With sweeping reforms crossing the Middle East, Roman Catholics are demanding that the Roman Catholic Church revise its 2000 year tradition of leadership style, to set term limits on Bishops, Cardinals and Popes.
"Why shouldn't we have the opportunity to change our leaders if we want to? We know that the Apostle Peter was the 'Keeper of the keys of the Kingdom," but who says the keys can't be passed around more and less frequently?" The question came from Mother Rebecca Ruth Angelica of the Sisters of Renewable Remedies. "We don't care that on paper our ecclesiastical system looks like Pharaoh Khufu's pyramid and that life-long appointments make hiding pedophiles a game of musical chairs, or that their placement is often lost when a Bishop or Cardinal gets dementia. All that could be remedied by tweeking the system a bit....and while we're at it, I think that Sisters like myself who always wanted to marry, but found that possibility gone when their angry parents dropped them off at the convent when they were twelve years old, should be allowed to do so."
Reports are surfacing that the Swiss Guard may be siding with the progressives and that Pope Benedict is holding a vigil in the Sistine Chapel while trying to decide whether to arm all willing deacons, priests and other church leaders while redesigning a less pointy mitre or hat....a new symbol of his identification with the masses, even though he refuses to consider any of their demands.
