ENTREPRENEURS DON'T ACT ALONE

     When we think of the American experience and the French word used to describe it…. “entrepreneur”…..we often lose our sense of humor, wisdom and deeper insight, according to Rufus “Frackhappy” Rumbledown the CEO of Frackhappy LLC.

     “You ought to know,” he said,   “Your last name is Thoreau.   Do you think at Walden Pond, Henry David Thoreau started out with nothing?  Remember that his ancestors had to catch a ride across the Atlantic and I guarantee you they didn’t pay for the ships out of their own pockets.  Then the American Indians showed them how to plant corn to stay alive.  Thoreau had to borrow a hammer to build his Walden cabin and when Ayn Rand imagined Dominique Francon's lusty thoughts of being drilled into ecstasy was it alone she reached that height?  Or with the collective of at least two including Howard Roark whose sky scrapers needed fearless beam walkers, brick layers and proud plumbers?” asked Rumbledown noting Einstein's love of the plumbing profession.  "Pharaoh always imagined himself as a lone wolf entrepreneur and Moses was forever caught between motivating the unimaginative and lazy and the misguided tyrant who enhanced their bonds. All human progress is dependent upon the upward momentum toward enlightenment," said Rumbledown who noted that Congressman Paul Ryan is a devotee of Ayn Rand.

     Dan Stewart, former Vice President of Mitchell energy said of the U.S. Government…"They did a hell of a lot of work....and I can't give them enough credit for that. DOE started it, and other people took the ball and ran with it. You cannot diminish DOE's involvement."
     
     "Of course, that raises the question," said Rumbledown, "who was running the DOE and toward what conclusions?  That fracking fluid was essential for our national security?  And who in the DOE was making that decision?  For how long?" he wondered.  "Who benefits?"

     Steward directly refutes Romney’s claim that the energy entrepreneur acts as a Lone Ranger to develop his product.  As for Romney's bad mouthing Obama's support of wind and solar energy, some of which proved as unprofitable as one of Rumbledown's many dry holes, Stewart said....

     “I don't bad mouth government involvement in solar and wind because we have to be experimenting with that. We're not far enough along in them for solar and wind to provide much energy. Gas has bought us the time to develop the other things. Renewable and nuclear alone cannot provide us the base load energy we need today, but we need to get started in developing them. Government has to be looking down the road. We really cannot wait to develop those other energies. Industry doesn't look as far down the road as the government should. And politicians are often looking for their next election,” said Stewart
     "Government has to be looking down the road?" said Rumbledown.  "I buy that.  It damn well better have its vision checked regularly!" said Rumbledown who had just seen a documentary on wind energy leases that had one community up in arms.
