CARTELS TO PROMOTE POPE'S VISIT
by Winsip Custer CPW News Services
With the arrival of Pope Benedict in Mexico to celebrate his first visit to the world's largest representation of Roman Catholics many Mexican school students vowed to learn Latin and Italian while cities on the Pope's itinerary celebrated the hope of increased tourism.
The nation's leading drug cartels in an uncharacteristic show of solidarity pledge to support the Pope during his visit and to promote peace and harmony for the duration of his stay. To commemorate the historic event all of the cartels will insert into baggies of cocaine a photo of the Pope kissing a Muslim Iman.
Calling the Pope's visit the Pope-and-Dope Celebration, the cartels are hopeful that this show of goodwill and solidarity with the church will boost sales, thus providing for increased benevolences. "Many of our most ornate basilicas, churches and missions are in need of silver and gold polish which as we all know doesn't come cheap. Tattoo artists are said to be deeply discounting tattoo icons of Mother Mary provided that her face is only a skeleton's skull," said Carlos Vega Blanco Verde, a spokesperson for the COMMANDS which stands for the Coalition of Mexico's Murderous and Nefarious Drug Smugglers.
