     Jesus Christ sat down with Satan and listened to what he had to say.  We’ve all heard the story…..“If you are the son of man…..sell me your soul.”   That same story gets picked up in various forms throughout history.  Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, a famous black guitar player at the crossroads of his life, Bob Dylan’s famous quote about the deal he had made with the devil. 

     So what are the chances that Toby Keith and Willie Nelson will succeed with their song’s proposal?  "We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing 'whiskey for my men and beer for my horses.'" On the face of it Jesus didn’t seem to fare too well against the evil whip snappers and crucifiers, except that he is said to have been raised from the brutal death that evil minds inflicted on him.  

     And if there was a place to look for the Devil, a high perch, a pedestal upon which he, like some foreboding vulture or vamp is crouching and watching where would it be?  Will he drop down out of the sky like Rudolf Hess in his Messerschmidt and onto the estate of Lord Hamilton on May 10, 1941?  Was he a friend of Gerard Hamilton or of Hamilton's friend, Christopher Isherwood?   Is he the High Priest of the Temple of Set, Col. Michael Aquino, of the Church of Satan, Anton Levay or of the Temple Ordi Orientis, Alister Crowley, who the future spy novelist and British Intelligence officer, Ian Fleming, proposed to Winston Churchill, should be the one to interview the downed Nazi General Hess?  Hess was the number three in power in Hitler’s Reich and presumably came to make a deal with their fellow Europeans.

      If that were the case, one would expect that the ultimate personification of evil, I will call him…. Percival Gotcha….why not?  He seems to have had so many names over the centuries…….logic dictates that he would have followed Crowley’s trail closely.  Crowley’s Temple Ordi Orientis is today identified with the Church of Satan, but according to Crowley it originated in Egypt.  Rudolf Hess grew up in Alexandria, Egypt.  That fits, but not playing a guitar like the rock stars and blues musicians who are alway selling their soul for a leg up. No the Devil would have to make another deal with Hess….perhaps as he did with Hitler in getting him to trade in his paint brush for canons and bombs.  Hess' hobby was flowers.  Specifically orchids.  Come to think of it their blossoms can look like bright bomb clusters against a carpet of green foliage.  Alister Crowley’s home on Loch Ness would eventually be sold to famous Led Zepplin guitarist.... ‘you need toolin’ baby and I ain't foolin…..on my stairway to heaven'…..Jimmy Page.   So far Page hasn’t gone down like the Zepplin Hindenberg, but whether he made a deal like Dylan’s with Percival Gotcha, he isn’t sayin’….and baby I ain’t playin.

     We know that Hitler’s top General, Heinrich Himmler, was an occultist and pagan policy worshipper.  Himmler found comfort in saluting the old Norse Gods of war and thunder, brutality and plunder.  Loving what is and remembering that Plato said "only the dead cease to experience war," Himmler and Goebels, Hitler’s propaganda minister, would use another famous German occultist, Hanns Heinz Ewers, to espouse the virtues and powers of the brutal German Nazi State.  Ewers would put his occultist persuasions to work touting the German war hero and writer of the Nazi National Anthem, Horst Wessel while Christopher Isherwood wrote about the decadence of Nazi Germany through the eyes of a Norse masochist named Mr. Norris whose stories would inform the popular film Cabaret.  Norris was a crumby Communist, not a Nazi Fascist thus throwing the suspicion of his Godlessness left instead of right.
      It was during this same time that U.S. Marine Corp General Smedley Butler would reveal the American German Bund's proposed overthrow of the U.S. government with him as the leading military officer.  Butler explained how he felt like the local church pastor preaching weekly about truth, justice and love, but owing his allegiance to the Wormwood of a demon hanging from the church's ornate and expensive rafters.  Butler's story would be ratified by John Rogge's testimony, the U.S. Justice Department's chief investigator on the plot before he was unceremoniously fired by "Mr. Savage" of the FBI who said he represented the U.S. State Department.

     Much has been made of the fact that the United States under the direction of our CIA Director, Allen Dulles, imported some of the sharpest knives from the Nazi kitchen after the war to help us combat the Godless Russians.  It was perceived as a type of back-burning used to snuff out forest fires.  Use evil against evil, or so the logic goes.  Jesus avoided such deal making as feudal, but Dulles dropped most of the former Storm Troopers into San Antonio, Texas in a secret operation called "Paperclip".
     “Those who play with fire get burned,” Mary surely told Jesus as a boy.

     So is the United States’ sad state today the result of playing with fire or have we always been so inclined?  In the United States the Temple of Set or the Church of Satan was headed in the 60’s and 70’s by San Francisco occultist, Anton LeVay and Col Michael Aquino.  LeVay did not demonstrate against the Vietnam War like the flower children of Haight Ashbury.   He was eclipsed by the Presidio's Col. Michael Aquino, who according to figures in the child pedophilia case called The Franklin Coverup, was delivering suitcases of money to the Iran-Contra network while Mrs. Reagan consulted her astrologer to help keep her husband Ronnie, the President, out of harm’s way.   If Ronnie played a guitar, he wasn’t good enough to find himself at a crossroads or on a stairway to heaven as a music rock star, but rather as a political one.  A Republican of the right his handlers from Yale sipped mushroom soup out of a skull with a bone handled spoon and kept Ronnie in the semi-dark delivering fresh clusters of shrooms.    It doesn’t appear, however, that Percival Gotcha has a particular political persuasion or party.  He seems willing to create mischief at all points on the compass rose and will use whatever temptations he can find to entice a soul to sell itself into slavery.

     The U.S. Army's Col. Michael Aquino, a celebrated Green Beret, was succeeded first by a Texan named Dunn and then by a Texas academic who translated the work of Hanns Heinz Ewers from German to English, Stephen Edred Flowers who sometimes goes by the name Edred Thorsson. Flowers chronicles his dark ascent in Black Runa (1995).  Both Dunn and Flowers were Magister Templi IV, the Temple's Grand Master and the same title as Aquino who retired in 1996. Flowers, from Austin,  is a professor in the Austin Community College system where the favorite city saying is "keep Austin weird!"

     Anton LeVay’s widow married the U.S. Government’s self-proclaimed expert on the Franklin Coverup, former Special Agent in charge of the FBI offices in Dallas and Los Angeles, Theodore “Ted” Gunderson.  Mrs. LeVay reportedly divorced Gunderson after two weeks.  Gunderson apparently didn't have the correct doctrine of the separation of church....or coven.... and state.
     Gunderson had immersed himself in not only the Franklin Coverup but also the Presidio child molestation case involving Col. Michael Aquino and the CIA's clandestine drug operations exposed by San Jose Mercury News reporter, Gary Webb.  Gunderson provided help for the mother of Johnny Gosch who was abducted in Iowa while on his paper route in the 1980's.  

     Willie Nelson and Toby Keith have not been seen anywhere near the Lukenbach region where Willie and Toby, if not Waylon and the boys, were supposedly lifting their glasses against the evil forces there, nor are they saying whether or not they made any deals like those reported by Bob Dylan and others.  Of course the troublesome Comanche Indians of Texas, in a form of cultural back-flash-firing, were subdued by the militant German Immigrants who by in large came from the Hessian armies employed by the British to subjugate the American colonists and who after the American Revolution found the East Coast to be inhospitable.  Those German Lukenbachians who left their four car garages and converted to Christianity were mostly stoic, tongue-tied, German Lutherans....and many Roman Catholics.... who loved Mel Gibson's brutal Passion of the Christ and his father's Holocaust denying beliefs.  Though they never knew that Gibson's movie distributor, Regal Cinemas, was purchased by the George W. Bush privatized, Austin-based, University of Texas' multi-billion dollar, UTIMCO investment fund nor that Mel's mother and sister lived in oil rich Houston.
     Out on the frontier it is easier to cut deals with anyone, as Jesus learned after 40 days, or to revert to their pagan gods and golden calves. It appears that it is  far too soon to be buying whiskey for the men much less beer for the horses.
