative journalist will depend on his willingness to follow his editor's dictates at the Washington Post as have Coll, Leen and Loeb," said one Washington Post critic.

Peter Brewton's investigation into the Terlingua Ranch connection to John H. "Jack" Modesett  and Great Western Corporation was confirmed by author Jack Stone and by Securities & Exchange Commission records.  Peter Brewton admitted that he missed this important connection when writing his 1992 book on the S&L scandal's connection to the Iran-Contra operation in Texas.

from:  Every Man Dies, Not Every Man Lives by Jack R. Stone,
iUniverse Press, 2010, p. 99.

John R. "Jack" Modesett and Harold "Hal" Feeney's business relationship included Great Western Corporation and the Terlingua property that Brewton had identified dated to the early 1960's with development in the 70's, but Brewton will establish through multiple interviews in West Texas a relationship with Modesett that extends a decade or more longer.  He interviewed the Terlingua airport builder as well.
Harvie Branscomb was the son of the former Chancellor of Vanderbilt University.....Cornelius Vanderbilt's school..... whose ancestors include both CNN's news correspondent, Anderson Cooper, and Hollywood director of the Rather/Mapes film Truth released in October 2015, James Vanderbilt.  Branscomb was also a trustee of the Una Chapman Cox Foundation that funds educational and recreational venues for career U.S. State Department professionals.  Harvie Branscomb, Charles Thomasson, heir of the Caterpillar Company, Peter Holt and newspaper publisher, Ed Harte, who together with his brother, Houston Harriman Harte, had donated 66,000 acres near Terlingua, Texas in Big Bend National Forest to the state of Texas along with $46 million to the Texas A&M University for ocean research, had all been Commodores of the Corpus Christi Yacht Club.
Following his tenure in Houston investigating the Harris County Medical Examiner's crime lab, the leading prosecutor in the Iran-Contra investigation, Michael Bromwich, would become the nation's chief watchman over the offshore drilling initiatives that heavily impact the Texas Gulf Coast, but also Louisiana.... including the Deep Water Horizon debacle.  Author, Jack Stone, had been the longtime head of the Texas Departments of Parks and Wildlife with its close association to fishing, game, drilling and wilderness land use like that influenced by developments controlled by Modesett and his associates at Great Western and often with the necessary support of the Army Corp of Engineers.

Great Western and Terlingua Ranch Co. shared the address at 200 Wilson Tower.
According to the SEC record above and John Stone's book, Harvie Branscomb,
Charles W. Thomasson, John H. "Jack" Modesett and  John E. Nisbet, VP,  were
primary personalities in the companies.  Peter Brewton's son, Mark Brewton, an attorney, would
go to work for Harvie Branscomb's San Antonio law firm beginning in 2003.
(Article above from SEC News Digest, Issue No. 70-66, April 6, 1970, p. 5).
Brewton wrote (p. 96): "Houston real estate investor Jack Modesett, who had backed Ed Baker, the con man alledgedly burned to death in his Jaguar, and had done business with Howard Pulver, headed the company that owned the Terlingua Ranch.  Modesett, who is noted for teaching a popular Sunday School class at First Presbyterian Church in Houston and whose father was in the oil business with Joseph Kennedy, denied any knowledge of the landing strip."   The connection to the Kennedy patriarch was reported by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times (July 23, 1973).  Brewton had doggedly tracked down the connections that Modesett denied.   Brewton confirmed his findings through Modesett associate William McNair and the contractor who built the CIA airport at Terlingua, Sonny Stillwell.  Brewton went so far as to consult a former Pentagon criminal investigator, Gene Wheaton, about whom Brewton wrote (p. 97)...."claims the landing strip was part of a nationwide private secret operation that trafficked in guns and drugs trained Central American merceneries and hit men."

This region of West Texas from San Antonio to El Paso that produced FBI Director, William Sessions, also delivered William B. Hurd as Texas' first black Congressman.  Hurd had been the student body president at Texas A&M when in 1999 its bonfire collapsed killing twelve including eleven students in what some called a "bonfire of the vanities".  Hurd spent nine years in the CIA and then went to work for the Crumpton Group created by Hank Crumpton, also CIA.   Crumpton was the U.S. State Department's coordinator for counter terrorism appointed by Condaleezza Rice.  "With these connections to both the CIA and FBI focused on this region of West Texas you'd think that a Mena-type airport there would have been shut down by the FBI who we always assumed along with the ATF and the like protected the homeland, but as we learned with the quick exit of the Bin Ladens out of the U.S. after 911 and the 1992 stand down on the FinCEN investigation into Saudi influence peddling the U.S. and this region is filled with a whole lot more than rattlesnakes.  The CIA trumps the FBI even within in the U.S. borders," said Fabian Colbachi an independent U.S. investigative reporter who has followed the story.  Colbachi has expressed special concern since the passing in 1982 the Intelligence Officers Identity Disclosure Act sponsored by Texas Senator Lloyd Bentsen that makes it a crime to talk about the CIA even when the information is already in the public domain.   "Move over Joseph Goebbels," said Colbachi.
Colbachi says that the history of the 23rd Congressional District of Texas is the key to understanding the airport at Terlingua.  From 1967 to 1985 Abraham Kazen was the U.S. Congressman.  Kazen was not of Hispanic origin, but Lebanese from Laredo, Texas.  "This region has had organic ties beyond the Hispanic culture directly to the Middle East as evidenced by the Chagra family from El Paso, hell, the richest man in Mexico is Lebanese, Carlos Slim is like Kazen, a Lebanese Maronite Catholic, the Chagras were Lebanese and in their case the weapons and drug smugglers who hired Charles Harrelson to kill San Antonio's Judge John Howland Wood on his driveway on May 29, 1979.  The Republican suburbs of San Antonio have historically provided the bulk of the Republican votes for this district as evidenced by the later election of Henry Bonilla who is now with the Normandy Group along with Louis Dupart who was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Inter-American Affairs at the Department of Defense for Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney.  Bonilla took heat for proposing that the grand jury indictment of Tom DeLay didn't matter and that he should keep his position as Speaker of the House.  DeLay's brother would be working to merge the Union Pacific Railroad and the Southern Pacific Railroads over criticism of a monopoly with the history of these two rail lines going back to the Civil War and the battle over the first rail route to the Pacific and the China Trade beyond.   "The Northern victors kept the rail across the Midwest to the Northeast and stalled the Southern route that Jeff Davis had laid out in the 1850's so there it is over a hundred years later being consolidated with help from Randy DeLay, Tom's brother," said Colbachi.   This wide open region has a long history that seemingly enticed novelist Cormac McCormack to write of it in No Country For Old Men just as he had done in Blood Meridian with its focus on a corrupt Judge Holden and the real historic figure and a brutal scalp hunter from San Antonio, John Joel Glanton," said Colbachi.  "Congressman Kazen's brother, George Kazen, was U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Texas who was succeeded by Corpus Christi's Judge Hayden Head and Houston's Judge David Hittner who was assigned to hear the testimony of Robert Corson, son-in-law of Walter Mischer, whom Brewton claims also controlled the Terlingua airport and notes that Corson died in route to the Hittner court before he could give testimony....kind of like Barry Seal in Baton Rouge," said Colbachi.  "When it was brought to Brewton's attention that it was not Walter Mischer or his son-in-law, Robert Corson, who actually controlled the secret CIA landing strip at Terlingua/Lajitas, Texas, but Great Western's galaxy of personalities....Branscomb, Modesett, Feeney, Nisbet and Thomasson....Brewton responded "How did I miss that?"  In fairness, Jack Stone's book had not been written until 2010, though a simple analysis of the Texas incorporation records for Great Western would have, should have, been made showing the obvious ties.
Brewton went even further in supplementing Gene Wheaton's validation (p. 91) about the Terlingua airport like that in Mena, Arkansas.  "A West Texas law enforcement officer, a longtime federal agent who patrolled the Rio Grande area for years, former Pentagon criminal investigator Gene Wheaton, and veteran CIA contract pilot Robert 'Tosh' Plumlee all have confirmed Brenneke's description of the purpose of the landing strip: a CIA transshipment point for guns and drugs into and out of Latin America."  Brenneke is Richard Breneke who was a key witness in the Iran-Contra and Kerry Commission hearing, but there were also two West Texas police officers who feared for their jobs at the time who asked for anonymity, but confirmed that the Terlingua airport was a secret CIA base. No one has ever challenged Brewton's research on the Terlingua base and its ties to the dark world of secret U.S. drug and weapons shipments like that at Mena, Arkansas run by Barry Seal, but Brewton does not mention the ties of the secret Terlingua, Texas CIA airport to Harvie Branscomb who was, according to the documentation available, inclusive of Branscomb's ties to Modesett whom Brewton covers thoroughly in The Mafia, CIA and George Bush
Brewton's report of Ed Baker's death by automobile fire brought out the connection of two other automobile fire deaths related to both Corpus Christi's and Houston's dark alliances, Patrick Carr and Sean Dubose, which Winsip Custer covered in the article Truth In Search of A Unicorn.
The head of JSOC, Admiral William McRaven, was the subject of Jeremy Scahill's documentary Dirty Wars and is now the Chancellor of the University of Texas.
In 2004, Dan Rather and Mary Mapes reported on the Abu Ghraib prison scandal under Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.  At the time, Rather co-owned with Rumsfeld the Tecolote or "Owl" Ranch in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  Rumsfeld also owned the Misery Plantation in Maryland where the abolitionist, Frederick Douglass, had been "renditioned".  Also in 2004 Dan Rather and Mary Mapes delivered on CBS' 60 Minutes what became known as "Rathergate" the subject of the 2015 film Truth by Director, James Vanderbilt.
Rather and Mapes' story, released on October 16, 2015 received criticism from several quarters, not least of which was the father of a young man who died near Houston's Ellington Field on the anniversary of Gary Webb's resignation from the San Jose Mercury News and Webb's two-shot to the head "suicide" on December 10, 2004.  The young man, same name as the son of the key witness in the "Rathergate" story,  Mrs. Marian Carr Knox, Pat Carr, died near Ellington Field on December 10, 2000 after having worked in Austin, Texas with the company of Dan Rather's neice, Rebecca Rather.
Scott Horton presented an interview on the three simultaneous 2006 Guantanamo "suicides" on KAOS Radio, Austin, Texas an alternative anti-war media station in Austin that was shut down by the FCC for exceeding its power limits.  Allowed to reopen, the anti-war radio station with the seemingly incongruent call letters "KAOS" had to limit its broadcasting to 100 yards from its antenna.  Appearances on KAOS would, therefore, provide the image of solidarity with the anti-war movement, but with minimum effect.
Horton's work on Guantanamo was assisted by the Seton Hall Law School in Newark, New Jersey.  Seton Hall is the alma mater of Judge George J. Terwilliger who was Edwin Meece's primary assistant in containing the damage of the Iran-Contra debacle particularly in Jeff Leen's home town of Miami.  Seton Hall is also the alma mater of Dennis Kozlowski the imprisoned head of Tyco who had succeeded at Tyco the husband of Director of the Houston Contemporary Art Museum's where Mark Lombardi worked. Lombardi, the  graphic artist who traced the Iran-Contra connections and died of a self-inflicted hanging like the Guatanamo trio,  worked with the "father of post-modern literature" whose widow became Mrs. Marion Knox Barthelme Fort, marrying John Franklin Fort, III, the ex-CEO of Tyco.   Most recently Tyco's former CEO, now CEO of Dupont, Ed Breen, has announced the merger of DuPont and Dow Chemical, both companies with strong ties to the Texas Petrochemical industry and military munnitions production.
Horton is an attorney and Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Law, on the campus with the former Washington Post Editor, Steve Coll, now the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism and Chair of the Columbia Journalism School, a colleague of Horton, who at the Washington Post oversaw the work of  Jeff Leen and Vernon Loeb, the Metro Editor.  Loeb's WP articles included the embellished coverage on the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch stories.  Horton's appearance on Democracy Now with the CIA's chief legal counsel, John Rizzo, was, according to Fabian Colbachi, a "non-debate debate."   "I don't really know where Horton stands on the subject of CIA misdeeds," said Colbachi noting his writing for Lewis Lapham whose brother was also a CIA lawyer and attorney for Adolfo Calero.
Vernon Loeb, now the Editor of the Houston Chronicle, also co-wrote with Paula Broadwell, All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.  Coll, Leen by association with Coll and Loeb, Horton and McCoy are now associated with Colombia University with its longstanding connections to the evolution of "applied psychology", "applied sociology" and what is now, quite obviously, "applied journalism".
Jeff Leen and the University of Missouri's Professor Emeritus of Journalism, Steve Weinberg, led the 1997 debate between Jeff Leen and Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance who resigned from the San Jose Mercury News on December 10, 1997 and died from two gunshot wounds to the head on December 10, 2004 at his home in California.  The medical examiner ruled his death a suicide.  His story became the subject of the 2015 film, Kill The Messenger
Scott Horton is also a contributing editor to Harper's, the oldest continuously printed magazine in the U.S. whose former editor, Lewis Lapham, is the producer of the documentary, The American Ruling Class.   Lewis Lapham is the brother of Tony Lapham, the former chief legal council for the Central Intelligence Agency and who following his work at CIA became the defense attorney for Iran-Contra figure Adolfo Calero.
Lewis Lapham, whose grandfather was the Mayor of San Francisco and whose family owned the American-Hawaiian Steamship line which like AIG's founder Cornelius Vander Starr and the Pacific Mail & Steamship Company serviced the U.S. China Trade.  Lewis Lapham is an erudite ruling class insider, but often unbridled and sharply focused critic of U.S. imperialism whose mailing lists from both Harper's and Lapham's Quarterly could likely provide a solid accounting of the present order's left and right ideologues of its well-managed dialectic.   Lapham, now with Lapham's Quarterly, is particularly outspoken in his appreciation of the historic quality of Harper's stories.   Those stories included the first serialized publication of Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick about the mindless pursuit of a gigantic white whale that leads to great calamity for the guilty and innocent alike while reminding Melville's New England benefactors and readers that the smallest and largest ships never sink without the captain's quarters.  -WC

No Class: Melissa Click, Walter Cronkite, Lewis Lapham and Steve Weinberg

Walter Cronkite's wife's Alma Mater Not Clicking For Human Rights and Free Speech

Lewis Lapham’s 2005 Documentary, The American Ruling Class, Key To Understanding Death of Fourth Estate In The U.S.A.

Upton S. Packard

by Upton Sinclair Packard, CPW News Service

The University of Missouri's Assistant Professor of Communication, Melissa Click and Steve Weinberg are showing signs of a journalistic bamboozling.

When Louis Lapham, former editor of Harper’s Magazine, produced the 2005  documentary,  The American Ruling Class, and introduced a young Yale graduate to Walter Cronkite and Kurt Vonnegut the student bound for a banking and investing job at Goldman Sacks in the freewheeling post Glass-Steagall repeal era of deregulation that resulted in the 2008 financial crisis, meltdown and bailout, Cronkite made it clear.  There is a ruling class.  He did not say, however, that some, perhaps most, within it had manipulated everything from the stock market to the media and the young Yale grad when he asks of Cronkite…..”Should I wish to join it?” Cronkite said “By all means!

Of course, it's laughable that Lewis Lapham is doing a critique of the American ruling class when his family of shipping magnates are from San Francisco.  They profited from the China Trade as had the Peabody, Cabot and Lodge families not to mention Cushings, Russells and Huntingtons.  The  Union General Morgan Lewis Smith, who had overseen the pacification of the South in Texas after William Tecumseh Sherman secured the San Francisco railhead before twisting the South's envisioned eastern transcontinental terminus and its rails into pretzels, would become a U.S. Counsel to Hawaii.   It was an important connection to China and California and the rest of the world before the Panama Canal was built.  The Lapham family had owned the Hawaii-Alaskan Shipping Company, his grandfather was San Francisco's Mayor," said Shirley Locke Holmes who noted that Lewis Lapham like many others within the ruling class serve a dialectic without upsetting the order by articulating for the masses what they cannot (and should not) articulate (and heaven forbid... physically resist) for themselves.  "While the Heard & Company's opium cutter, The Frolic, sank north of San Francisco in 1850 not far from the U.S. Army fort named for General Braxton Bragg whose brother was the Confederacy's Attorney General and both sharing the family name of William Tecumseh Sherman's business partner in California, George C. Bragg,  by 1924, J.E. Cushing the Vice-President of the Hawaii-Alaskan shipping company was speaking of the high cost of shipping in the Pacific relative to the British whose trade agreements with David Sassoon led to China's Opium Wars while acknowledging that the Japanese cost of shipping was even less than the British."
Indeed, Lewis Lapham who speaks often of his San Francisco history does not delve into the American-Hawaiian Steamship Company's connections to John Cushing whose father was the close friend of John Muir and in whose Muir Woods in Marin County has an amphitheater named for Cushing's father.  Muir's travels sometimes included friend Harvey Firestone, Henry Ford and William Burroughs as well as Cushing.  Associated with John Cushing who had been President of the American-Hawaiin company was William Bush, vice-president of the American President Lines which had been the Pacific Mail and Steamship Company before 1848 (James W. Hamilton and William J. Bolce, Jr.’s book Gateway to Victory: The Wartime Story of the San Francisco Army Port of Embarkment, Stanford University Press, 1946, p. 5).  If Missouri....St. Louis specifically.....was the "Gateway to the West," then San Francisco was the "Golden Gateway to the Orient".

"Now we learn that the semi-sacred and traditionally near-sacerdotal Fourth Estate of the U.S.A. which Benjamin Franklin would use to fuel dissent in America against the despotism of the English Crown is protecting through its professor proxies a system like the old Soviet Union’s Pravda.  The task is clearly to arrest and anesthetize development, not to promote it.

“We should have seen it coming when in 1997 the University of Missouri’s Journalism Professor, Steve Weinberg, moderated the debate between Jeff Leen, then of the Miami Herald and now with Washington Post and Gary Webb.   Leen and Weinberg are journalistic bamboozlers like Woodward and Bernstein who brought down a President without citing a single source,” said freelance investigative reporter, Shirley Locke Holmes who had watched and re-watched Gary Webb’s debate, the reporter whose 1996 book Dark Alliance and his complementary work at the San Jose Mercury News is the subject of the 2015 film, Kill The Messenger.  “Suppose the four dead students in Ohio were not Nixon's doing, whose mother was a Quaker and whose daughter was married to the grandson of a General who warned against the Military Industrialist Complex like Smedley Darlington Butler and Henry Van Ness Boynton had done before, but from a darker force and heart of darkness, perhaps projecting from the assembly of the forty dead Union Generals buried by their mentor in Cincinnati's nearby Spring Grove Cemetery, Alphonso Taft.*  What if Nixon was ending the Vietnam War by bombing Cambodia, holding out the olive branch of peace in Paris, but because he hated the Bohemian power elites and wanted peace, was run out of office on a well-buttered, but anonymously buttered, rail?
Then you would expect to find a thread running from Kent State, or at least Spring Grove and Alphonso, to Mizzou's journalism department?  What?  There is in St. Louis George Herbert Walker's legacy and Charles Lindberg's legacy at Lambert Field....Lindberg being part of the 1930's "business plotters" that included some of the ruling class' far-right leading rulers?  Former CIA agent, John Stockwell, a University of Texas graduate, said of Watergate and the rank and file CIA agents there at the time, were saying among themselves...."What? A break-in?  We do three of those before breakfast!"  Ending wars is not in the U.S. ruling class' vocabulary as evidenced by their use of the media to do what Noam Chomsky said was their mission....."fuel consent for wars" and which Stockwell described as his major mission at CIA...."finding enemies."   This was the criticism from the Tillman and Lynch families of the reporting on their stories by the Washington Post.  It is as sound a thesis as Lapham's assessment of the education system in the U.S....."if it has taken this long to fix it, they don't want it fixed.  It's a mess by design."

Fueling consent for war, then, was a part of the Founding Father's (and mother's) original vision of the American dream, but to fight tyranny, not expand it, but that dream was usurped in 1833 as the forty Union Generals in Spring Grove bear witness.  It was into that grave pile that Gary Webb was actually digging, not to mention the other reporter to whom Webb referred in the Weinberg/Leen debate at IRE (Investigative Reporters and Editors 1997 debate at 42:30), Peter Brewton, Professor of Journalism at Texas Tech University (author of The Mafia, CIA and George Bush.   Brewton's book was originally assigned by Simon & Schuster Woodward & Bernstein's editor, Alice Mayhew, before they pulled the plug on it just before the 1992 election, the same year that the FinCEN investigation pulled the plug on James R. Bath's Saudi and BCCI connections).  Webb's reference to his conversation with Brewton sent Jeff Leen into mumbling with charges of "conspiracy theory" and Weinberg clearly comes to Leen's defense against Webb throughout the supposedly impartial assembly.
Was the U.S. Civil War, given Alphonso's grave assembly in Ohio, fought for something other than the high road of abolition of slavery?   The short period of Reconstruction and the unending War on Drugs the source for which Webb was hot on the trail of uncovering, screams out a resounding "yes".  We should not be surprised in discovering that the vestiges of this corruption is in the heart of the nation.....Columbia, Missouri.
There was fire in Ms. Click’s eyes on the Mizzou quad on November 10th.   It was like she wanted to kill the reporters for reporting…..essentially killing the messengers.   She did not shoot them like Neal and Linden Blue's business partner in Nicaragua, Anastasio Samoza, did when his National Guardsman shot and killed CBS reporter and Walter Cronkite news profession colleague from ABC news, Bill Stewart, on June 20, 1979 when Stewart returned from Iran to Nicaragua and had perhaps done some serious leg-work on the growing possibility of a Iran-Contra connections in both countries.   Had Ms. Click's example been followed in 1979, Stewart's cameraman would have missed Bill Stewart's fatal head shot....or if the Yale educated Blue brothers had already invented their Predator and Reaper drones and put them in Samoza's greedy and grubby hands. Do we need a similar event at the quad at Mizzou or at the Washington Post offices?  Columbia University in New York?” asked Shirley Locke Holmes.
“Ms. Click, Professor Emeritus Weinberg,  Jeff Leen, and you might add the Washington Post’s former Metro Editor whose work approved the altered stories of Lt. Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch, who was co-author with Paula Broadwell of All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, Vernon Loeb, is now a type of journalistic firewaller, as is Loeb in the capital city of the fossil fuel empire, Houston, Texas.  These are simply bamboozling bimbologists," said Holmes, noting "but their handlers are smart enough to import the legal firewaller in the Iran-Contra case, Michael Bromwich,  to investigate the Houston medical examiner's office when it turned to mush....a license to kill like 007....and Lewis Lapham's brother was, after leaving the CIA as its chief attorney the attorney for Adolfo Calero!  How chummy," said Holmes.
"Don’t forget that while Walter Cronkite went to Mizzou and the University of Texas it seems equally important to the big journalistic bamboozle that New York’s Columbia University is where Leen and Loeb’s boss at the Washington Post, Steve Coll, is now the new Dumbledore as the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism and Chair of the  Columbia Journalism School.  That means that while Lewis Lapham was showing around his young Yale friend in the documentary The American Ruling Class, the son of Columbia University's Robert Merton the 'Father of Applied Sociology,'  also named Robert Merton  and the Harvard economist, was cranking out his Black Scholes metric formulations for which he won a Nobel Prize that tanked his own hedge fund, the U.S. economy based on the accompanying credit default swaps, that led to the 2008 bailout using the under-class taxpayers sovereign dollars,” said Holmes.  "The American dream doesn't just trickle down from above, it's pushed up from below and the dream is advanced on the roads laid by the masses....kind of like Henry Ford's autos that have depended on tax payer-paid roads to keep their engines from jumping off their motor mounts.  I know that Ford said 'If I had asked the American people what they wanted they'd have said 'a faster horse'', but yesterday's new insight is tomorrow's problem," said Holmes noting that Ford's company had made strides in hydrogen fuel-cell technology that was initially tauted, then dropped, by the Bush administration.
"When the myth becomes the reality, print the myth," said Holmes noting a well-known cliché in journalistic circles. "Today the mythology is being run like a well-watered camel through the eye of a very small needle and the Catch-22 of the Slaughterhouse Five is becoming the five thousand, fifty-thousand of young people marching along the Blood Meridian in an ever-evolving country for all men and women where the interim Ruling Class, as history has taught us that all ruling classes are,  has definitely lost its class.  As has Professor Click."

*Spring Grove Cemetery did not publicize the forty Union Generals buried near Alphonso Taft until the connection appeared in print elsewhere.  The father of a young man named Patrick Carr (...the same name of the son of Mrs. Marion Carr Knox, the person to whom Dan Rather and Mary Mapes turned with respect to the 2004 "Rathergate" memos which had been available to Mapes according to her book Truth and Duty in 1999.  In 2004 Knox's son came to her defense against the media onslaught led by former Reagan/Bush Attorney General Dick Thornburgh and former Associated Press head, Louis Boccardi), was investigating his son's death in Texas.  Pat Carr died on December 10, 2000, the same date as Gary Webb's resignation from the San Jose Mercury News in 1997 and Webb's death on December 10, 2004 in California, with both deaths being ruled suicides, but with significant anomalies in the medical examiners' reports.
The father wrote:  The research led me directly to the discovery that Kent State students were much closer to the U.S. power establishment in 1972 than they could have imagined.  My research led me to a Union General who had migrated to the Cuero and Goliad, Texas area after the Civil War to become a tax collector for the U.S. government and given that his name was and my writings were directly responsible for the Spring Grove Cemetery finally publishing an exhaustive list of the mass of Union Generals buried near Skull & Bones founder, Alphonso Taft.  (Sulfur, Lead and Poppies, 2015, pp. 55-56).
The Union General whose life in Texas provided the link to Spring Grove was General Lewis Gove Brown.  Brown's work was in the region of the Nassau-Waldec Plantation which was overseen by Union Generals Morgan Lewis Smith and his brother Giles Alexander Smith from the Trueheart-Adriance Building in Galveston, Texas.  Giles Alexander Smith's name appears on the amnesty agreement for Capt. Richard King, founder of the King Ranch upon whose Texas ranch Patrick Carr hunted with Corey Survant.  Patrick Carr had grown up in a First Presbyterian Church only a few flocks from the Trueheart-Adriance building in Galveston (Sulfur, Lead and Poppies, p. 64).  "I had found the connection while digging the records after discovering what looked to be Patrick Carr's, our family's ancestor, Julius Adcock, in the Thomaston Cemetery in Thomaston, Texas near Cuero buried directly next to Wiley Pridgeon, the attorney for Creed Taylor, a Southerner for whom was named the 'Sutton-Taylor Feud'.    General Lewis Gove Brown would have been an ally with the Suttons." said Patrick Carr's father who noted that the Texas gunman, John Wesley Hardin, was the "enforcer" for the Taylor gang and hid out in Atlanta, Georgia about 50 miles from Adcock family farm in Walton County when fleeing authorities in Texas.
That published list of Spring Groves' Union Generals is not, however, always fully listed.  For example, the undependable, but widely read Wikipedia entry for Spring Grove omits Lewis Gove Brown mentioned above who was institutionalized for what was surely PTSD and reportedly committed suicide in Ohio.  Patrick Carr, the 23-year-old who died on December 10, 2000 near Ellington Field on the eve of the 2000 Presidential Election's resolution by the U.S. Supreme Court, Ellington being the site of the "Rathergate" story, had worked in Austin, Texas at the business of Dan Rather's niece, Rebecca Rather, who owns mineral rights on the historic Nassau-Waldec Plantation in Texas. It was in 2000 that former Texas Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes, was giving a deposition about his part in the GWB appointment into the Texas Air National Guard that would become the subject of "Rathergate" in 2004, five years after Mary Mapes indicates in Truth and Duty that she first learned of GWB's memo issues.
The Nassau-Waldec Plantation was where the Buffalo Soldiers, the black soldiers who enforced Reconstruction in Texas were domiciled after the bloody Civil War.   Dan Rather had other connections to ranchland.  He owned with Former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, the Tecolote or "Owl" Ranch in Las Vegas, New Mexico while Rumsfeld was widely reported to own the historic "Misery Plantation" where abolitionist Frederick Douglass (Fred Bailey) had been "renditioned" before being returned to slavery in the South.  The Buffalo Soldiers were in charge of the camels which Jefferson Davis (judging from his letter to Franklin Pierce referring to New England China trader and opium merchant, Caleb Cushing, domiciled at the Jefferson Davis Project at Houston's Rice University, may have envisioned the same ambitions along the trade route from Texas to California) had purchased in Smyrna, home of David Sassoon's Middle East opium distribution headquarters.
The 1999 book by Thomas Layton (Voyage of the Frolic:  New England Merchants and the Opium Trade, Stanford University Press) revealed that the abolitionist orator, Frederick Douglass, also known as Fred Bailey, had laid the hulls of Baltimore opium clippers in the Gardiner Shipyard, Baltimore, Maryland.  This is also explored in Sulfur, Lead and Poppies (p. 27) .  These discoveries both complicate and simplify the investigative work of Gary Webb in California as he traced the connections of the CIA's and by proximity, the U.S. ruling class', evolution within the drug trade, drug policy and the unending war on drugs that accompanies the continuing wars in the Middle East and the unending war on terrorism.  Webb's relationship to Peter Brewton whose 1992 book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, had already connected the Iran-Contra network to the 1980's S&L crisis, found both of their investigative work supported by a  U.S. Senate Committee, headed by Senator John Kerry, which attested to the guilt of the Iran-Contra's leadership in complicity in the drug trade that parallels in cocaine taffic what was a longstanding and well-documented tradition in opium dealing that funded in large measure the American ruling class.

UPDATE:  4/10/2016.   It is now apparent that Professor Melissa Click was acting within what she viewed was the expressed policy and/or unexpressed ethos of the University of Missouri's academic environment.  Her written appeal clearly articulates her belief that she was acting within the precepts of her contract with the University of Missouri.  Unless or until she is willing to lay open the system's values, with a comprehensive analysis of the patterns and relationship that led to her actions, she is not likely to win in a civil law suit.   "That lawsuit would in all likelihood be settled out of court with no admission of guilt or innocence on the part of either party," said attorney Melvin "Racehorse" Bell Aye . -USP

JUDGE JULIE HARRIS KOCUREK SHOT

Texas Judges In Crosshairs
by G. Flavius Margaritos, CPW New Service

It was in Texas that Judge John Howland Wood was gunned down in his driveway in San Antonio like the recent attack on Judge Julie Harris Kocurek in Austin.  Wood's killer was Charles Harrelson, father of actor Woody Harrelson who in the film based on Cormac McCarthy's No Country For Old Men plays the American trying to track down Anton Chigurh, a name that sounds suspiciously like Lee and Jimmy Chagra who had hired Charles Harrelson, the heads of a Lebanese family living in Juarez, Mexico and importing along the porous Mexican/American border both drugs and weapons.  The death of the Judge Wood cleared the way for the ascent of Judge William Sessions not only to Wood's bench in San Antonio, but to the Director of the FBI under Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. The Travis County District Judge, Julie Harris Kocurek, had overseen cases that involved Governor Rick Perry and even embattled U.S. Congressman Tom DeLay a powerful leader in the Bush Administration's assault on fair representation.

“I would want to do a thorough background check on Mrs. Kocurek’s family history in Houston, not only of the cases she was handling in Travis County.   Perhaps there is some history there that can shed light on this vicious attack.  I was reading her mother’s obituary in the Houston Chronicle and noticed that the Judge has in the family the name Sacco and Listi.  Being Italian myself, there is nothing inherently unsafe  or evil about a family name….well, Hitler might be an exception and Mussolini has had problems,  but Hitler was German and you have to remember that Johnny Roselli who had a big part in the Mafia’s associations with the CIA to kill the freedom fighter turned despot, Fiedel Castro, changed his name from Sacco to Roselli (born Flippo Sacco in 1905), presumably after the Italian name Sacco included the terrorist bombers Sacco and Vanzetti.

Even since Peter Brewton of the Houston Post wrote the book The Mafia, CIA and George Bush in 1992, which linked the Iran-Contra network to the 1980’s S&L crisis with many of the Iran-Contra operators cutting their teeth on Operation Zapata, the CIA backed Bay of Pigs invasion, Houston has been ground zero for all manner of societal misfits.  They can hide within the sludge pockets of the oil refineries and back water bayous kind of like New Orleans for Carlos Marcello’s guys,” said Rocco Vanzetti Sacco from his porch in Kemah, Texas near the Houston Ship Channel.  Some of them live quite openly amid Houston's freewheeling society based on fossil fuels and carbon chugging earth-killing pollutants," said Rocco Vanzetti Sacco.

DAN RATHER'S CLOCKWORK ORANGE

WHAT IS THE FREQUENCY, KENNETH?  AND CAN YOU HELP SOLVE THE BARTHELME/RATHER RIDDLE?

Alexander DeLarge
By Alexander DeLarge, CPW News Service

Eric Mink of the Huff Post (11/5/15) gives us the reason why whoever was handling Dan Rather's law suit against CBS for not backing up the Rather and Mapes' Ellington Field story should also have been sued for mismanagement of Rather's legal case. CBS's "investigation" into the Ellington Field memos of GWB was prejudicial from the start and CBS was a party to another Bush bamboozle. Here is what Mink says: CBS' corporate chiefs then hired a two-person panel to investigate how their own news division produced the report. One of the two people was Dick Thornburgh, a former U.S. Attorney General appointed by President Ronald Reagan and reappointed by President George H.W. Bush, George W.'s dad. Thornburgh's law firm staff handled the leg work and prepared questioning sessions that, oddly, were not transcribed.
"This was a 'slam dunk' for a Rather victory in the courtroom....any normal courtroom! The only...only conclusion... that can be reached is that Rather's attorney, and Rather by association, are either idiots, another example of simple pedestrian morons, or were part of the Bush bamboozle.  He's no moron.   Mary Mapes....if she was not part of the bamboozle should have been asking....'What is the frequency, Kenneth?'" said Melvin “Racehorse” Bell Ayes of San Francisco, California.
In February 2011, Paul Limbert Allman wrote “The Frequency: Solving the Riddle of the Dan Rather Beating” for Harper’s Magazine.  In 1986 Dan Rather was viciously beaten on Park Avenue, New York City by an assailant who asked him “What is the frequency, Kenneth?”     The incident brought the charge from some quarters that Donald Barthelme, an award winning Houston, Texas post-modern writer and Director of the Dominique De Menil funded Houston Contemporary Museum of Art, had arranged for the beating.  Some claimed this an illogical assertion. It was never proven. Why would Barthelme have arranged it?  A PR ploy for his book that mentions "what is the frequency?"  A warning to Dan Rather from their old stomping ground where Barthelme was reporter for the Houston Post amid the petro-chem refineries of Houston and Ellington Field where the original Bush "memos" originated according to Texas Air National Guard secretary Marian Carr Knox? In 1986 the interest in the Ellington Field Bush memos had not yet surfaced.  Or had it?  The original memos were written in 1972, but Mary Mapes' claimed that she did not know about them until 1999 while former Texas Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes, claims he wrote letters that initially secured the GWB appoints in 1968.
Both Barthelme and Rather had been reporters in Houston and Barthelme’s writings had contained the phrase “What is the frequency?” along with a character named “Lather”.   The Dan Rather assailant, William Tager, would later be convicted of murdering an NBC technician, but some witnesses claimed he called Rather "Kenneth Burrows" or "Burroughs"....leading one to wonder why Tager didn't say "What's the frequency, William?"....as in  the adopted fellow southern and post-modern writer (if you consider the "Beat" writers post-modern), William S. Burroughs, grandson of William Seward Burroughs, founder of the Burroughs Co. that became Sperry and Univac and friend of many considered to be one of the American "business plotters" of the 1930's....Burroughs, Harvey Firestone, Henry Ford, John Rockefeller, Charles Lindberg. Some say Prescott Bush, GHWB's father, as evidenced by his Fritz Thyssen and Nazi-connected Union Bank affiliations at the time.

William Burroughs, not unlike Tager, had an affinity for guns and shot and killed his wife while playing a game of William Tell's "knock an apple from your head" in Mexico.   The "frequency"?   That is anyone’s guess.
Barthelme, Burroughs, Heller,
Vonnegut and Thompson's post-modernism
meets Beats and Gonzos in a whirling mix of
guns, mind benders and the madness of
endless warfare.  Did this lead to
Thompson's epiphany in
Kingdom of Fear?

All of it is really, but the "business plotters" have received significant post World War II attention from many quarters in as much as their actions are related to the testimony of two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner, Marine General Smedley Darlington Butler, who complained of a proposed Fascist coup that would have led a half-million-soldier army of U.S. veterans to unseat Franklin Delano Roosevelt had their ambitions been realized.  It was this plan from which a thread runs to Donald Trump's recent tweet of photos of the Bush clan and a Nazi swastika.  General Smedley Butler, no stranger to literature, wrote as a result of the experience a book, War Is A Racket, in 1935
The first Pulitzer Prize winning Latin American, son of Cuban immigrants, Oscar Hijuelos, was a graduate of City College of New York which bestowed on Wall Street financier and backer of the revolutionary Frasch Process for sulfur and gunpowder making, Bernard Baruch, an honorary doctorate. Hijuelos visited with Donald Bartheleme, William S. Burroughs and Joseph Heller along the same office hallway at City College of New York, his alma mater.   The three writers were, according to Hijuelos, there at City College at the same time.  He confirms this in his 2011 book, Thoughts Without Cigarettes: A Memoir.
These three literary standouts were together at the same time giving them a ring-side seat on what Joseph Heller would describe as the Catch-22 of the racket of warfare, much of which was fueled by the petrochemical industry in Houston, Texas and the nearby Freeport-McMoran Company that depended on the Frasch process to fuel the U.S. arsenal and on whose board was Henry Kissinger whose close associate at Kissinger & Associates was L. Paul Bremer the first head of the Iraqi Provisional Government.  These facts come to the aide of our understanding the exportation of wars to the Middle East about which General Wesley Clark has said there was a clear Neo-Con agenda after the 2000 election, but it also informs our understanding of the Rather/Barthelme/Lombardi place in the Houston political constellation, the arrival of Iran-Contra fire-waller who investigated the Harris County Medical Examiner's office for corruption, Michael Bromwich, and the arrival of the war salesman who fashioned the Tillman and Lynch stories for the Washington Post as well as co-author with Paula Broadwell of All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, Vernon Loeb.  Loeb became editor of the Houston Chronicle while his boss at the WP, Steve Coll, became the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism and Chair of the Columbia University School of Journalism in New York City.
"Add to this amazing trio of writers, Barthelme, Burroughs and Keller, the certainty that author Kurt Vonnegut was not far away as evidenced by his appearance in Lapham's The American Ruling Class and  Vonnegut's book, Slaughterhouse Five, a novel like Catch-22 that normalizes the inevitability of endless warfare....leading to the canonization of Cormac McCarthy's book, Blood Meridian, by Yale's gatekeeper on the U.S. literary canon, Harold Bloom,  and we see a shift from the prophetic critiques of society in the writings of Sinclair Lewis or Vance Packard, or a century earlier writer....Herman Melville.... whose works like Moby Dick or Billy Budd warned against fanatic pursuit of warfare's injustice that would pull down the guilty and innocent alike.   McCarthy would pull off the mask and thin veneer of civilization by declaring in Blood Meridian "War is God".....music to the ears of the war profiteers!
"If you have not seen Kurt Vonnegut together with CBS's longtime news anchor and mentor and predecessor of Dan Rather, Walter Cronkite, in the documentary by Louis Lapham, The American Ruling Class (7:15 following)  you have missed a good part of the cultural milieu within which Barthelme, Burroughs, Heller and Vonnegut wrote.   In a similar documentary, Born Rich,  is the heir of the Eli Whitney fortune whose family not only owns New York's Grand Central Station, but the Whitney Museum where Mark Lombardi's work on Iran-Contra was ceremoniously hung in a display of politically charged commentarial artwork.  It was a strange choice for the Whitney.  John Hay 'Jock' Whitney, a member of the same family, had also taken an interest in filmmaking by backing the Hollywood blockbuster, Gone With the Wind.  That film mythologized the U.S. Civil War in a way that took our eyes off of the real motive for that war....the rush by the railroads to the Pacific and the China Trade based on silk and opium," said Shirley Locke Holmes who noted that 'Jock' Whitney was married to Barbara Cushing a daughter of the powerful Boston China Trade merchants and opium importers, the John Perkins Cushing and Caleb Cushing families.
After World War II Bernard Baruch whose father, Simon, was a surgeon for Confederate General Robert E. Lee,  was visited by both Winston Churchill and Dwight D. Eisenhower at Baruch's Park Avenue apartment near the site of Rather's beating by Tager.   Simon Baruch's influence in New York can be seen in his support of public bathhouses and "Hydrotherapy" that was evolving, then fading, at the same time as opioids for surgery was championed by Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. who coined the word "anesthetic" and whose son was the leading legal mind on the U.S. Supreme Court just as the nation's drug and patent medicine laws were being forged in the U.S. courts with supplies being managed in the Middle East's Golden Crescent....Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Turkey.... but for which a competitor had evolved....the Orient's Golden Triangle.  With poppies growing ubiquitously around the world it was a clear strategy at controlling the supply and price of opioids by a Plutocracy.
William Tager who would shoot and kill NBC media technician, Campbell Theron Montgomery in 1991,  was widely believed to have been the instigator of the Rather attack on Park Avenue in 1986.  Rather identified Tager from a mug shot photo following his arrest for the Montgomery murder.
Paul Allman’s characterization of the Rather incident as a “riddle” is not the only one surrounding Dan Rather.  There is with the Ellington Field memo story, the claims that the 2004 Peabody Award for Dan Rather and Mary Mapes’ “breaking the Abu Ghraib story,” when Amnesty International reported the problems there in 2003 (a claim that was later clarified by adding "on television") and there was Dan’s co-ownership of the Tecolote Ranch, Spanish for “Owl”, in Las Vegas, New Mexico with Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld.   In November 2015 the Jon Meachum book, Destiny and Power in which GWB's father, GHWB, essentially ran over and flattened the Rumsfeld and Cheney contributions to the GWB legacy in less than a month after the James Vanderbilt film, Truth, was released on October 16.   That movie release did not include Texas theaters until just before the release of Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush.   Truth  is the film about the GWB Air National Guard AWOL and memos that became known as "Rathergate"....the  story based on Mapes' book Truth and Duty: The Press, The President and the Privilege of Power.
There is more.   There are other riddles spinning around Dan Rather.... riddles surrounding the life Donald Barthelme and their other Houston connections.

SUPER-SLEUTHS WANTED

We are asking for your help in solving the Rather/Barthelme riddle, but new information has been provided by investigative journalist and occasional contributor, Shirley Locke Holmes, who has noted the following:
  • Barthleme worked at the De Menil backed Houston Museum of Contemporary Art. The De Menil fortune came from oil exploration and the first charting machine that made oil exploration efficient for Schlumberger Oil, the De Menil company.  Houston, Texas is the heart of the world’s fossil fuel empire pumping the technology for fossil fuel extraction worldwide.  It is the epicenter of petrochemical engineering and its accompanying money flow like the Texas Medical Center is the heart of the world’s heart research.
  • When Gordon Gray, father of Bush family attorney, C. Boyden Gray, headed the Congressional committee that stripped Robert Oppenheimer of his national security clearance after heading up the Manhattan Project, Houston became ground zero for the attack on the high profile atomic scientist who desired not to build the more powerful hydrogen bomb, but to use nuclear energy for high efficiency electric power generation like that which Houston-based Enron manipulated with the pricing of gas reserves in California.  With deregulation arriving as a Clinton gift in 1999 to the Bush administration, California under Governor Gray Davis of the family of William Rhodes Davis, the focus of Dale Harrington’s book, William Rhodes Davis: Nazi Agent of Influence, California became Enron's piggy bank with Kenneth Lay seriouiosly considered as the leading candidate as GWB's energy czar.
  • The chief witnesses against J. Robert Oppenheimer were Rice University’s Dr. Kenneth Pitzer and William Liscum Borden.  Often argued that nuclear energy is too dangerous for domestic energy production it has been used for decades to fuel the U.S. Navy’s largest carriers and their powerful nuclear arsenals at sea.  Engineer, Kenneth Pitzer, was working on high octane jet fossil fuels for the aviation industry at the time that he witnessed against Oppenheimer, a conflict of interest as inherent as CBS's decision to have Dick Thornburgh investigate the Rather and Mapes' Ellington Field story.
  • Dominique De Menil and her husband,  John,  befriended the owner of Houston’s Brazos Book Store, Karl Kilian.   Karl L. Kilian was married to Kathleen Campbell Kilian who co-owned property in Houston with Marion Knox Barthelme, the wife of Donald Barthelme as evidenced in the Harris County records (T036313, 5/22/98) as both Marion Knox Bartheleme and Julie K D Kilian (perhaps Julie Kathleen Davidson Kilian?) both appear as "grantees" on a Cresmere Place property.
  • Marian Carr Knox was the secretary of Colonel Jerry Bryan Killian (spelled like Karl Kilian, but with two “ll”’s) who came to the defense of the contents of the Dan Rather memos in 2004, but asserting that the memos were not the originals and used language not common to the Texas National Guard.
  • With Ellington Field, Houston being known for its connections to the CIA as well as to General Claire Chennault whose Flying Tiger’s served the American Volunteer Group or AVG in China, and continuing the name as a privatized  airline for shuttling  CIA supplies under the name Flying Tiger Airline and with Col. Jerry Killian being GWB’s direct supervisor.  Julie Kathleen Kilian and Harry and Kathleen Carr Kilian used the same probate attorney in Houston, Philip Donisi (case 256906 and 323686, respectively in the Harris County Probate records), but the 70ish Kathleen Davidson Carr Killian appears to have significant ties to Karl Laurence Kilian and to Julie Kilian.
  •  Employed at the Houston Contemporary Art Museum where Donald Barthelme was the Director was the graphic artist, Mark Lombardi, who in 2000 had published an artistic flow chart of the Iran-Contra network in Houston, a subject upon which the Houston Post reporter, Peter Brewton had been working in 1992 when his book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, having been previously contracted with Simon & Schuster publisher of Woodward and Bernstein’s All the President’s Men.    Alice Mayhew, their editor at Simon & Schuster, was assigned the editing task on the Brewton book when it was suddenly derailed, leaving Brewton’s impeccable research without a publisher before the 1992 election….the same year that the FinCEN investigation that was set up to probe Saudi influence peddling in the U.S. and with GWB’s Air National Guard roommate, James Reynolds Bath, in its crosshairs.  Bath was the President of Houston’s Ellington Field’s airplane fuel concession whose partner was Bracewelll & Giuliani attorney, William E. King, and Bath had helped the Saudi royal banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz, to purchase the nearby Houston Gulf Manor Airport for Salem Bin Laden, the older brother and first-born heir of the Bin Laden family fortune.
  • Salem Bin Laden died in 1988 in Cibolo, Texas in an ultra-light plane crash that was reported by CBS's celebrated investigative reporter, Lowell Bergman, the hero of the film, The Insider, which led to the dismantling of big tobacco's bamboozle of the American medical and health system.  Big tobacco's industry leaders were along with Brown & Williamson, RJ Reynold's whose chief heirs were Gordon Gray and son, C. Boyden Gray.  Lowell Bergman reported that Salem Bin Laden had died piloting his BAC-111 when he died in an ultra-light, a blatant misreporting by CBS's leading journalist.  After 911 the Bin Laden's Houston Gulf Manor Airport, the favorite airport of NASA's astronauts and their private planes, was sold and razed.
  • Following Mark Lombardi's death in 2000, reportedly a hanging suicide in New York City, Mark Lombardi’s one color pin and ink drawings of the Iran-Contra, BCCI and dark alliances and money laundering network went on exhibit at New York’s Whitney Museum with several FBI agents visiting the display.   The FBI's interest in the show added to the increased notoriety to both the exhibit and the death of Barthelme’s former assistant at the De Menil art museum in Houston, Mark Lombardi.  “It was like there was a literary, artistic and journalistic pipeline from Park Avenue, Madison Avenue and Broadway to Houston, Texas, but why?" asked Shirley Locke Holmes who thought that it may have been to send a signal to anyone else seeking to hang a sign on the Iran-Contra debacle like Gary Webb had done with his work at the San Jose Mercury News and his book handled by NY agency, Lord Literistic,  through his agent Philipa Brophy.
  • After Don Barthelme’s death, Marion Knox Barthelme married John Franklin Fort, III a major U.S. industry mogul.  He preceded Dennis Kozlowski at Tyco, the multi-national U.S. company that in 2000 had purchased Malinkrodt Inc., the centrally located, St. Louis, Missouri company that had been one of the major purifiers of high grade uranium for the Manhattan Project whose leader, J. Robert Oppenheimer, would be sidelined by the testimony of Rice University’s President Kenneth Pitzer as previously mentioned.  Malinkrodt was also one of a handful of U.S. companies with a license to legally import opium for legitimate medicinals.  When Tyco’s Koslowski came under fire for mismanagement, John F. Fort, a Tyco Director, whom many said would have known the level and extent of Koslowski’s misdeeds, was brought back to manage the troubled company.
  • John Franklin Fort, III was the grandson of the Governor of New Jersey who in the first quarter of the 20th Century had a stellar reputation for honesty and integrity, but lamented that the corruption that defined New Jersey’s Boardwalk Empire era expanded during his tenure.
Is it purely coincidental that  Marian Carr Knox, the Ellington Field secretary of Col. Jerry Killian have very similar names to  Marion Knox Barthelme Fort and that  Col. Jerry Killian and the De Menil protégé’ Karl L. Kilian of the favorite jaunt of Don Barthelme in Houston, the Brazos Bookstore, spelling their names so similarly and why should Americans care?

Perhaps you are an expert in actuarial sciences or statistics or gaming theory and can tell us the likelihood that there would be in the same city of Houston, Texas  two women with the first name of “Marion” with an “a” and an "o" with such close associations with someone named “Killian” or “Kilian” with one or two “L’s”.   As Shirley Locke Holmes has said “Perhaps your name is Kenneth and you know what the frequency is.”

Help Shirley Locke Holmes and this author, Alexander DeLarge, solve the Rather/Mapes and Marian Carr Knox/Marion Knox Barthelme Fort and the  Kilian/Killian riddle.

ADDEMDUM:  We received the following letters from the author of The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, Peter Brewton, attorney and journalism professor at Texas Tech University on February 9th, 2016.  He had written the father of Patrick Carr, a 23 year old young man who had worked in Austin, Texas for the owners of Ranch 616, Ellas' and Rather Sweet, co-owned with Dan Rather's cousin, Rebecca Rather. Patrick Carr was killed in Houston near Ellington Field on the night of December 10, 2000 the anniversary of the resignation of Gary Webb from the San Jose Mercury News and the later anniversary of Webb's supposed suicide in California on December 10, 2004 in a senario that was as illogical and unbelievable as that of Patrick Carr in Houston.   Patrick Carr shared the same name as the son of Mrs. Marion Carr Knox, the secretary of Col. Jerry Killian who typed the original memos upon which the Mapes/Rather memos were based.  Marion's son had defended her against the threatening visit of Dick Thornburgh and a media whitewashing in 2004 after the 60 Minutes story and her interview aired.  Brewton's 1992 book had joined though impeccable investigative journalism the connections between GHWB, the S&L scandal and the Iran-Contra network in Houston.  Brewton was initially signed with Simon & Schuster and promised Alice Mayhew as his editor, the editor of the Washington Post reporters Woodward & Bernstein's editor on All the President's Men.  Brewton has maintained that it was ploy to keep his book out of print until after the 1992 election.

The letter noted the role that Stacey Keach's character, Col. Bill Burkett, who provided the false memos upon which Marion Carr Knox commented and was interviewed by Rather and aired by 60 Minutes on September 15, 2004, but whose story was omitted from the film, played in the reality of the 2000 election year.  Col. and Mrs. Burkett told Mapes that the reason they had not come forward with the memos in 2000 was because they feared for their lives.  "This established the base-line for anyone who is near a U.S. Presidential election in these times and the essential truth of life in America, today," said the letter.

Later the same day we received a letter responding to the 11:04 a.m. email indicating an intentional botch job on both the memo and the Vanderbilt film.   Brewton agreed CBS owed professional journalism a good deal more than the Thornburgh committee.  It owed the truth.  Brewton did not believe, however, that Rather or Mapes were anything other than "outsmarted".   WHC took issue based on Mapes' and Rathers' embrace of the Vanderbilt story line.  Nixon was impeached on the word of "Deep Throat" and no memos at all!
