CELEBRATING FLAGS OF FAILED STATES

IF AMERICANS KNEW THEIR HISTORY
by Wilbur Underyerskun  for CPW News Service

COMMENTARY

Faded memories die hard.  Failed faded memories die harder.  It's as rooted in our sense of fair play as rooting for the Chicago Cubs when they continually failed to win.

We might ask how a symbol of defeat becomes so much a part of a particular mindset when there are values that are intrinsically opposed to that symbol.  Moses in the Old Testament thought that slavery was a bad idea.  George Washington did not want to be a slave to King George and seeing the hypocrisy moved to free his slaves in 1799.

At the height of the Civil War, James Power the sculptor, unveiled his famous Greek Slave.  Ivory white, the Greek slave was a white woman chained to a tree stump.  It can happen to anyone.

The fact is that Americans do not know their own history.  Period.   If they did they would know that behind the Civil War was the push to the Pacific and the Middle East's opium crops for which American boys and girls are still fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan in the heart of the Golden Crescent which produces about ninety percent of the world's heroin, the legitimate and illegitimate opioids.

They would know that William Tecumseh Sherman was not just destroying the Atlanta to Savannah railroad in November and December, 1865, but the Eastern terminus of the Savannah to San Diego railroad that would beat the North's rail ambitions because of the relatively flat Great Southwest route that had been surveyed by Jefferson Davis in the 1850's. They would know that  Confederate General Braxton Bragg and General William Tecumseh Sherman were business partners before the Civil War with Sherman working in San Francisco and Sacramento area with George Bragg to consolidate the Northern rail barons' preferred route toward opium smuggler, Caleb Cushing's, New England states and thus wrestle from the South the advantage.   What better way to do that than to put pitchforks in the hands of the one essential pre-John Deere, Caterpillar and Ford tractor and cotton combine processors:  Slaves.  Slaves weren't needed to build the railroad, the North had Chinese and Irish to do that if they could only keep the South preoccupied, but the fight over slavery also fueled the sale of sulfur, lead and ultimately, poppies that also served not only the battlefield surgical tent, but the local civilian hospital and apothecary.  Boom:  the birth of the American Military Industrialist Complex!
With the 1867 invention of Alfred Nobel's dynamite the final punch through the Rockies was guaranteed and the pesky, troublesome, cantankerous Southerners were bypassed with a Union fortress dropped on top of their envisioned Pacific terminus at San Diego.   Today the headquarters of the Navy SEALs of which William B. Cushing is patron saint and JSOC's Admiral William McRaven a notable alum, the subject of Jeremy Scahill's Dirty Wars and the U.S. Marines' headquarters, of which General Smedley Darlington Butler is a celebrated, but fallen saint, are part of this partly real, all-mythic, but well-bamboozled legacy.
No, the folks in South Carolina, Mississippi, most of the South including Texas that harbors the Bonnie Blue battle flag of the Confederacy in its state flag's left panel, are largely ignorant of the place that drugs had in their national heritage, but so are the bamboozled Yankees, most of whom are happy that Southern historians are retelling their lies.  With historians like Shelby Foote proclaiming boldly that he consulted no original manuscripts in this retelling of the Civil War and with Texas' Frank Vandiver making so little of the letter at Rice University from Jefferson Davis to Franklin Pierce celebrating their mutual friendship with General Caleb Cushing and declaring that Lincoln was a pawn in the forgone conclusion of war, "Heritage, not hate" is disingenuous.  Which ever side claims the moral high ground as Denzel Washington's character in Glory so rightly put it...."ain't none of us clean in this thing." When you consider that the ex-slaves would be to the U.S. power elites what the Chinese poor were for the British opium dealers who had taught Caleb Cushing and his buddies the ins and outs of selling chemical chains Caleb and Fred Bailey, also known as Frederick Douglass were as guilty as the South.  The buyers?  Mostly the poor in foreign and domestic ghettos as the rich New Englanders and their newest colleagues were like David Sassoon sitting in an Ottoman bazaar and packing his caravan for the trip to Basra.  While the boys in gray were buried on Robert E. Lee's confiscated estate, Arlington National Cemetery, so the greatest contingent of Union Generals took their place in the burial ground of their order's chief clipper sheet-puller and Pacific track layer, along with the Huntingtons, Russells, Cushings and Lowes, the patriot of the Taft family and founder with William Huntington Russell of Skull & Bones,  Alphonso Taft in Cincinatti's Spring Grove Cemetery.
Heritage not hate?  Right. Both flags have plenty of each, but in the final analysis one flag excels over the other by its mere design and single-sided construct.  It MUST be truer than the other, there is only one way to look at it.  The father of "applied sociology" at Columbia University, also the father of the creator of Black Scholes, the Nobel Prize winning economist from Harvard whose Frankenstein-ish eco-metrics tanked the U.S. economy in 2008 could not, in consultation with the wizards of Madison Avenue and Sigmund Freud's best mind science architects, have come up with a more powerful image of a nation's....A nation's......A NATION'S complex character.  A bold and mind-focusing symbol that begs like a Rubics Cube to be shuffled into its proper, singular, well-coordinated viewing.  Oh, but the truth is covered, as Winston Churchhill said poignantly, "by a swarm of lies."  The Union flag has, however, what the Confederate flag does not. As in the film In The Valley Of Ellah, it can be horizontally flipped as a universal sign of extreme distress where the Confederate flag cannot.  I say we jettison the Confederate AND upright Union flags for the flipped Union flag! Today, following a war in Iraq which Zbigniew Brzezinski has said was based on a bamboozle with absolutely false evidence and running into the trillions of dollars above the promised $60 billion and in response to the 19 September 11th hijackers of which none were Iraqi and 15 were Saudi Arabian, Americans can truly identify with our new flipped flag.  Unless, that is, you need the cover of the upright to hide the bamboozle as Pat Tillman, Jessica Lynch and Theodore "Ted" Westhusing so discovered and now depend on us to join them as an overwhelming majority of flag flippers.  This is not a sign of capitulation, but a strong affirmation that the values upon which America was built....freedom, liberty and justice for all....the democratic values that kings and despots deplore.....is always a generation or less of losing it core principles.  It is a battle cry for compatriots and like-minded freedom fighters who want the values upon which they were established perfected.
In the 1940's in Nazi occupied France the Vichy French puppets of the Reich minted on the French Vichy coins the words "Travaile-Famille-Patrie"...."Work-Family-Fatherland".  The tyrannical Nazis liked that better.   After their liberation by freedom loving American, Canadian and British troops the French restored their coin to its original message "Liberte-Equalite-Fraternite".    Was this not the message of Washington, Franklin, Jefferson and the rest?  Liberty, equality, fraternity?  Ah, but when the very symbol of our liberty, equality and fraternity is in trouble?  You flip the flag!

This need for a flag flipping was a long time coming. I sugguest that people read Thomas Layton's 1999 book Voyage of the Frolic: New England Merchants and the Opium Trade with its discovery that Fred Bailey, also known as abolitionist Frederick Douglass, was laying the hulls of opium clippers in Baltimore before the Civil War.  He could have been like Don Aranow in Miami in the 1980's, but working for powerful silent partners in Baltimore or Boston where Caleb Cushing, George Luther Stearns and even Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. all came together, the later coining the word "anesthetics" and whose son would have a tight reign on the Supreme Court just as the nation constructed its legal policies that allowed the leading importers the power to prohibit.  This will put recent events in Baltimore, Maryland and Ferguson, Missouri and even Charleston, South Carolina, not to mention the appearance of CIA Director, John Deutsch, in South Central Los Angeles after the Rodney King riots when Gary Webb was publishing the meticulously researched lightening rod for big government and the newspaper puppets, Dark Alliance, into sharp focus. Look, too, at the 2014 book, Sulphur, Lead and Poppies that pulls back the curtain on America's biggest bamboozle that cost 600,000 Americans mothers their sons and shows just how Shelby Foote, Frank Vandiver and a host of others missed telling us about the fast boat to China....or simply Shanghaied it!
When following Gary Webb's release of Dark Alliance the Washington Post's Jeff Leen not only belittled Webb even as Webb referred to the 1992 book,  meticulously researched by the Houston Post's  Peter Brewton, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush and Webb's conversation with Brewton, who would become the Texas Tech University journalism professor;  When the Washington Post made it clear that there was, unlike President Nixon's little Watergate break-in that paled in comparison to the Regan-Bush Iran-Contra weapons-for drugs-for hostages fiasco, "nothing to see here";  When the Houston Post's other paper, the Houston Chronicle,  recruited as its managing editor, Vernon Loeb in 2013, the Washington Post's editor who worked with Jeff Leen and with Steve Coll who has moved on to head the Henry Luce Professorship at Columbia University as Dean of Columbia's journalism department with it longstanding connection to the leading American media marketers trained in the new science of "applied sociology" and "applied psychology", ABC, CBS, NBC....Loeb providing the WP's fraudulent cover stories of Pat Tillman's death, Jessica Lynch's rescue and co-wrote the book with Paula Broadwell All In:  The Education of General David Petraeus and the evolution of the management of the media from the fictional Liberty Valance....whose tyranny was like the Vichy French coin....a sign of freedom denied, liberty veiled.... to its current state that shows just why Valance and those of his persuasion feel they need to kill the messenger.

      Flip the flag.

Roman Catholic Bush Tells Pope To Butt Out Of Global Warming Debate

Pope Francis Warming To Climate Change, Pastoral Stewardship of Mother
Earth, But Is Sperm Spilling and Family Planning In The Church’s Plan?

An Interview with Father Peter A. Codlicker

By  Seymour Dimley for CPW News Service

On June 19th, 2015 Father Peter A. Codlicker of Priest's For Earth Stewardship and Spermatozoa Preservation or PESSP sat down with Seymour Dimley to discuss the Holy Sees' new position on global warming. -WC

SD:  Father Codlicker, the Pope has announced the reality of global warming and
the need to practice a whole new level of stewardship of what he has termed “Mother Earth.”

PC:  “Mother Earth”….sounds like he’s getting ready to get Cat Stephens and Joni Mitchell to write a Gregorian chant of Where Will The Children Play and They’ve Paved Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot, doesn’t it?

SD:  So you are not impressed with the church’s new direction?

PC:  When Pope Francis gets JEB Bush to admit that his science is as swayed by his family’s oil interests in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the rest of the world and that fracking the holy mollie out of the earth’s substrate, I’ll rejoice and run my approval up the Swiss Guard’s flag poles.   But there is nothing earth shattering about the Pope’s position.

SD:   There isn’t?

PC:    It’s not especially Christian.  It goes back the first and second accounts of creation in Genesis.  You know, chapters one and two.  Then God said ‘Be fruitful and multiply….subdue the earth.”   Then there’s the second account of creation and the admonition to ‘till the garden and maintain it.’    One is about exploitation and other about peaceful coexistence.    By in large celibates aren’t contributing to the earth’s rapidly expanding population and the fracking, oil sucking, gas blowing power pumpers whose money provides some very nice support for the churches….all churches….like it does JEB, his brothers, his daddy and mother.  They aren't excited about shifting the whole oil mess to solar, hydrogen, wind or nuclear.   In that respect they are not too different from the church of the past.  Is Pope Francis serious?

SD:  Are you asking me?

PC:  Yea, do you think he is serious about the global warming debate?

SD:  By what can I measure, but his words?

PC:  Words are cheap.  An earlier Pope may have told Copernicus and Galileo that their theories were correct, but they were put under house arrest because they told the church that the earth is not the center of the universe.  You don’t tell the organization that holds the “keys to the kingdom” that it’s not the center of the universe.  You don't tell Henry Ford or John D. Rockefeller that though they hold the keys to their kingdoms that they need to convert it all to clean hydrogen fuel cells or lithium-ion batteries and not expect a fight.  If we saw the Muslim clerics telling their people to forget the oil under the desert sands and instead make of the sand silica solar panels then we might believe that the Pope, this Pope, any Pope is sincere.  Gotta keep up with the Jones’ you know.   We’ll know more about the honesty of his position when he brings family planning into alignment with his professed new view on global warming.

SD:  In what way might he do that?

PC:  There is a canonical prohibition against Onanism.  Onan is an Old Testament personality who sinned by spilling his sperm on the ground and somehow lost in the translation was the possibility that being fruitful and multiplying shifted after Adam and Eve’s inbreeds rocketed into a pattern of exponential growth that made a termite colony jealous.   When Pope Francis argues for sperm freezing as a means of birth control we’ll know he’s serious.

 SD:  Sperm freezing?

PC:   Well, Onan sinned in killing his sperm and allowing it to die on the ground.  This was considered poor stewardship on the one hand or lack of incentive to be fruitful and multiply on the other.  But if the Vatican can sell holy sperm pockets, sperm coozies, kind of like it does candles and rosaries for the tabernacle of future Catholics.   Gotta think outside the box on this one toward a brilliant new approved canonical means of embracing the global warming concerns while bringing the church’s outdated prohibition against Onanism up to date.

SD:  Sperm pockets or coozies?  Tabernacle of future Catholics?

PC:  The holy pockets are NOT condoms.  Sure, they look exactly like them except they come in liturgical colors that correspond to the church calendar.  You know:  green, red, white, purple. Red will likely be the most popular color and red's short use in the holy calendar will keep it that way, kind of like forbidden fruit.  But they are a holy vessel emblazoned with the Vatican seal and the tabernacle of the future Catholics is the holy family sub-zero tabernacle centrally located in the kitchen or garage next to the new electric, lithium-ion powered family car.  No harm to the sperm, no foul.  Make the placement of the sperm a religious ritual like the Muslims praying five times a day.   The men would love that....for a while, anyway.  Make these deposits into the tabernacle a new sacrament and add it to the existing seven.  I mean, the Protestants may argue that you don't need that many sacraments....some are tossing out doing weddings since Jesus didn't ever conduct one and was arguably never married and many find this is a big relief given the pressure to do gay weddings but hey, if you're going to have sacraments this eighth sacrament should be established by canonical verbiage that avoids making it look like it's some neo-pagan fertility cult ritual.  It's about pastoral stewardship and deferred exploitation of the planet and a pro-life philosophy and theology.  It's what separates us from the birds and the bees, which if we don't put a lid on it aren't going to be sewing the earth's other seeds and pollens anymore.  We human species  got to this point without their help which the earth's plants need for sustainability.  Could you imagine the size of our problem if Onan had little helpers like birds and bees delivering his deposits.  That would have made a horrifying scene in an Alfred Hitchcock movie!

SD:  How many sacraments do Protestants have?

PC:  Two.   They maintain that scripture only authorizes two.  Jesus said "do this in remembrance of me" at his last supper and, of course, he was baptized in the River Jordan by John the Baptist whose name gives away his religious slant.  Hey, as any diabetic or ailing immune system can tell you, bathing is good!   However, there are some that say that since Jesus kind of just acquiesced and didn't implore his followers to do likewise, then it became a sacrament out of church tradition.  That opened the flood gate for the others.  Clearly, communion should be one and I think that baptism is pretty clearly one.  Besides, you get rid of that one and the church throws the baby out with the bath water.

SD:  You're not suggesting that.....

PC:  Oh, NO!  Heaven's no.  I'm a good Roman Catholic.

SD:  We were talking about freezing sperm and holding it in limbo in a sacramental tabernacle for future Roman Catholics when the pressures of the earth resources, maybe from a meteoric fireball or earthquake or Tsunami depopulates a few billion inhabitants.

PC:  Did we say all of that?

SD:  But what about the female’s unfertilized eggs that are discharged monthly?

PC:  What the hell, freeze them, too.

SD:  What about power outages and defrosting?  That would be a bad a moldy or stale host wouldn't it?

PC:  I am sure that there are some fine Chinese companies that would make the Holy Keeper of the Tabernacle of Future Roman Catholics.

SD:  Gasoline, diesel, propane or natural gas?

PC:  I'm sure that the church will need to look at the bottom line to determine that.

SD:  Solar?

PC:  That would be ideal, but it all depends on which is more important and time critical?  Planetary overcrowding or global warming.  In a messy world it's a real juggling act.

SD:  With fertile nuns discharging monthly don't they inadvertently practice a type of female Onanism from the time they start ovulating?

PC:  What are you saying?

SD:  That you will need to change the name of your group to include the nuns.

PC:  The priests won't like that.

Paula Kranz Broadwell, Vernon Loeb, David Petraeus and Theodore "Ted" Westhusing

Houston Chronicle Editor Gatekeeper on Nation's War Racketeering?

by J. "Rip" S. Norton,  CPW News Service

With Houston being home to National Lead Co., founder of Dutch Boy Lead Paint, the son of whose former production manager, Sewell Shuger, wrote IGNORAD, Sewell's son, Scott Shuger.  It's also home to nearby Freeport McMoran Sulfur Co. and their co-dependent legacy of military and industrialist larceny lodged in bullets and gunpowder, the Houston Chronicle finds that its new journalistic gatekeeper is Paula Kranz Broadwell's, official biographer of General David Petraeus, writing partner, Vernon F. Loeb.  At their 2012 Politics & Prose book showing Loeb's former colleague at the Washington Post noted that Mrs. Broadwell was given "unusual access" to Petraeus for All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.  Loeb arrived as the new managing editor of the Houston Chronicle on January 15, 2013.
"When I read the Petraeus biography, co-written by Loeb and Broadwell,  and saw who was plugging it.....David Gergen, Doris Kearns Goodwin and others, but that the book had not even mentioned the University of Texas Greek scholar and chief ethicist at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, Col. Theodore 'Ted' Westhusing, I was deeply, deeply saddened.  Westhusing, the subject of the entire first chapter of Christian T. Miller's book Blood Money,  had followed on the heels of Rudy Giuliani's New York Police Commissioner, Bernie Kerik, in Iraq and discovered there the depths of the corruption and war profiteering.  The stinch of this war or Westhusing's compelling story-line may have caused one of Westhusing's West Point classmates, D. Richard Tucker, to write the play Duty, Honor and Profit," said Maynard G. Gilligan of the anti-war group Soul-less Soldiers And The Racket of War, but the play could have just as easily have been titled Green Zone or No Country for Honest Men according to Gilligan
Giuliani is now with the Houston law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani, one of whose attorney's, William E. King, is James R. Bath's business partner in Ellington Field's Southwest Airport Services, the fuel provider for the CIA-linked airport where GWB did his time, well, some of his time, in the Texas Air National Guard.   That story was, of course, exposed in 2004 by Houstonian and CBS's star reporter, Dan Rather and his producer Mary Mapes when it was actually available through Texas' Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes, since the early 70's.    "Barnes admitted that he was sitting on the story in 2000 when he said 'Gore didn't need it,'" said Gilligan.  "Yea, with the Supreme Court making the call Gore didn't need it....unless he wanted to lead a new American revolution," said Gilligan.
"With Houston being the home of the infamous I-45 Corridor and with a leading Houston Chronicle journalist zeroing in on the billowing fires along this 'most dangerous road in America' that links Dealy Plaza to the flow of weapons from every major U.S. military incursion since William Walker's failed annexation of Honduras to the Bay of Pigs and Iran-Contra, there is good reason to want the city's leading journalistic gatekeeper to be so strategically located and so timely.  Loeb's arrival was as timely as the arrival of the chief Iran-Contra investigator, Michael Bromwich's arrival to 'investigate' the corruption at the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office before he moved on to the BP Deep Water Horizon case.  Bromwich was the Reagan/Bush firewaller on the Iran-Contra fiasco that found Casper Weinberger, Elliott Abrams, John Poindexter and Ollie North indicted, but pardoned by Houstonian, George H.W. Bush. It was here that the Houston Post writer whose 1992 book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, laid out the connections of the S&L scandal to Iran-Contra that informed the work of Gary Webb in Dark Alliance.  It was here that in 1992 the FINCEN investigation of Saudi influence peddling that would likely have netted the key 911 Saudi hijackers had this Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, been allowed to continue.  When New York's police officer, Frank Serpico, triggered the creation of the Knapp Commission and its probe into NY City's police corruption, the Knapp Commission found Brian Bruh its top FBI  liaison.  Bruh would move on to overseeing the FINCEN program in the sensitive 1992 Presidential election year," said Gilligan.
FINCEN received a stand down order in a Presidential campaign year of 1992 that had wildly embarrassing information relative to Ellington Field and the sale of the nearby Houston Gulf Manor Airport to Salem Bin Laden, brother of Osama who died in 1988 in Cibolo, Texas.  The Houston Bin Laden airport was purchased via the Saudi royal banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz and his close colleague, GWB's Air National Guard roommate, James R. Bath.   "Keeping the lid on the septic tank is what these slithering sidewinders do with the appearance of great respectability, even to the point that the White House's poor minority servant staff laments their leaving, but good god almighty, it's a scam of monumental proportions," said Gilligan who sometimes thinks the White House staff must be descendants of Fred Bailey, AKA Frederick Douglass, who according to Thomas Layton's 1999 book published a year before the 2000 Bush/Gore campaign, Voyage of the Frolic: The New England Merchants and the Opium Trade was building opium clippers in Baltimore before becoming the leading abolitionist spokesman in Boston.  Boston was also home to leading opium merchant Caleb Cushing and lead miner and "Secret Six" backer of abolitionist John Brown, George Luther Stearns, relative of California Alcade of San Diego, Bostonian Abel Stearns.
"Y2K was a sensitive year for these sidewinders," said Gilligan, "but so was 1992 when Presidential Independent candidate, H. Ross Perot, had sent a team to Missouri to question SR-71 pilot, Gunther Russbacher, who claimed knowledge of the 1980 'October Surprise' and Perot's team-up with Vietnam War hero, Bo Gritz, who had sensitive knowledge from Kung Sa, Indo China's leading opium dealer which Gritz had openly shared in 1988," said Gilligan pointing to Gritz' appearance on the Morton Downey Show.  "Of course Bill Clinton won in 1992, not Bush or Perot, but Clinton's cover as Arkansas Governor for Barry Seal's Mena, Arkansas CIA drug operation, an operation that cost Barry Seal his life before he could give testimony in a Louisiana Federal Court just as it would Robert Corson, the son-in-law of the key Iran-Contra player in Houston, Walter Mischer, as Corson made his way to the court of Judge David Hittner, the same judge who championed the case of Michael Lloyd Self who had been framed for the Texas killings which Edward Harold Bell would confess in 1998 to having committed.   Judge Hittner's help of Self between 1998 when Bell confessed and when Self died in prison in 2000 for killings he did not commit with Self being widely known to be mentally challenged rank up there with the Ox Bow Incident," said Gilligan.   "A travesty of justice but a convenient deflection in the heated 2000 election year that had all eyes focused in Florida instead of where the really juicy details stacked up along Texas' I-45 corridor. Let me reiterate what I just said.  The case of Michael Lloyd Self, framed as he was by crooked cops who were jailed for bank robbery could not have his false confession overturned because of a Supreme Court ruling....a ruling that should have every American writing their Congressmen and Senators, after Edward Harold Bell confessed to the I-45 killings.  Whatever confessions Self made was filtered through these crooked cops.  Were they framed to keep the lid on their knowledge of the I-45 killing program to which Bell attested?  Who knows, but one thing is sure, the PR campaign to lead the public to believe that there is nothing really fishy about the I-45 Corridor is another big bamboozle in the aorta, left and right ventricles and tiny capillaries of Big Oil's heart of darkness," said Gilligan.

"Of course Barry Seal, employer of Eugene Hasenfus whose plane crash blew the cover on Iran-Contra, was to have been protected by the Arkansas Attorney General, Asa Hutchinson, whose failure to protect Seal brought Hutchinson the directorship of the Drug Enforcement Administration, a position later filled by the sister of a leading Bracewell & Giuliani attorney in Texas," said Gilligan shaking his head and spitting sunflower seed hulls into a Styrofoam cup...."eat, spit, be happy," he said.  "I understand that her sister's husband was the understudy at the FBI of Oliver "Buck" Revell and both leading members of JINSA, the leading Jewish/Israeli organization that has a significant history, too.
"Loeb said of the book All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, that he had no idea that Petraeus and Broadwell were so chummy, but can you think of a stranger, but clearer way to send a message to the military that their goose is cooked or their turkey neck is rung?  What a comical title, were it not so serious! Unless that would be to shoot the U.S. Marine Corp Commandant's son-in-law through the lung and have Bush buddy, Senator William Frist, plug the hole!  I'd have a fainting spell in the middle of U.S. Congressional hearing on the Iraq War, too," said Gilligan noting that "Frank Serpico was so confident that the Knapp Commission, to which Giuliani was appointed as a 23 year old attorney, had succeeded in removing the corruption that he left the USA to hide out somewhere in the French or Swiss Alps!  Baghdad, Iraq and its nearby port of Basra was historically the transshipment point of the British opium supplier, David Sassoon's Middle-east opium, who warehoused and shipped the Golden Crescent's opium supplies from Basra, then Bombay, now known as Mumbai, up the Yangtze River to be traded for silk, spices and the China plates like those found on the Frolic in Mendocino County, California in 1950 to be reported by Layton in 1999.  That was the year after the San Jose Mercury New's Pulitzer Prize winning author, Gary Webb, was zeroing in on the Iran-Contra and the CIA drug connection in this area of California and Texas.   Gary Webb was thrown under the bus by Vernon Loeb's bosses at the Washington Post....Steve Coll now the Henry Luce Dean and Professor of Journalism at Columbia and Jeff Leen who tried to skewer Webb in a post-Dark Alliance debate during which Webb shared his conversation with the Houston Post's Peter Brewton.  Webb had drop kicked the ball right thorough the uprights as had Westhusting!  The evidence is clear, especially with the publication of Layton's 1999 book.  People were figuring out the bamboozle....the Civil War.....the opium....Dutch Boy lead paint, tobacco's legacy and who owned it," said Gilligan.  "What more do you need?  Yellow cake?  A few trillion dollars for Iraq war more than the original $60 billion price tag promised?  Fifteen of the nineteen 911 hijackers coming from Saudi Arabia so we invade Iraq?" asked Gilligan.  All of these developments made the 2000 Presidential election, the Supreme Court overreach from an 800 lb. legal gorilla that usurped the free election process in Florida that should have had a total recall and recount and left the power where it belonged...with the people...made anyone near the principals in the 2000 election potentially in a killing field for anyone who got in the way of what was essentially a carefully managed coup," said Gilligan.
"My big concern is that there are some very important stories in Houston that are waiting to be told and that Loeb was imported like Michael Bromwich to firewall these pressing stories....like why Michael Lloyd Self was not released from prison in 1998 after the confession of Edward Harold Bell and why Mr. Self, who had been arguably framed by corrupt police Don Morris and Tommy Deal, died in prison in 2000, a Presidential election year that rolled out a number of politically connected and inexplicable deaths like the boy whose name happened to be the same as the son of Dan Rather's key witness in the Ellington Field/Bush Air National Guard story that was hotter in 2000 than in 2004 had it surfaced then, which it, according to Texas Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes, could have.  The Houston Chronicle reporter given these stories was taken off the trail when it pointed directly to the kinds of corruption that had to have involved judges, prosecutors and police officers that provide the cover-up of criminality along I-45, 'The Most Dangerous Road In America,' said Gilligan.  "The sad thing is that the management of a journalists' docket, even the awards they receive, may push them in a direction that has nothing to do with their role as America's beacons of democracy and freedom," said Gilligan.
"Sadly the quagmire of Houston and its I-45 corridor now represented by Vernon Loeb finds itself with the progenitor of the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch frauds as reported in the April 25, 2007 edition of Salon.com in a Glenn Greenwald story in which the author said.....This is what turned out to be the real story here — that “experienced reporters” Schmidt and Loeb were completely manipulated by lying, scheming high-level officials in the military and government, and they fell for it by turning the front page of The Washington Post into a venue for false, highly manipulative government propaganda.   Just how Mr. Loeb proposes to rise to the challenge of accurately covering the even more powerful myth minder, Houston, is anybody's guess.
Just how the Edward Harold Bell and Michael Lloyd Self story fits into Vernon Loeb's new job with the Houston Chronicle is not initially clear unless or until one researches Houston's history with its infamous I-45 Corridor.  When Texas author Kathryn Casey published her latest book, Deliver Us, written decades after Edward Bell's killing spree, but in time for the 2016 Presidential election cycle, one of her reviewers provided the following Amazon.com review:

Classic Misinformation by Texas Power Elite Propagandist
on May 5, 2015
I don't hate it, but I don't like it. Like the DEA's Don Ferrarone's assertions through TEXAS KILLING FIELDS and Ginger Strand's KILLER ON THE ROAD that both want us to believe that I-45 is not a unique, well-traveled smuggling route that ties Dealy Plaza in Dallas to Galveston, the transshipment point for all manner of supplies for the Bay of Pigs, Iran-Contra and dating back to the filibustering exploits of William Walker. Casey leaves out so much. In the Epilogue she states "Nearly all the families I interviewed voiced frustration with inexperienced police departments." (p. 347). This was clearly not the case with Michael Lloyd Self who was jailed by crooked, well-trained cops who are now in jail. When Edward Harold Bell confessed in 1998 to eleven murders as part of a "program" of killings, Self should have been exonerated. Judge David Hittner who was to hear the case of Robert Corson, son-in-law of Walter Mischer, who Peter Brewton and others have claimed was on his way to court, not unlike Barry Seal, but in hopes that his knowledge of Iran-Contra would win him a plea-bargain in his savings & loan scandal crimes. Corson died like Mark Lombardi and Michael Lloyd Self of an inexplicable heart attack. Hittner had supposedly championed Michael Lloyd Self's case after Bell's confession all the way to the Supreme Court which was busy in 2000 with election issues in Florida when Self conveniently died in prison. Meanwhile, the story that Dan Rather and Mary Mapes would unpack in 2004 was being managed in Texas by former Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes in 2000 having been in his political quiver since the 1970's. That story, too, had ties to the infamous I-45 corridor. Self languished in prison and died two years after Bell's letters should have freed him.
Casey makes little to nothing of the low bail set for Bell's murder of Larry Dickens and his low-bail-jumping disappearance in Panama where he joined his father. Nothing is said of the high-profile bail bondsman who handled Bell's bond, either. The judge setting Bell's bail had a reputation for stiff ones especially in drug cases. Why the exception in Bell's murder case? If as Bell asserts he was working a program, his offshore supply company in Galveston where Bay of Pigs paymaster Paul Helliwell also operated a supply boat company and insurance company leaves one huge stone unturned for Casey who prides herself on researching the details. It is entirely possible in this backwater, historic smuggling route covered by Melanie Wiggins in THEY MADE THEIR OWN LAW, that there were multiple psychopaths like Bell operating without knowledge of each other and that any good police were hog tied by a system that found Harris County D.A. Johnny B. Holmes and M.E. Dr. Joyce Carter's crime lab turning to such mush that Harris County brought in the firewalling prosecutor in the Iran-Contra case, Michael Bromwich, to get to the bottom of the problems there. Bromwich had insured that Reagan and, more importantly, GHWB, were not implicated in the Iran-Contra mess which found GHWB pardoning North, Poindexter, Abrams and Weinberger. Does Casey address this problem with Houston and the I-45 Corridor or the fact that some of the biggest contributors to the local 100 CLUB which supports the families of fallen officers are some of the shadiest characters in the area? Nope. Why bring up an inconvenient truth? What paid for Bromwich's investigation before he moved on to the BP Deep Water Horizon spill? Confiscated drug money and lots of it! With Bell disappearing from Houston to Panama with its problems with Manuel Noriega who claimed "I have VP Bush by the balls," more should have been done to unpack these Bell-buttons.
Nor does Casey tell us that the names of the dead girls like Bracewell and Baker, were names potentially linked to local power elite families in Houston. They line up alongside Tot Harriman's more recent disappearance along I-45 (Ruth Rendon, "Family Awaiting News About Missing Woman, Houston Chronicle, July 30, 2001). Harriman's American husband whom she had met in Vietnam, Clinton Harriman, was linked to the USS Mayaguez case, the last battle of the Vietnam War with all of the connections that Col. Bo Gritz made for us with respect to Kung Sa and the Golden Triangle, further flags this smuggling route through Texas.
It's a no-brainer to show that what Gary Webb had uncovered in LA through DARK ALLIANCE what linked to Peter Brewton's reporting in THE MAFIA, CIA AND GEORGE BUSH in Houston. This was also left unexplored by Casey after she admits that Bell had been selling land in Terlingua, Texas, far West Texas, in Houston (p 101), while Brewton shows that the Mischer/CIA linked Terlingua airstrip (Peter Brewton, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, p. 94-96) was an integral part of the Iran-Contra scheme. Gary Webb's death on December 10, 2004 was not without its ties to Texas. In his debate with Jeff Leen of the Washington Post, Webb named Houston Post reporter, Peter Brewton, who told Webb that naming the CIA in a book is to make yourself a huge target. Brewton did not delve as deeply into the depths of the drug connection to Iran-Contra as did Webb.
There's a lot more to this story than is told here by Casey. Along I-45 the Houston Gulf Manor Airport owned by Salem Bin Laden was bought with the help of GWB's National Guard roommate, James R. Bath and the Saudi royal banker, Khalid bin Mahfouz. In 1992, the Presidential election year of VP Bush, H. Ross Perot and Bill Clinton, the FINCEN investigation into Saudi influence peddling in the U.S. received a stand down order that was as effective at taking the eye off the future 911 hijacker's plans as Self's heart attack was deflecting potential problems from Bell's confession....a man who has all the earmarks of a CIA psychopath-asset. Also in 2000 the year of Self's death, Ben Barnes' admitted to sitting on GWB's Ellington Field National Guard records that Marion Carr Knox and Ben Barnes were holding in the wings until 2004 when it didn't matter anymore. Enron, World-com, Columbia-HCA, and all the wolves were already in the hen house and the Neo-con's plans to flame the fires of war were realized. -WH

DAVID LLOYD SELF: A FACE THAT SHOULD HAUNT EVERY AMERICAN

On  June 21, 1992 five months before the GHWB, Clinton, Perot election when Peter Brewton's book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush had already been stalled by Simon & Schuster in New York and even by Ivan Shapolsky that published the book late leading to the law suit of Shapolsky vs. Brewton,  the Austin American Statesman published "Doubt About Case Fails To Free Man From Prison" which revealed a "good cop-bad cop" scenario with the Texas judicial system at the highest levels:

U.S. District Judge David Hittner overturned Self's conviction and in 1991 ordered the state to either retry Self or set him free within 90 days. But before Self was released, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a landmark ruling. The court ruled that defendants are not necessarily entitled to a new trial even if their coerced confessions are used as evidence against them.

It was in 1992 that the FINCEN investigation into the corruption inspired by the Houston area Saudi influencing peddling was, like poor Michael Lloyd Self, conveniently swept under the rug.

Maynard Gilligan is concerned that Vernon Loeb may have swept his family history with Solomon Loeb of Kuhn, Loeb & Co. under the same rug.  Gilligan cited a March 12, 2014 article (Brenna vs. Feinstein: CIA's Top Spy Sweeps Senate.  Ducks Under Wing of CFR and Greenspan's Wife, by Wilbur F. Debastudos).

In a 1962 movie, former U.S. Marine and actor, Lee Marvin, played old West outlaw Liberty Valance.  Valance beat up the local newspaper publisher, smashed his printing press and burned his office.  Today, Valance would be considered an amateur. The outlaws own the papers and we're not just talking about Rupert Murdoch.  The Washington Post published the fraudulent cover stories of Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch as propaganda to win consent for the bamboozled war in Iraq.  The author of those stories went on to co-write All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, an officer who could not have been more carefully groomed for his role in Iraq, nor suffered so similar a fall as that of Belisarius.   This reporter newspaper editor is now in the Vatican, Mecca and Medina of Big Oil:  Houston, Texas.  This is the city where the Medical Examiners' office was so mismanaged that the leading investigator in the Iran-Contra fiasco whose leading perpetrators dodged prison sentences with a Presidential pardon, was brought in to investigate, paid by confiscated drug money before he moved on to the BP Deep Water Horizon investigation.  The bamboozle goes on.  Two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner and U.S. Marine, General Smedley Darlington Butler called it what it is:  War Is A Racket.  Pat Tillman had seen the light shined on this alliance with darkness.

Rudy Giuliani Denies Being “Whoppish Dean of Devilish Districts”

Giuliani, New York, Baltimore and The Pain of Past Performances
By Frederick Douglass Bailey for CPW News Service

Former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani is reportedly not fond of the title “Whoppish Dean of Devilish Districts,” but the name is apparently sticking.

“Yep, when the 911 hijackers bombed the Twin Towers and Building 7 fell like a bucket of Dutch Boy lead paint, people were talking.   Soon the mayor’s chief enforcer, Police Chief Bernie Kerik, would find himself in Iraq preparing an indigenous security force before finding himself at the top of a list of candidates for GWB’s Director of Homeland Security.  That was before West Point’s chief ethicist, Col. Theodore “Ted” Westhusing found himself in Iraq covering the same territory only to find  his stomach turned by what he found there.  “Sullied no more,” he would have a direct confrontation with General David Petraeus whose life was snatched back from an inexplicably fired through-the-lung wounding by a soldier during an inspection at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  “The lung was fixed by Senator William Frist,” said Carville T. Rachet of Nashville, Tennessee.  “Nothing binds a soldier to a group or cause like being snatched from the traumatic jaws of death by a well known friend of GWB,” said Rachet.  Westhusing, furious with the handling of the Iraq security effort and killing of innocent Iraqi civilians was found dead from a single gunshot wound following his bitter confrontation with Petraeus in Baghdad’s Green Zone.

Kerik did not fade from the picture quietly.  “Though not selected as the Director of Homeland Security because of a corruption indictment, Kerik went to jail for accepting unauthorized additions to his phenomenal pay as New York’s chief law enforcement officer.   Meanwhile, New York’s ‘Whoppish Dean of Devilish Districts’ moved from Wall Street to the most powerful city on earth.  Washington D.C.,?” asked Morgan Carnathan from Carthage, Missouri and answering his own question.  “No, sir.  Houston.”

Carnathan argues quite convincingly that Houston’s increasingly outdated engineering leverage to supply oil and gas power makes it more powerful than New York, Chicago, L.A. and Washington put together.  “It is the most powerful city on earth for carbon-based fossil fuels and if you get in the way of their cartel they'll kill you!  So when Giuliani moved his law practice from New York to take up residence with the firm of Fentress and Searcy Bracewell, well, no surprise there."

Carnathan is concerned that "given the events in Ferguson and Baltimore and with Giuliani arguing that America’s police are under attack while his chief policeman in New York was shadier than a Foster Grant factory, someone needs to come forward and tell it like it is."

“The U.S. pecking order finds a fascist element of New England Anglican Puritan Protestant power elites using Irish Catholics like Joseph P. Kennedy and family to do their dirty work under the cloak of respectability.  Next in line are the Italian Catholics, then the Hispanics and Blacks.   For Black Americans with the murder or imprisonment of so many of their 60’s and 70’s Civil Rights era leaders came the lawlessness of the Bloods, Crips and other gangs, this is true and predictable.  It’s also perfectly in line with the kind of oppression that Kerik and Giuliani promoted in New York and Iraq.  When the power structure can turn the kids into instruments of their own oppression the Order’s plan is complete,” said Carnathan noting that U.S. policy in Iraq has left a nation of children ripe for the Bloods and Crips of the Middle East….ISIS.

“I have a friend in Texas who was reflecting on the McKinney pool party that caused a police officer to resign.  He said that in the 1980's he sat in the Dallas Cowboy's owner's box with an owner who had just recruited Herschel Walker who made his first touchdown as a Dallas Cowboy.  "Walker was from Walker County, Georgia, home of Augusta National with ties to George Herbert Walker and the Georgia Tories who mostly backed King George during the American Revolution and the place where that damn shill for the New England power elites....for Caleb Cushing, Franklin Pierce and even Jeff Davis and his Confederate Attorney General, Thomas Bragg, sat out William Tecumseh Sherman's dismantling of the South's railroad between Atlanta and Savannah, General Braxton Bragg, the most hated man in the Confederate army which was soldiered by boys, ninety percent of which had no slaves.  They did not know what Bragg was up to so my friend wrote the book Sulfur, Lead and Poppies to remind his family that it was all a sham.  The Cowboy's owner turned to his guests and smiled when Herschel went over the goal and said "see what money can buy."  The owner was from McKinney, Texas, but in Houston near his home in River Oaks was the frequented old Confederate House Restaurant where the decor was decidedly, well, Confederate.  In the 1980's this white friend whose family had owned a small farm between Atlanta and Savannah during the Civil War had lived in an apartment in Houston.  He had two children ages eight and six.  They wanted to swim.   The were both great swimmers.  There was a nearby private homeowners pool that offered competitive swimming competition for the community for a fee.  They welcomed the boys and took their money.   The boys won their first competition, but were denied their blue ribbons and trophies because they didn’t live in the subdivision as homeowners.  “They live in the apartments,” they were told.  The oldest of the two would die on the infamous I-45 Corridor near Ellington Field in Houston and became the subject of One Nation Under Oz,” said Carnathan.

“The boy’s father told me that with the discovery of the wreck of the New England China traders' opium clipper, Frolic, in 1950 with its story being published as Voyage of the Frolic: New England Merchants and the Opium Trade,  in 1999 (Stanford University Press) by California archeologist Thomas Layton he had to write Sulfur, Lead and Poppies in 2014, a title that usually brings the query..."About the war in Afghanistan?"  To which he replies, "No, about or own Civil War, but nothing has changed, but the quality of the weapons and technology used to kill."
Layton also discovered that Frederick Douglass, the great Civil War anti-slavery spokesman, also named Fred Bailey, worked in a Baltimore opium clipper ship yard.  Baltimore was hometown of the first test case for the war-baiting Fugitive Slave Laws and of the progenitor of the National City Bank boys, Alexander Brown, that gained General Smedley Butler's ire, morphing from Alexander Brown's investment firm into Brown & Root, KBR a key cog in the military industrialist complex's war machinery.   That test case for the Fugitive Slave Laws was James Hamlet who worked in the Brown’s Merchant Shot Tower making lead musket balls, but Baltimore would also be home to the paint companies that packed lead from Houston’s National Lead Company, now NL Industries, into paints and petroleum products….a devilishly deadly revenue stream,” said Carnathan noting that the penetrating critique of NORAD's 911 response, IGNORAD, was written by Scott Shuger, a heir of the Baltimore paint company that took the lead in lead paint sales.
“I just bought a copy of Sulfur, Lead and Poppies, the book that takes Layton’s discovery of the Frolic and pushes it to its logical conclusion based on the indisputable evidence.  The Civil War was a big drug deal and push to the opium crops for which we are still battling in the Middle East and which had Bernie Kerik, Rudy’s Bubba, pounding the Baghdad pavement.  Basra, Iraq was the British opium smuggler, David Sassoon’s, shipping port before he moved to Bombay, now Mumbai.  But look, Giuliani was the real 'Wolf of Wall Street.'  Giuliani protected Goldman Sacks and the other thieves in Lower Manhattan while on the Upper West Side Columbia University’s “Father of Applied Sociology,” Robert Merton, produced the Harvard economist from the hometown of Joseph P. Kennedy and George Luther Stearns who had tried to corner the world's lead market and was a "Secret Six" backer of Kansas Abolitionist John Brown, and of Faneuil Hall where Caleb Cushing, the leading opium importer and close friend of Franklin Pierce and Jefferson Davis, had invited Jeff Davis to speak for slavery while Frederick Douglass, Fred Bailey, argued against it.   Cushing, Pierce, even Davis were making the soi disant argument for civil war and were the Dana White of that day's Ultimate Fighting Championships and of controlling both corners for profit."
Don't forget the 2008 meltdown and its connection to Giuliani's city.    Nobel Prize winner, sociologist Merton's son Robert Merton the “Master of Mertonian Metrics” also known as Black Scholes had tanked the U.S. economy in 2008.  This event caused Merton’s mentor, Paul Samuelson, to call his student, Columbia's Robert Merton's son,  the creator of the 'devilish, monster, Frankensteinish credit default swap formulas.'  I don't know which were the bigger razor-bladed dildos," said Carnathan.... "Giuliani or Merton, but the stupid Americans swallowed it, though there were some like Christopher Hedges who refused to be hoodwinked by the bamboozle.  Now that Giuliani has moved for New York to the infamous I-45 corridor of Texas and unholy cow!"

“Giuliani is now plugging Life Lock, but he can’t guarantee your life against anything.  If he was that good he would have been fuming over the stand down order that the FBI received on the 1992 abandonment of the FINCEN or Financial Crimes Enforcement Network that could have netted the 15 Saudi September 11th hijackers that had his citizens jumping from the windows onto Bernie Kerik’s nice clean streets,” said Carnathan.  "I don't know how far back Rudy's Texas connections go, but in joining Bracewell & Patterson to become Bracewell & Giuliani, Rudy was joining the firm whose one attorney, William E. King, is the business partner of James R. Bath in Southwest Airport Services, who together with the Saudi royal family's banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz, bought for Salem Bin Laden, the Houston Gulf Manor Airport in Clear Lake Texas.  King, the Mayor of Kemah, had his front row seat along I-45's historic smuggling route that dated back to William Walker's filibustering and recruiting campaign in Galveston for "annexing" Honduras that aligns nicely with the Bay of Pigs and Iran-Contra.  Beyond this connection, King's Bracewell & Giuliani law firm was home to a key UTIMCO board member and sister of former Drug Enforcement Director, Karen Tandy Pomerantz, Colleen Tandy McHugh," said Carnathan.  "UTIMCO is the multi-billion-dollar investment fund of the University of Texas where not only Theodore "Ted" Westhusing graduated with a PhD, but also where JSOC's commander, Admiral William McRaven, has become the Chancellor in 2015.

In 1991( Long, William R., “BCCI Is One Financial Scandal Menem Hopes To Avoid," LA Times) Saudi’s BCCI, Bank of Credit and Commerce International, principal Gaith Pharoan, who had bought numerous banks with the help of James R. Bath, was the subject of investigation….the investigation that FINCEN would not pursue.  Pharoan had ties to terrorism.  Specifically to Al Qaeda.  By 2008 Gretchen Peters was writing for the NY Times (June 4, 2008) “Indicted Saudi Gets $80 Million US Contract” to “supply jet fuel to American bases in Afghanistan.”  BCCI was the primary money laundering bank for the Iran-Contra fiasco.  What was politically at stake in the FINCEN/Bath connection being avoided?  A GHWB/Clinton/Perot presidential election outcome and given the very real Iran-Contra connections through Clinton's home state with Barry Seal's Mena, Arkansas operation, Ross Perot had a vested interest in seeing the truth of that can of worms rise to the surface for fish bait.  Perot had sent attorneys to Missouri to interview Austrian pilot of the SR-71 Blackbird, Gunther Russbacher and he had pulled in the patriotic fervor of Col. Bo Gritz, one of the most celebrated soldiers in Vietnam who had first hand knowledge of the Middle East opium connections that inform the hypocrisy of America's "war on drugs" with its Gordian connection of what General Smedley Butler called the "racket of war."  At 23 years of age, Rudy Giuliani, had been assigned to New York's "Serpico Commission" AKA the official Knapp Commission whose leading FBI liaison, Brian Bruh who would be not only on  the Tower Commission that had Texas Senator, John Tower, looking into the legality of Iran-Contra for Ronald Reagan and who died in a plane crash during the roll-out of the findings, but Bruh became the first FINCEN head from 1991-1993 right across the 1992 election year when Bath's habits needed a washing, but didn't get it.  Would these connections have rustled up the 911 plot?  We may never know, but we do know that malfeasance was rampant and the key players continue to circle the same drain.

“I did hear Giuliani talking to Maria Barteloma this morning with those two Sicilians, or whatever, they sure aren’t Florentines or Paduans.  The Medici, Copernicus and Galileo were transparent compared to these draconian omerta modelers.  Giuliani was saying that we should repeal the minimum wage laws so that the young gang bangers can find jobs that instill some discipline.   I say that’s a good idea.  No minimum wage for the first six month in training and then ‘pow’ $15/hr. That will prevent human slavery and provide the boys in blue some real help in the law and order department and turn the Giuliani/Kerik dildo-ish bimbology back over to the true blues," said Carnathan.  "Meanwhile, we got GWB's younger brother circling the drain like a European monarch expecting to take over the family's historically and decidedly dark, like William Walker trying to take over Baja and Honduras, dog pile," said Carnathan.  "And where does JEB decide to flex his political muscle?  Germany?  At their organization formed after WWII with the Marshall Plan when following the fall of the Berlin Wall we did so little to incorporate the former USSR, our allies against Hitler, into some new form of NATO?  So what did we get?  Just what we got....the racket of endless warfare that Smedley Butler said was our stupid addiction," said Carnathan.

KATHRYN CASEY CALLED "TEXAS POWER ELITE PROPAGANDIST"

TEXAS' I-45 TRUE CRIME BY KATHERINE CASEY CALLED

by Peter Farquaad Siemens for CPW News Service

With so much from the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections of George Walker Bush lining up along the Dallas to Houston to Galveston, Texas I-45 highway called "the most dangerous road in America," a recent true crime analysis of this dangerous road and its relationship to GWB has become a source of literary criticism.  Home to the Texas Air National Guard the CIA-linked Airport named Ellington Field is where Bush's former Air National Guard roommate, James R. Bath, owns the fuel concession, but this is also where Bath's partnership with the Saudi royal banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz, helped the brother of Osama Bin Laden, Salem Bin Laden, to purchase the Houston Gulf Manor Airport, home to some of NASA's leading astronauts' private planes.  That airport was only a few miles south of Ellington.   Katherine Casey's latest book on I-45 has become a lightening rod and wind sock.

An Amazon.com review of Casey's new book digs deeper than most and suggests that the Texas author's timing on the release of the book is propaganda aimed at removing this highway's story from the approaching 2016 election that will undoubtedly revisit the Bush legacy in America.  A review by Will Harvey takes aim at Casey's new book.  The reviewer argues that the FBI's 1992 FINCEN investigation that had Saudi influence peddling in its crosshairs had zeroed in on Bush buddy, James R. Bath, but that like Scott Shuger's critique of the 911 NORAD response to the Saudi dominated attack on the World Trade Center, FINCEN had received an earlier "stand down" order.  Had FINCEN, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, been left to investigate Saudi improprieties in the U.S.A. it may well have caught the 911 plotters, fifteen of which were from Saudi Arabia where the Bush family enjoyed questionable relations within a nation known for its oppression of women and repression of free speech as evidenced in the recent imprisonment and flogging of Raif Badawi.

An on-line former USN intelligence officer,  reporter for Microsofts' and Bill Gates' Slate.com, Scott Shuger had written on January 6, 2002 IGNORAD: The Military Screw-up Nobody Talks About.  In less than a year Shuger died in an inexplicable witness-less scuba diving accident in California.

The review of Casey's book, Deliver Us, reads....

on May 5, 2015....

It is entirely possible in this backwater, historic smuggling route covered by Melanie Wiggins in THEY MADE THEIR OWN LAW, that there were multiple psycopaths like Bell operating without knowledge of each other and that any good police were hog tied by a system that found Harris County D.A. Johnny B. Holmes and M.E. Dr. Joyce Carter's crime lab turning to such mush that Harris County brought in the firewalling prosecutor in the Iran-Contra case, Michael Bromwich, to get to the bottom of the problems there. Bromwich had insured that Reagan and, more importantly, GHWB, were not implicated in the Iran-Contra mess which found Reagan pardoning North, Poindexter, Abrams and Weinberger.

Perhaps even more to the point of this reviewer's concerns about I-45 was what happened in 2004 that did not happened in 2000, but could have.   2000's unreported GWB Texas Air National Guard memos that focused on I-45's Ellington Field.  Though Ellington is still functioning the Bin Laden's Houston Gulf Manor Airport was razed after 911, an action that had some calling a "blatant destruction of potential crime scene evidence" and as troubling as the rapid export of the entire Bin Laden family from the U.S. prior to FBI interrogation.

Will Harvey's critique of Dan Rather and Mary Mapes' handling of GWB's Texas Air National Guard record received similar critique.  It reads....

2000 and 2004 Rather Slow on the Uptake
 on April 6, 2015

The Marion Carr Knox memos were, according to former Texas Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes, available in 2000, but Gore didn't need them. I would like to see Rather do a follow up on just why his 2004 story remained in the wings in 2000. Also, why the pastor's son, Patrick Carr, same name as Marion Carr Knox's son who when Marion refused to retell the story affirmed her story to the media. The pastor's son was found burned to death in his Ford Bronco on December 10, 2000 outside the CIA-linked Ellington Field not far from the Bin Laden owned Houston Gulf Manor Airport that was razed after 911. That Patrick Carr's last phone call was from a "friend" whose family owned property adjacent to the Cibolo, Texas Ultralight airport where experienced jet pilot, Salem bin Laden, mysteriously flew into a high power line in 1988. The Houston Gulf Manor airport was bought by Khalid bin Mahfouz and Bush buddy, James R Bath, whose attorney and air fuel partner at Ellington, William E. King, was the fishing buddy of the pastor's son's uncle. The dead 23 year old had just moved to Houston from Austin where he had worked for the business partner of Rebecca Rather. Dan Rather gave Rebecca a great plug for her book and she is obviously well connected to the Rather's of Texas' Nassau/Waldec Plantation and to Houston restauranteur, Tony Vallone. There is a lot more here for Dan and Mary Mapes to tell us, but this book is a start! Be even more outspoken before November 2016, please!

Startlingly, the death of the Texas pastor's son on December 10, 2000 was four years to the day of the suicide, two shots to the head, of Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance and subject of the 2014 film Kill the Messenger.  Webb had been in conversation with Houston Post reporter, Peter Brewton, whose 1992 book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, had been purposely derailed by Simon & Schuster, the New York publishers after having contracted with Brewton to provide Alice Mayhew, editor of Woodward and Bernstein's All The President's Men, as Brewton's editor.  Peter Brewton is also the son of a Texas Presbyterian Minister.

NO PAINTING OVER A NATIONAL BAMBOOZLE

Scott Shuger, Author of IGNORAD, Baltimore and Dutch Boy Lead-Based Paint
By Ivana Driver for CPW News Service

Scott Shuger, author of IGNORAD: The Military Screw-up Nobody Talks About (January 16, 2002), the blaring critique of U.S. preparedness during 911, had connections to the post-WWII military industrialist complex's bamboozling of the American citizenry through the prolonged use of lead-based paint.  Scott Shuger had grown up with a front row seat to the flow of the National Lead Co.'s Cold War era promotion of lead-based paint as a deterrent to the ignition of civilian structures during a nuclear explosion.  This government-assisted marketing strategy, diametrically opposed to the MAD theory of nuclear annihilation or "mutually assured destruction," had the citizens believing that lead-based paints would retard the burning of wooden houses based on Defense Department experiments that avoided the issue of radiation poisoning and irradiation like that which kills even Anthrax spores.  At the same time nations world-wide were banning lead in paint, then in gasoline, because of its health dangers.
The Maryland-based Baltimore Paint and Color Works family, the company that acquired National Lead's Dutch Boy Lead-based paint, made since 1907, was acquired by Sherwin Williams in 1980 and was one of the paints recommended for its effectiveness in limiting the ignition of wooden structures during nuclear bomb blasts.  The 1950's U.S. Civil Defense and its preparedness program's training film The House In The Middle touted the ability of white lead-based paint to stand up under the scorching heat of a nuclear fireball.  The National Fix-up, Clean-up and Paint-up programs promoted the nation-wide effort which energized the paint industry based on bad science but very effectively applied mind-science elements of psychology and sociology.  "These modern sciences inform K-Street, Wall Street, Madison Avenue and the halls of the Pentagon," said Peter Pezonus.  "Psychology and sociology took a subtle shift in recent decades from the research, analysis and critique of people like Upton Sinclair and Vance Packard to the wholesale use of applied sociology and psychology as a type of snake oil mystical, magical motivators through subtle individual and mass behavioral control geared toward some singular payoff, generally financial. Take, for example, Columbia University's 'father of applied sociology,' Robert Merton, whose son, Robert Merton of Harvard, won the Nobel Prize for his development of Black Scholes the financial formula for the credit default swaps that tanked the U.S. economy in 2008 and provided a bamboozle as big as Smedley Butler's assertion that 'war is a racket,'" said Pezonus who added...."Alfred Nobel's work is still blowing things up."
Pezonus is sure that "when people are given some apparently reliable pseudo-scientific justification for their irrational behavior rationality jumps head-first out the window from the highest floors."
While the effects of radiation from a nuclear  bomb blast are well known few know that Microsoft's and Bill Gate's Slate.Com’s leading journalist and the first real internet reporter, Scott Shuger, who mysteriously died in a witness-less scuba diving accident (June 15, 2002) in California five months after writing IGNORAD, wrote the critique of the U.S. preparedness for the 911 terrorism scenario.  Shuger, a former military intelligence officer, was from the family that developed reflective road paint made by Baltimore Paint and Color Works which profited from the Eisenhower initiative to duplicate in the U.S.A. the German autobahns in the post-WWII era of U.S. infrastructure expansion.

"With lead-based paint banned in Europe 50 years before its banning in the U.S., this means that Scott was clearly an insider as to the U.S. paint, varnish and lacquer business’ history with the U.S. Civil Defense program and its marriage to the lead mining industry that was featured in the March 8, 2013 article Somewhere Between the Dirty Low Down and the ProperLine," said Peter Pezonus, the article's author.   Pezonus noted that, likewise, the February 16, 2011 article The House In The Middle Should Have Been The House On the Ends by Winsip Custer exposes this little known chapter in faulty-science that had informed the larceny in the nation's war-profiteering legacy.  "Yes," said Custer, "it's a long legacy of larceny."
Site History

Before 1946, the site area was undeveloped and mainly used for agriculture. In 1946, Sophie Shuger et al. purchased the site and constructed the Baltimore Paint and Color Works. The company manufactured paints and paint type coatings. Production of similar products has continued through the years even though the line of products may have expanded or contracted according to market conditions. In 1975, the Baltimore Paint and Chemical Corporation merged into and became Elt, Inc. Elt, Inc. changed its name to Dutch Boy, Inc. in 1977 and this company subsequently sold the land and it’s building to the Sherwin-Williams Company in August 1980.

The Sherwin Williams Company maintains three permits from the Maryland Department of the

Environment (MDE). The company has an Air Management Administrative Construction Permit owing to the use of liquid and powder type compounds, a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit for discharge of cooling water to Gwynns Falls and ultimately to the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River, and an Oil Control Operation Permit owing to the use of oil in boilers.

Environmental Investigations

An extensive history of spills, cleanups and remedial actions and proposals exists for the Sherwin-
Williams Baltimore facility. These incidents have generally related to leaking lines and tanks, tank
overflows, cleaning of tanks, broken hoses, couplings disconnecting during use, dropped and broken containers, rusted containers and damaged seals.

The property came to the attention of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as having possible groundwater contamination when an inspector noted occasional changes in the color of a stream coincident with discharges from the site. As a result of the observations, Sherwin-Williams installed and sampled five monitoring wells in June 1985. Volatile organic compounds, lead and chromium were detected, although lead and chromium were not detected in 1987 samples. Seven additional wells were installed at the site in 1988.
The NY Times obituary, similarly affirmed Scott's connections to this prominent Baltimore family:
"Born and raised in Baltimore, he held a bachelor's degree from Carleton College and a doctorate in philosophy from Vanderbilt. He was a naval intelligence officer and was on the staff of The Washington Monthly before becoming a freelance writer in Los Angeles.
Survivors include his wife, Debora; a daughter, Dale Shuger of Brooklyn; two sisters, Nancy Shuger of Baltimore and Lisa Shuger Hublitz of McLean, Va.; and his parents, Sewell and Virginia Shuger of Baltimore.”
From Scott Shuger, 50, Pioneer Internet Journalist, (NYT, June 18, 2002, retrieved from http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/18/nyregion/scott-shuger-50-pioneer-internet-journalist.html on 6/6/2015).

"The fact of the matter is, Mr. Shuger, with Sewell Shuger being the production man a Baltimore Paint,  was in a perfect place historically to understand just how the military industrialist complex does.....and doesn't.....work," said Pezonus who said that the Winsip Custer  article "Deathbed Confession Sheds Light...", also provides important insights into this national embarrassment.

"Well, when the wars are over the lead purveyors look for someplace else to make a buck...paint....gasoline additives.  National Lead Co.  like the other petro-chemical companies domiciled in Houston has been hand-in-hand in its relationship with the Atomic Energy Commission that had sidelined Oppenheimer via Rice University's Kenneth Pitzer and William Liscum Borden, while finding a cross-town ally in the bamboozle.   If the science was, like global warming, stacking up against lead decades earlier it's not easy to ween industry off of this lucrative revenue stream.  Same with big tobacco that is looking now to replace its lost revenues with the revenue from ZMAPP that fights Ebola....which is likely no better than those vaccines that were waiting in the wings because of the internal conflicts at CDC and BARDA. Tobacco Senator from North Carolina, Richard Burr, has erected legislatively a Manhattan Project-like wall of silence around BARDA and ZMAPP, a principle shared with the silence surrounding the lead additives in paint and gasoline being much the same," said Pezonus who noted that the Huntington Library at San Marino, California had copies of the "The Dutch Boy's Lead Party" children's coloring books in its archives that rivaled tobacco's Joe Camel commercials.

"With R.J. Reynold's Gordon Gray, father of Bush legal counsel, C. Boyden Gray, heading the committee that de-frocked Oppenheimer for his refusal to make bigger bombs we can see how ZMAPP slipped right into the new equation for Ebola," said Pezonus.  "National Lead Company became NL Industries and for years had an address at 3000 N. Sam Houston Parkway, Houston, Texas, the current address of Halliburton Industries.  On the current board of NL Industries is Pierce Marshall, son of J. Howard Marshall, the Yale attorney that headed the U.S. government oil procurement program during WWII just like Samuel Prescott Bush had been in charge of small weapons procurement for the government during World War I.  J. Howard Marshall married Anna Nicole Smith from Mexia, Texas," said Pezonus noting that Pierce Marshall had teamed up with one of the Koch brothers to fight for control of Koch Industries after J. Howard had apparently left his fortunes to the buxom former Rick's Cabaret dancer, a decision that Pierce Marshall fought and won.
"Just south of Houston is one of the world's largest sulfur domes that was exploited for gun powder and other products by the Frasch Process that was funded by Wall Street financier, Bernard Baruch, son of one of Robert E. Lee's surgeons and promoter of 'hydro-therapy,' Dr. Simon Baruch," said Pezonus.  "That was back when lead pipes carried drinking water to the tap," Pezonus concluded.
