Onyango Obama, President Obama's half-uncle, age 67 from Framingham, was arrested in Middlesex County, Massachusetts at 7:05 p.m. according to spokeswoman Cara O'Brien of the Middlesex district attorney's office.
"I think I will call the White House," said Mr. Obama when asked if he wanted to call anyone according to the police report. At the time of the incident President Obama was vacationing with his family on Martha's Vineyard.
Mr. Obama was pulled over in front of the Chicken Bone Saloon, not to be confused with the larger Turkey Bone Saloon about a mile away from the scene. According to arresting officer Val Krishtal, Mr. Obama was belligerent and would continually interrupt the officer.
Failing a sobriety test, Mr. Obama's companion in the car who identified himself only as "Nickie Boy" claimed that Mr. Obama had only had one or two beers, but that he couldn't see the top of the bar from his position on the floor to verify the exact number that Mr. Obama consumed.
Parties close to Mr. Obama are concerned that he might be deported for driving under the influence, failure to yield at an intersection and negligent operation of a vehicle. "I just hope they don't send him back," said Michael Bowonahmo a bar patron who claimed that the video he provided showed the danger Onyango could face for an incident in which his action was the cause of a mishap among a group Kenyan soldiers. The White House has not commented on the half-uncles troubles.
