CAMEL CARAVAN TO CLEARER CONSCIOUSNESS
by Winsip Custer, CPW News Service
When she was a girl Robyn Davidson, now sixty-five, crossed the Australian outback with four camels. It was a 1700 mile trip, mostly on her own, but with backing from National Geographic Magazine. Her book and movie, Track, was directed by John Curran staring Mia Masikowska and Adam Driver in 2013.
Last week a consortium of U.S. historians led by Dr. Lowell P. Wigglesworth announced that they would ask Robyn Davidson to make another 1700 mile camel trek, but across the Great American Southwest. "We want to call attention to this lost chapter in U.S. history," said Wigglesworth and no one could do that like Robyn Davidson can."
It was during the 1980's that Robyn Davidson was dating Salman Rushdie, British knighted author of Satanic Verses, who at one point had to go into hiding for fear of an assassination attempt following a fatwa pronouncement by an Iranian cleric.
"We are doing everything we can to bring this lost episode in American history to light because it does so much to illuminate life in the present including the cross-cultural clustered confusion of a world on fire with fear of terrorism from all quarters," said Wigglesworth. "With 911 termed a new generation's 'Pearl Harbor' fifty years later and terrorism had no government. This makes the war on terrorism a perfect formula for endless warfare the wet dream of the war racketeers and the lucrative and deadly racket of war," said Wigglesworth.
Wigglesworth's study of the camel caravan across the Great Southwest, a project first envisioned by the Confederate President Jefferson Davis and picked up by the Union Army in Texas after the Civil War and not abandoned until 1866 on the eve of the completion of the Union Pacific's transcontinental railroad crossing, was reported in a July 7, 2015 article "Shelby Foote and Walker Percy: No Longer Lost In The Cosmos: A book review of The Correspondence of Shelby Foote and Walker Percy" by author W. Harvey. "Wigglesworth's life work has been on the real unspoken and well-hidden motive for the U.S. Civil War," said Harvey noting the difficulty that Wigglesworth faced in the peer review of his doctoral thesis and reflected in a May 31, 2013 article by Justin Nicholas Tyme.
Harvey shares a growing enthusiasm for the planned camel crossing from Texas to California up the Rio Grande River to New Mexico, up to Las Vegas, New Mexico where Dan Rather and former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld co-owned the Tecolote Ranch and then over to Arizona and on to San Diego because of its ability to shed new light on America's forgotten past....that the U.S. Civil War was motivated more by a race to the poppy fields of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, India and Turkey than it was a race to end slavery. "The short period of Reconstruction was the smoking gun amid an arsenal of smoking guns," said Harvey adding..."and Wigglesworth nailed it!" In the Shelby Foote/Walker Percy article Harvey wrote:
Historian Lowell P. Wigglesworth has explored Shelby Foote's avoidance of the original documents. "Ken Burns and Shelby Foote stand in a long line of historians and story tellers that tell half a truth, but they aren't alone," said Wigglesworth. "One of the most powerful examples of the denial that the South's proposed route across the Great Southwest was a threat to the Northern China traders can be seen in the way that the newspapers of the Northeast in the last half of the 19th Century covered-up the fact that the race was on to the Pacific and that that race was the real motive for the Civil War. You can't look at the popular and highly awarded books to discover the truth of the matter. They are spinning the propagandized improper proper line. It must be dug out of the original documents that Shelby Foote was not wanting us to examine. Take, the coverage of the U.S. governments' camels that were envisioned by Jeff Davis, continued under Union General Giles Alexander and Morgan Lewis Smith from the current site of the Truehart-Adriance Building in Galveston, Texas. The Briscoe Library collection at the University of Texas states: "John Adriance, a native of Troy, New York, went to Texas in 1835. After participating in the Texas Revolution, he was engaged in the mercantile business, first with Cyril Beardslee at Columbia* from 1836 to 1839 and then with Morgan L. Smith with whom he carried on business with foreign ports and owned and operated Waldeck Plantation. Adriance was involved with the promotion of railroads and canals, and he was a deputy for the Commissary Department and a county commissioner during the Civil War."
Morgan Lewis Smith was, not surprisingly, with Grant fighting Bragg at Forts Henry and Donelson and with William T. Sherman at Vicksburg and the Atlanta to Savannah march.
This was one of the best kept secrets in U.S. history, not because camels needed less water, carried up to 700 pounds and could cover, with only a rider, up to 80 miles a day, but because their acquisition at Smyrna, home port of David Sassoon's opium empire, was followed up after the Civil War by the Union until the Union Pacific made the trek unnecessary. These camels were not just being prepared to carry food and supplies to the distant military forts of the Southwest. The Alta California newspaper reported this orchestrated cover-up in 1885 as it noticed that a Phoenix, Arizona newspaper had seen how the major papers of the Northeast had denied that the camels ever existed.
The report begins...'Several times during the past few months the Gazette has noticed that in the Eastern press an item, copied from some Galveston, Texas paper, to the effect that the United States Government never purchased or imported to this country any camels.' The article shows an attempt to erase a significant piece of history that essentially defined what was then an East-West trade route, but which with the evolution of new drug markets like cocaine also became a North-South trade route.
Galveston had been the launch pad for William Walker's expedition to Honduras, the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba and the Iran-Contra supply lines into Central America and many other ventures operating out of this future petro-chemical corridor of Texas. The false report supposedly originating in Galveston where the Union Buffalo Soldiers had taken over Jefferson Davis' camel caravan after the Civil War even as they were the primary enforcers of Reconstruction in Texas under the brothers, both Union Generals, Alexander Giles and Morgan Lewis Smith, was an attempt at credible deniability originating from the front lines of this historic war zone and 'Wall Street of the South'. The Buffalo Soldiers were managed out of Galveston, but domiciled at the Nassau-Waldec Plantation** near Round Top, Texas in Fayette County and owned by members of Dan Rather's family***....a post-Civil War camel handling site that shifted to Camp Verde near Kerrville, Texas over time. The Nassau Waldec plantation area was first settled in the 1830's by William Houston Jack while Camp Verde was established by rancher and Confederate soldier Captain Charles Schreiner. Schreiner ran the camp store.
The Editor of the Alta California paper caught it! The Fourth Estate, at least there in Alta, had not yet pinched the empire's growing mound of anesthetically rich incense. The recently liberated slaves and the poor of the South like the poor of the major metropolitan centers of the Northeast....Boston, Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis....would embrace like the poor Chinese....the coming supply of mind-altering agents," said Wigglesworth who noted the 200 percent rise in opioid addictions in the U.S. since the beginning of the "war on terrorism" and Iraq and Afghanistan wars. "It was no accident that Lance Armstrong was doping for the US Postal Service team with it history with the Pacific Mail and Steamship Company, Cornelius Vander Starr's AIG, and the post-Civil War practice of rewarding people with 'Star Routes' across America like the Russell's Pony Express way stations, but it welcomes a showdown as in China with a cultural revolution that could easily be the death of a democracy," he concluded.
"Lowell P. Wigglesworth was dumbfounded when he heard Shelby Foote admit that he consulted no original manuscripts in his histories of the Civil War because as he told CSPAN's Brian Lamb eighteen minutes into their C-SPAN interview '....it's all been gone over before,' said Harvey adding...."apparently not very well. I cannot, CANNOT, emphasize strongly enough what a red flag this admission by Shelby Foote was. No sincere academic would tell his students...and everyone in a free society is, or should be, a student of history....would ever, ever tell a student NOT to do original research into original documents ON ANY SUBJECT! This is the equivalent of the Washington Post saying 'don't read anything, but us.' Why? 'Because we have the corner on the truth.' Really? Let me say it as clearly as I possibly can, meaning no disrespect to Shelby Foote's cherished memory....and to Ken Burns by association......HEAPING STEAMY PILE OF PUTRID BULL SHIT!" said Harvey with a vapor trail following his words from his nostrils.
"Did historians question the fact that while Jefferson Davis laid out the route to San Diego he had also suspiciously opposed the efforts of Georgia to fund rail expansion while his Vice-President of the Confederacy, Alexander Stephens, would deliver his "Cornerstone Speech" at Savannah on March 21, 1861 arguing that slavery was THE motive for war. Four years earlier Stephens had written his "railroad letters" in 1857 describing the Savannah to Atlanta, the entire Georgia Central Railroad, as the 'great snout' of the American railroad west. Stephens would reference William Washington Gordon who for three decades had been pushing for the Georgia Central Railroad," said Wigglesworth.
"William W. Gordon was, according to Stephens, the heart of the South's rail ambitions and his letters contain correspondence with England's Sir Robert Baden-Powell. In fact, Gordon's daughter, Juliette McGill Kinzie Gordon, founded the Girl Scouts in the U.S. after a visit with Robert Baden-Powell in Britain. After the Civil War William Tecumseh Sherman made multiple visits to Juliette Gordon's uncle in Savannah," said Wiggleworth pointing out Sherman's close, familial relationship with William W. Gordon and his family. Sherman's early relationship with the South's premier railroad visionary combined with Sherman's relocation to Northern California to work for the railroad there only to return to Vicksburg and Atlanta to make 'Sherman's bow ties' of the South's 'great snout' decries the simplistic notion that the Civil War was fought over slavery of Africans while a clearly observable effort to minimize the rail and China trade motive laces our history books to this day.
We would expect to find William W. Gordon's rail ambitions informed by the leading New England families involved in the early U.S. China trade..... Huntingtons, Russells, Tafts, Delanos, Heards, or, even more significant given his place in the fashioning of the Wanghia Treaty with China and his close association with Franklin Pierce and Jefferson Davis and to Frederick Douglass (Fred Bailey), Caleb Cushing. According to Anton Chaikin, author of Treason in America: From Aaron Burr to Averill Harriman, John Perkins Cushing and Caleb Cushing had about the same blood relationship as did Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. They were cousins. John Cushing was called by the Chinese "Ku-Shing" and his 60' cutter won the first U.S. yacht race in 1832.
Juliette McGill Kinsie Gordon had the pedigree connecting Georgia's William W. Gordon to the New England power elites, the Brahmins, who were seeking to cut short the trip from the Orient to the U.S. and Europe.
From the 1830's to 1867 with the invention of Dynamite, Alfred Nobel's explosive new nitro-glycerin-stabilizing product in that year, the South held, up until then, the flatland incentive for America's opium cartel to control the Great Southwest land route that found Gordon's hometown of Savannah and its "Great Snout" as the most accessible Atlantic doorway connected to the Pacific along a relatively mountain-less Southwest passage. Civil War was the ticket to change this scenario and the abolition of slavery provided the high moral ground that disguised the baser motives behind the well-managed propaganda.
"Fort Tejon, the first U.S. Army garrisoned fort in California that actually domiciled the camels for over five months, downplayed their role. The California State park's Fort Tejon Historical Association's website states: The camels have been one of the greatest myths and legends of Fort Tejon's past. The story is great and many writers have latched on to it. It is great stuff for western lore, but most stories about this interesting experiment have little grounding in fact. Unfortunately, many writers are perpetuating these myths and rely on the early authors that wrote in the 1920s to 1960s who based their research and assertions on non-historical methods.
In 1903 Charles C. Carroll covered the 1855 $30,000 appropriation for Davis' camels following his appointment by President Franklin Pierce as Secretary of War in 1853. It's in "The Government's Importation of Camels: A Historical Sketch," in Report of the Chief of the Bureau of Animal Industry, United States Department of Agriculture, Volume 20, (Washington, DC: U.S. Department of Agriculture. pp. 391–409).
"There we go again, missing the Alta, California's 1885 article and Jefferson Davis' own book with a clear record of the camel's significance" said Wigglesworth. "Fort Tejon has plaques to commemorate Edward Fitzgerald Beale's camels, but denies that there was an official "camel corp". Call it what you will, it existed!" said Wigglesworth, "but you have to ask 'why?'! Remember, too, Beale's close association to USN Commodore Robert Stockton for whom Fort Stockton, Texas and Fort Stockton, San Diego, California at the Presidio are named. The dots connect like camel droppings across the Great Southwest," said Wigglesworth noting that Beale's mother was the daughter of USN Commodore Thomas Truxton, close friend of filibusterer Aaron Burr and Samuel Swartwout the customs collector of the Port of New York. Truxton, who had entertained Burr in his home after Burr killed Hamilton, had overseen the construction of his speedy ship the USS Constellation at Baltimore, the premier opium cutter-building center in the world. "Baltimore was like Miami in the 1980's and the Gardner shipyard where Fred Bailey had worked was like Don Aranow's Donzi factory in Miami near Harper Sibley's Ocean Reef Club," said Wigglesworth adding Charles Oscar Paulin's near-quote from Diplomatic Negotiations of American Naval Officers, 1778-1883 (p. 165)... "Truxton had skippered the Canton the first Philadelphia built ship to visit China. Philadelphia was home to another opium cutter-builder, Stephen Girard, who named his cutters for French free thinkers.....Helviticus, Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquie."
"Sam Swartwout, not surprisingly, had funded from New York the Texas Revolution and Texas Navy, opening up the ports of that region to settlement and expansion that given his world-wide connections in mercantilism provides additional references like camel droppings through the desert," said Wigglesworth.
"Wigglesworth has documented how Union General William Tecumseh Sherman was in partnership before, and judging from his letter of 1887 to John E. Tourtellette, after the war as well, with the worst soldier in the Confederacy, General Braxton Bragg. "For a big bamboozle to be believed an illusion requires bent perception. Contrary to what historian and Yale educated attorney, Edward Bonekemper, told the Smithsonian Institution's crowd of overwhelmingly white faces on March 29, 2016, Braxton Bragg was not a product of 'the Peter Principle times three.' Bragg was the proof of the intentional refraction of truth," said Wigglesworth.
Braxton's brother was the Attorney General for the Confederacy, Thomas Bragg, and it was in their Richmond White House that Elizabeth Van Lew and Mary Bowser spied, or couriered back and fourth information from Bragg to the Union. Sherman was clearly working to consolidate the Union Pacific's future rail head at San Francisco and Sacramento with George F. Bragg before the Davis, Pierce and Cushing "soi disant" Civil War broke out. Sherman went east to destroy the Southern rail head on the Atlantic between Atlanta and Savannah, home of the future Mrs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Eleanor. Sherman first hit the logical Mississippi rail-crossing site at Vicksburg before that, and returning to the railroad after Appomattox where the cowardly and thoroughly compromised Bragg pretended not to surrender with Robert E. Lee," said Harvey of Wigglesworth's research. "I cannot stress the importance of the fact too strongly that Sherman's Chief Engineer at the Sacramento railroad was the Chief Engineer of the Central Pacific that became the Union Pacific with Judah taking the lead in uniting the "Big Four" in their joint venture and pushing the U.S. government to fund the Omaha to San Francisco route, by-passing Davis' Savannah to San Diego route with the funding passing in Congress in 1862 in the middle of the Civil War fought over slavery vs. states rights," said Wigglesworth.
On June 29, 2013, Early American Auctioneers in Rancho Santa Fe, California put on auction the "appointment and elevation of Henry M. Judah," to "Captain in the Fourth Regiment of Infantry."
The description reads "Henry Moses Judah (1821-1866), was a career officer in the United States Army...." and that "one of his brothers, Theodore Judah, later was Chief Engineer of the Central Pacific Railroad and instrumental in constructing the first Transcontinental railroad.
Wigglesworth has noted that the letters of Anna Ferona Pierce Judah, Theodore's wife, are domiciled at the Hubert Howe Bancroft Collection at the University of California, Berkley. Hubert Howe Bancroft from the Howe and Bancroft families from Massachusetts' Brahmin/China trading class, wrote extensively of Oregon which include the Hawaii to Oregon travels of William Cushing, son of Caleb Cushing in The Works of Hubert Howe Bancroft: History of Oregon, 1886-1888 (The History Company Publishers: San Francisco, 1886, p. 467).
Theodore D. Judah's brother's appointment was signed by both Jefferson Davis and Franklin Pierce, which helps to explain the close relationship of Davis to Franklin Pierce as Pierce's Secretary of War and his letter to Pierce located in the Jefferson Davis Project at Rice University describing the "soi disant" war that Lincoln would inaugurate along with their relationship to their "brother", Caleb Cushing.
Harvey noted that Wigglesworth had made the connection between Ulysses S. Grant's alcoholic binder at Forts Donnelson and Henry where Braxton Bragg had thrown open the Confederacy's river system to Union gun boats under the USA's returned China gunboat commander, Andrew Hull Foote, and to the Vicksburg campaign in the winter of 1863 when William T. Sherman, Grenville Dodge the post-war chief engineer for the Union Pacific, and Grant were cutting the South's Mississippi River crossing site at Vicksburg. Alongside Grant in Vicksburg was Charles Anderson Dana, journalist and owner of one of the largest Chinese porcelain collections in the world.
"Dana was assigned to watched over Grant to make sure that he was not self-medicating to kill the psychological pain of the big bamboozle that Grant knew full well he was helping to direct and for which his good friend, John Aaron Rawlins, proved a valuable aide de camp as Grant's alcoholism counselor," said Wigglesworth. "On a more serious note, Charles Anderson Dana was a direct descendant of Boston Brahmin, Richard Dana, and therefore related directly to Richard Henry Dana whose Two Years Before the Mast used the opium cutter Frolic's captain, Edward Faucon, as 'the good captain' in Dana's epic novel.....the Frolic being the fastest opium cutter of its day and having wrecked near San Francisco in 1850 just as Jeff Davis was laying out the rail route along the old Santa Fe Trail and putting together first his camel caravan," Wigglesworth continued noting Charles and Richard Dana's family relationship to James Dana the nation's leading geologist and minerals expert from the 1833 class of Yale University and charter Bonesmans with Russell, Huntington and Taft.
Braxton Bragg would drop dead in the streets of Galveston only a few hundred feet from the Buffalo Soldier's offices of Lewis Morgan Smith and Giles Alexander Smith knowing full well that his larceny could not match that of his close friend and business partner William T. Sherman who mentions Bragg in his 1887 letter concerning Mrs. Morgan Lewis Smith and her two daughters. A letter from William T. Sherman domiciled at the University of Iowa tells of the attempt by the wife or daughters of Smith to perhaps blackmail Sherman after the war. When read in concert with the 1861 letter from Jefferson Davis to Franklin Pierce
citing his excitement that Lincoln's arrival would usher in a "soi disant" Civil War and that Davis had just met with their good "brother", Boston's opium king-pin Caleb Cushing, who negotiated the first U.S./China trade treaty. From Caleb Cushing's Attorney General's office, Archibald Roane who had been a midshipman in the Texas Navy when Texas was a Republic became head of the Confederate Produce Loan Office that used cotton and other products to run the Union blockage with cargo bound for Liverpool. Sold there the cotton funded Confederate Bonds that essentially underwrote the Civil War. According to Lowell P. Wigglesworth, Ulysses S. Grant became aware of Caleb Cushing's questionable backing of Roane when there was discovered in the Confederate archives a letter of introduction for Roane from Cushing to Jefferson Davis. In Grant's letters is the following:
A letter of March 20, 1861, from Cushing to Jefferson Davis in the C.S.A. archives cast doubts on Cushing's loyalty. "Mr. Archibald Roane, for the last six or seven years a clerk in the Attorney General's Office, desires from me a letter of introduction to you; and he deserves it.... He now resigns his present office, from sentiments of devotion to that which alone he can feel to be his country, namely, the Confederate States from one of which (Texas) he was appointed."
This letter from Cushing to Jefferson Davis dated March 20, 1861 was nine months to the day before Davis' letter to Franklin Pierce documenting his meeting with Caleb Cushing who had birthed the Civil War to end slavery? To promote state's rights? Hardly. Cushing's mercantile empire was not built upon either of these lofty premises. Jefferson Davis was surely flattered that such a powerful international figure as Caleb Cushing had taken such interest in Davis' rail route across the Great Southwest. The letter of recommendation from Cushing to Davis concerning Roane prevented Cushing from being confirmed as Supreme Court Chief Justice after the war, but the secret influence of Cushing on the real motive for the Civil War remained a secret. The script had been written and its cover brandished the abolition of slavery vs. states' rights debate. Its guts digested the Cushing, Davis, Pierce, Sherman, Bragg opium stores and the trade that informs the phony war on drugs to this day.
The plan unfolds and gives up its secret motive and treachery. That Davis' letter is domiciled where it had been for decades under the watchful eye of celebrated historian Frank Vandiver of Rice University and Texas A&M where the Baker Institute for Public Policy of Secretary of State James A. Baker whose ancestors were leading attorneys for the Union Pacific and where a short distance away the Bush Presidential Library is located is not surprisingly absent from serious discussion of the Civil War. Vandiver would become the Director of the Mosher Institute for Defense Studies funded by Edward Mosher whose steel company put 13 thousand tons of steel into the first nine floors of the World Trade Center while at the Mosher Institute Vandiver wrote the 2005 book, How Americans Go To War, which, of course, avoids Wigglesworth's piercing analysis of "why Americans go to war." Vandiver would walk daily to his Jefferson Davis Project beside the Robert Herring Building named for the husband of Joanne King Herring who would be played by Julia Roberts in the film Charlie Wilson's War. Herring....whose Houston Natural Gas morphed into Enron which raped California under the nose of Governor Gray Davis whose grandfather, William Rhodes Davis, who claimed kinship with both Jefferson Davis and Cecil Rhodes, would become the subject of the book Mystery Man: William Rhodes Davis:Nazi Agent of Influence by Dale Harrington. Rhodes would be moving Texas oil to Hitler's Germany from a region across which Jeff Davis' and Smith brothers' camels had earlier traversed the landscape north of McAllen, Texas where Joseph P. Kennedy, U.S. Ambassador to Britain who had expressed his support of Hitler, was drilling his Mokeen Co. oil wells across the road from Jason Chilton Matthews' hacienda, Quintana Mazatlan. Matthews doesn't mention any of this in his American Mercury Magazine nor tell us why the British were so exuberant that T.E. Lawrence with whom Matthews rode were so glad to see the Ottoman Turks fall from power. Suddenly, why Hillary Clinton's 2015 and 2016 Presidential election campaigning with former President Bill Clinton importing the memory of Franklin Pierce into the national conversation is in clearer focus with one author working to fillet Clinton's unusual reference.
Furthermore, Wigglesworth has written...."a letter as important as one from Jeff Davis to Franklin Pierce referencing his meeting with Caleb Cushing would be well thought out by Davis. The words carefully chosen. In this case, let us look at the French words "soi" and "disant". Etymologically these French terms in tandem were used in English from 1752. John Ruskin used the term in his works in 1860, but its meaning is unmistakable. It means "self proclaimed", "self styled", "would be", "calling oneself thus", "self-dubbed", "trumped up" or simply "pretended". Davis appropriates it in describing a "soi disant" democratic administration responsible for the Civil War that Lincoln's Republicans could not avoid and could blame on Davis' and Cushing's close friend Franklin Pierce...the "worst President in U.S. history" which Bill Clinton strangely argued in 2015 and 2016....he wasn't. Given all of the evidence Davis, Cushing and Pierce were aware that there was a bamboozled production in the making. There was nothing "pretended" about a Civil War that soldiers fought and died for on whatever grounds they envisioned was their cause. "Here we have the titanium tip of the spike through the dark heart of the real motive for the U.S. Civil War as envisioned by an unholy triad.....Davis, Pierce and Cushing and administered by their fallen arch angels, William Tecumseh Sherman and Braxton Bragg. There is no other way of explaining it," said Wigglesworth.
"Camels crossing the Great Southwest, as it turns out, is the key to understanding our own history and just why we are today in the situation we are in. In the Alta, California article on 'Hi Jolly', who was also known as 'Phillip Teadroe', we are told how he had come to the U.S. before the Civil War on Admiral David Dixon Porter's ship from Smyrna, the Supply. Not ironically, Admiral David Dixon Porter was waiting at Vickburg on the Mississippi River to assist William T. Sherman in sacking the future rail crossing site on this high ground north of the lowland Mississippi Delta. Porter's foster son, David Farragut, had failed to sack Vickburg by river and so blockaded New Orleans which Farragut captured in April, 1862 according to Terry L. Jones' Historical Dictionary of the Civil War (2002, p. 474) and many other sources that fail to backtrack Farragut's relationship to Porter and the camels from Smyrna. From Vicksburgh Sherman moved on to Atlanta to provide the additional evidence of his motivation for ending the war by twisting the rails into unusable serpentine pretzels, burning the ties, while leaving the slaves just freed, the future market for Golden Crescent imports like the Chinese poor had been, a guaranteed revenue stream for the white poppy drool of Cushing's cutters, to fend for themselves. Many a misinformed historian saw Sherman's apparent hard-heartedness as a sign of his desire to bring the vicious war to a quicker end. Well, yea, but so does a bet-holder whose doped horse in currently in the lead and nearing the finish line. A picture is worth a thousand or more words and so is the 1864 photo of 'Captain Camel Collector' David Dixon Porter, then Rear Admiral, on the deck of the USS Malvern with his staff that included 'Lincoln's Commando' William B. Cushing, the 'First Navy Seal' whom most historians deny was part of the New England Cushing China Traders, but who married into the Forbes branch of the Boston Brahmin class (Katherine Louise Forbes, July 1, 1867). The 1864 photo of Cushing with Porter and his men is an amazing image of the ship's staff standing around the Rear Admiral, but with some looking in apparent deference to the disengaged and eagle-eyed Cushing also known as 'Sea Eagle' who also appears to be fixated on the officer opposite him on the far right who appears disgusted with the whole photo session or more. Suddenly you can begin to understand just why the head of JSOC, the Joint Special Operations Command, featured in Jeremy Scahill's Dirty Wars and leader of Seal Team Six, Ret. USN Admiral William McRaven, is the Chancellor of the University of Texas, the state through which the camel caravan to the Pacific began," said Wigglesworth. "But more importantly, why the Union plopped the Marine base at San Diego to tell the South....'forget about it!'", Wigglesworth added.
Born in San Diego was Draper Kauffman, founder of the modern SEALs if you discount the longer historical connection linking them to William B. Cushing. Kauffman's story is too long to go into great detail here, but suffice it to say that his work at Fort Pierce, Florida where the first SEALs were trained helps to bifurcate SEAL history that connects them to Caleb Cushing's influences in their long legacy of service to their country, but with the echo of the Cushing's China Trade ringing in the background. This helps to explain just how and why the U.S. Navy has the most powerful intelligence program in the U.S. military and why SEALs operate in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan when they are historically called "Frogmen". Kauffman's father was Vice-Admiral James L. Kauffman and Draper was educated at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., the home to an astounding list of personalities: Dean Acheson's son David, Joshua Bolten former White House Chief of Staff, Neil Bush brother of GWB and JEB and Ted Cruz's 2016 Presidential campaign's chief financial officer and formerly a director of Silverado Savings & Loan, Eli Whitney Debevoise II the Executive Director of the World Bank, Harold Ford, Jr., Al Gore, Donald E. Graham former chairman of the Washington Post, King Hussein of Jordan, Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, Henry Cabot Lodge, John D. Rockefeller V, Kermit Roosevelt who together with the father of General Norman Schwarzkopf led the 1953 coup in Iran that placed the Shah in power and Thomas Kean, head of the 911 Commission that withheld the 28 pages of information about Saudi influence and cooperation on the 911 tragedy.
Criticism that the U.S.N. SEAL headquarters in San Diego were purposely built in the shape of a Nazi swastika is legitimated by the fact that Elizabeth Kauffman Bush was the goddaughter of the former Duchess of Windsor who met her husband, the Duke of Windsor, at the Coronado Hotel in San Diego. Elizabeth Kauffman Bush was the daughter-in-law of Prescott Bush, therefore the sister-in-law of George Herbert Walker Bush. Suddenly the claim that the 1947 U.S. intelligence apparatus that was built by Alan Dulles import of 350 former German Nazi's that created the modern CIA is totally believable. So is O. John Rogge's claim that the Nazi penetration into American life was much deeper than simply the "Business Plotters" that Smedley Butler resisted. The Windsors were, of course, the German Saxe-Coburg-Gothas and Churchill had exiled the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to the Bahamas for the duration of WWII, but their talons had penetrated the core of American life.
Fort Pierce, Florida was named for Benjamin Pierce the brother of Franklin Pierce and ancestor of Barbara Pierce Bush, to whom in 2015 and 2016 former President William Jefferson Clinton made a special reference relative to Franklin Pierce's place in the history of the Civil War in a speech at his alma mater, Georgetown University, and in his first speech in support of his wife's Presidential candidacy in January 2016. The sister of Draper Kauffman was the wife of Seldon Prescott Bush, Sr., the brother George Herbert Walker Bush, Elizabeth Kauffman Bush, who wrote the book America's First Frogman: The Draper Kaufman Story.
Donald L. Barnhart, Jr. in his article "Admiral Porter's Iron-clad Hoax During the American Civil War" in America's Civil War Magazine misses the bigger hoax: Our Civil War was a drug deal gone bad for Davis and Bragg. Col. Theodore 'Ted' Westhusing and Pat Tillman.....hell, any soldier who reads.....would see the truth of it. Barnhart said......Porter’s vessels operated above Vicksburg, held at bay by the city’s formidable batteries. The Mississippi Squadron consisted of ‘City Class’ ironclads financed by wealthy steamboat salvager James Eads, mortar schooners, transports and the steamboat rams commanded by Colonel Alfred Ellet. More than 50 vessels would eventually join Porter’s command, including his sumptuous flagship, Black Hawk. Porter’s flagship included such amenities as a gourmet kitchen and a cow for fresh milk. Impressed with Black Hawk‘s bill of fare, Union Maj. Gens. Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman would often leave their billets to dine with the admiral," said Wigglesworth noting that Sherman's 1887 letter denigrates Grant whose self-medication was understandable for a soul sullied by the unspoken motive's dark hearted hypocrisy and thousands of U.S. brethren bobbing in the bloody wake of an unnecessary Civil War.
"Now, during the Civil War the USN Black Hawk had two Commanders. One was David Dixon Porter and the other was Union Rear Admiral, Samuel Phillips Lee, Robert E. Lee's cousin who married the daughter of Francis P. Blair. His Washington D.C. home became known as Blair House and his ancestor, Harper Sibley, built the Ocean Reef Club in Miami, about which the Houston Post reporter and author of The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, Peter Brewton, wrote much in reference to Iran-Contra drug and weapon smuggling through the Ocean Reef Club and Harper Sibley's partner, Carl Lindner. Harper's son is Montgomery Blair Sibley, lawyer for the D.C. Madame, Deborah Jean Palfrey. Can't make this stuff up. You might as well have a replica of the Black Hawk docked down in Key Largo!" said Wigglesworth.
The reason why "Hi Jolly" the Greek/Syrian camel trainer was brought to the U.S. for Jeff Davis' camel caravan by Admiral David Dixon Porter was because David Sassoon's Sephardic Jewish import/exporters had lost their grip on the business in the late 18th Century and the Ottomans were gathering it in until....thank you T.E. Lawrence of Arabia.... who later broke their grip in the early 20th Century. Lawrence had reportedly been approached, as had Smedley Butler in the U.S., to lead a Fascist coup in Britain in the 1930's, but like Butler, refused.
"Yes," said Wigglesworth...."M. Keinholz said it succinctly in Opium Traders and Their World: Volume I....so Davis and Porter brought back 'Hi Jolly' the lynch-pin to understanding this elaborate cluster fucking of the American people....an elaborate planned copulative assembly...a sham....a hoax....all to build on the racket of war and the opioids needed to deaden the pain of its grinding, limb wrenching racketeering.....as all the while.....the poppy plant could have been growing in every garden of the world. At least our dying soldiers North or South....if they were lucky enough to get some.....could be thankful that the more potent opioids from Smyrna and the Ottomans was being brought to the U.S. and not the weaker shit from Bombay, but good golly, Holly Jolly.....what an absolute....as Smedley Darlington Butler so rightly said.... 'racket'....well, war is STILL A RACKET!" said Wigglesworth noting that the U.S. rejection of JEB Bush showed that it was finally sinking in. Or was it? Would not, could not people see the truth of it who looked at Watts or Harlem or St. Louis or Vermont where abuse of prescription opioids cannot possibly be the whole story and where the endless war on drugs accompanies the endless war on terror? William Tecumseh Sherman's skull and bones could not be buried in Arlington National since it was Robert E. Lee's estate.... not in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati since it was the final resting place of 41 other Civil War Generals, many Union Generals alongside their champion, Yale Bonesman, Alphonso Taft, of Caleb Cushing and William Huntington Russell's inner circle. "No, Sherman would be buried in St. Louis and who would be buried there alongside him? Dred Scott! Poor Dred Scott, used in death to cover over Sherman's actions at Ebenezer Creek and the bigger bamboozle that was taking shape along the funky camel route and new-tech Union Pacific rails. No wonder Donald Rumsfeld purchased like a trophy bride the Misery Plantation where Frederick Douglass was openly 'renditioned' before being sent back South and before 'Fred Bailey', Frederick Douglass, moved to the North to New Bedford a stones throw from the hometown of John Perkins Cushing and Caleb Cushing," said Wigglesworth.
The China traders' connection to the slave trade was multifaceted. "Fred Bailey, AKA Frederick Douglass had, according to archeologist Thomas Layton's 1999 book from Stanford University Press, Voyage of the Frolic: New England Merchants and Opium Trade, worked in Baltimore's Gardner shipyard laying the hulls of the New England China trader's fastest clippers, while Baltimore also provided the first war-fueling Fugitive Slave Law test case of James Hamlet who worked at the Brown's Merchant shot tower making bullets! The cross-purposes and war-profiteering potential for 'freedom-fighting' was huge!" said Wigglesworth. Wigglesworth is especially concerned about Thomas Layton's book on The Frolic because Dr. Layton's father had worked for the U.S. military in creating chemical weapons a story carried in the Chicago Tribune in 1978. Dr. Layton's mother, sister Deborah Layton and brother joined the Peoples' Temple cult and Larry Layton, Dr. Layton's brother, was the only person convicted in the Jonestown, Guyana, People's Temple Cult massacre serving over twenty years in prison for his part in the event. Deborah Layton was Jim Jone's assistant and mistress. Representative Leo Ryan and his Congressional assistant, Joseph Holsinger, believed the entire Jonestown experiment was a CIA MK-Ultra mind control experiment, again linking the drugs and personality altering agents in the dark elements of America's drug history. "Leo Ryan had been the co-sponsor of the Hughes-Ryan Act of 1974 that required a US President to disclose covert US activities in foreign countries....not popular among the MK-Ultra crowd. Thomas Layton may well have been discovering that his interest in archeology and anthropology was coming full circle and reconnecting to elements of his past that he may not have known until Frolic, or now that it has been pointed out," said Wigglesworth adding, "....but the interest of Fielding McGehee, III and Tom Kinsolving, son of Rev. Lester Kinsolving, a lobbyist for South Africa during Apartheid, in the ongoing Jonestown debate given Lester Kinsolving's early reporting on this strange evolution of the Jonestown debacle and given the political protection given to Jim Jones in San Francisco and especially in Mendocino County so close to Fort Bragg, California and not far from the epicenter of Tom Layton's work with the opium cutter Frolic and I'd want to know if Fielding McGehee is in any way related to Houston, Texas' Rev. J. Pittman McGehee, Anglican priest like Lester Kinsolving who was also a speech writer for George H.W. Bush. Houston is where Jonestown's 'Dr. Mengele, Jr.', Danny Schacht, had lived with his left-wing family and it was also where Thyssen Oil shared the same building address with ex-President GHWB at 10000 Memorial Drive. When it comes to the racket of war, left and right ideologies are incidental so long as polarities serve to protect the power elites' prominence. For them peace is unprofitable and stability is subversive," said Wigglesworth noting that the Anglican University of the South in Tennessee from which a number of Bush cronies had graduated had worked overtime to appropriated the memory of Nathan Bedford Forrest who had actually suspected the railroad connection of Bragg to the North very early on.
"Nate Bedford Forrest was the slaver who knew he was himself being enslaved," said Wigglesworth, "but he failed to morph into Spartacus. General Patrick Cleburne came closer than any of the Southern Generals by recommending expanding the South's army to include blacks, but he was vehemently opposed by Vice-President Alexander Stephens who stood behind his 'Cornerstone Speech' which, if the South accepted Cleburnes' proposal would have been logical, but not in protecting a predetermined plan to open up the opium trade of the Middle East through a route controlled by those in the best position to exploit it....the China traders!" said Wigglesworth adding...."Patrick Cleburn's proposal to enlist and free the slaves who were willing to fight for the South was signed by fourteen officers, one being a Confederate General who had been in Sacramento, California on the same day that his cousin, Texas Ranger Ben McCulloch, had been elected sheriff of Sacramento.....McCulloch's deputy sheriff, Daniel C. Govan. Both men were in a position to understand the economic and political motives behind the rush to the Pacific, but Davis and Bragg also vehemently opposed the idea. Why? Because they had already hedged their bets! I tell you Kung Sa and Bo Gritz would find this lesson from history as shinny accurate as Richard Armitage's bald head."
Wigglesworth believes that it's not enough to dismiss California for its reputation as the "land of flakes and nuts". "Sherman was a Bohemian in every way, but so was Bragg for whom a California Fort was named and both cremated the Southern power elites' rail ambition to the Orient, an ambition unknown to the vast majority of those fighting and dying. The flakes and nuts are everywhere in every century. Consider Californian Deborah Layton, Thomas Layton's sister, who retold her story to CNN in 1998. Her mother, brother Larry and Deborah adored Rev. Jim Jones who had become the head of the San Francisco Housing Authority in the 1970's. Never, ever forget the Tuskegee Experiment or Pruitt-Igoe in St. Louis, the housing project built by Minoru Yamasaki who built the World Trade Center. Pruitt-Igoe..... where our government conducted a radiation experiment on unwitting residents and citizens of St. Louis," said Wigglesworth.
"I have made every effort to communicate with Dr. Thomas Layton, Professor Emeritus at San Jose State University's anthropology department and author or Voyage of the Frolic to encourage his response to my thesis, but so far my pleas for his openness and transparency in connecting the camels droppings to the wreck of the opium cutter, Frolic, have gone unanswered," said Wigglesworth. "Now the resident expert on Frolic at the Cabrillo Point Light House, a California State Park, not far from Fort Bragg, Layton works closely with a board that includes former IBM executives and U.S. Coast Guard volunteers at Fort Bragg. William Tecumseh Sherman was the first President of the Sacramento Valley Railroad working with George F. Bragg in Sacramento and San Francisco," said Wigglesworth. "There had to be real concern that the South would reach the Pacific first. On the same day in November, 1850 two prominent Texas Rangers were elected sheriffs....John Coffee 'Jack' Hays in San Francisco and Ben McCulloch in Sacramento. These celebrated pedestrian, boot and spurs quick-draw peace officers may have been motivated to go west by the discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill in 1849, but Jefferson Davis who was surveying the rail route across the Southwest at the time had a much broader view of the enormous stakes involved with the '49's being, but a footnote to history in comparison. With Thomas Layton's brother serving time for the events at Jonestown in 1978, his scholarship may seem compromised in that it puts Frederick Douglass squarely in the opium-based China Trade in a way that some may claim the Jonestown residents were somehow morally deficient, but so was Jeff Davis, both of whom were invited to speak at Boston's Faneuil Hall....for and against slavery. It should have been for or against chains of steel or chains of poppy drool. Henry Van Ness Boynton, Smedley Darlington Butler, Theodore 'Ted' Westhusing or Pat Tillman would have recognized this ancient ploy. The fight promoter picks the two fighters, but controls the two corners and the entire venue to their own profit. Caleb Cushing who had hosted both Douglass and Davis in Boston would have brokered Cain and Abel's warring in another era," said Wigglesworth.
The Confederacy had used the Mexican port of Bagdad, Mexico across from Brownsville and east of Matamoros.....which translates in Spanish "death To Moors" or "kill the Moors" after a Mexican soldier whose ancestor fought with El Cid in Spain. The wild and raucous Bagdad, Mexico...dropped the "h" in Baghdad, Iraq, but Baghdad and Basra, Iraq were the original Golden Crescent opium shipping points for David Sassoon's Turkish, Iranian, Iraqi, Pakistani and Afghanistani poppy fortunes before Smyrna and Bombay, now Mumbai. The poppy plant could have been taken to the highlands of the U.S.A. for cultivation. The poppy plant is ubiquitous, but that would not have served the growing pharmaceutical industry of which Union Army artillery commander Eli Lilly was a leading investor. Meanwhile, in New England the physician Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. coined the word 'anesthetics' while Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. helped the U.S. Supreme Court fashion U.S. drug policy. Within another generation the son of Robert E. Lee's surgeon, Bernard Baruch, was helping to keep the world's artillery stoked with sulfur-laden gun powder. Those who passed the legislation to prohibit also profited. It was a regular Tammany Hall on a grand scale promulgating the Catch-22 of our brave new world....brave for the good soldiers and civilians who faced the onslaught without understanding why. From India the Indians who had worked for Sassoon and the British East India Company which the U.S.A. was eclipsing in the China trade, had built transshipping points in Vietnam....way stations on the way up the Yangtze River," said Wigglesworth noting that Admiral Andrew Hull Foote had returned from the rivers of China to dismantle the South's river fortifications as Braxton Bragg oversaw one Southern capitulation after another. "When Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died near El Paso along the camel caravan trail to San Diego, home to Jimmy and Lee Chagra....Chagra....not Mexican drugs and weapon dealers, but Lebanese who changed their name to an incomprehensible and untraceable amalgam, I said 'aha!'," said Wigglesworth noting that El Paso had been the home of Judge William Sessions who had, up until the murder of Federal Judge John Holland Wood in San Antonio by Woody Harrelson's father acting for the Chagra brothers, sat on the bench there, but had ascended to Wood's San Antonio bench before being appointed by GHWB as Director of the FBI.
"It was U.S. Merchant Marines like author and novelist Richard McKenna who told us a year before the Vietnam War what was really going on there. McKenna wrote about it in his novel The Sand Pebbles in 1962 which became the Robert Wise film The Sand Pebbles starring Steve McQueen in 1966," said Wigglesworth adding, "too bad McKenna didn't live past 51 so he could tell us not in a novel, but a true history, or true crime story."
While the attempt to kill the camel story is clear, what is clearer is that the story remained very much alive. Through the bards and troubadours of the passing years one, Randy Sparks, wrote of Hi Jolly, The Camel Driver which was picked up by a number of folk groups. It did not, however, make the now obvious connections between the Civil War and the nation's, or more accurately, the nation's elites', drug policy and the accompanying war on drugs that is as manufactured as the global war on terror.
Randy Sparks was not the only song writer to remember Hi Jolly, or at least the real motive for the push across the Great Southwest.
Southern singer songwriter, John William Williams, some speculate was a close friend of Nathan Bedford Forrest and known by him as “Savannah Slim” and that Williams wrote the bluegrass southern ballad that has some historians up in rhetorical arms. "There was no John William Willliams who was friend of Nate Forrest," said Southern music historian Ariel Coda Cantata.
Lowell P. Wigglesworth has claimed that William's 1872 lyrics are accurate and he called the lyrics "beguiling" like a "cold, hard slap across your face at four in the morning."
The great Nate Forrest said,
"I'm gonna kill you Braxton Bragg,
For runnin' with Will Sherman
The old railroad barons' nag."
It ain't the life I've chosen.
It's chosen for us all.
In the land that's East of Eden
On the dark side of the Fall.
It's been reported that Forrest liked the song, but that a year later in 1873 when war between the U.S. and Spain threatened, Forrest wrote a letter to Sherman offering to aide the U.S. if war ensued. "On the dark side of the fall everything seems negotiable," said Wigglesworth.
Jefferson Davis' capture after the war provides an additional window on the Confederacy's longing for the China Trade with William Tecumseh Walthall writing an authoritative assessment setting straight the rumor that the Confederacy's CSS Shenandoah was reportedly going to attempt to pick up the Confederate leader off the coast of Florida and sail him to a foreign port. The Shenandoah had been built in Liverpool for the China Trade and W.T. Walthall shared that the ship was in the Northern Pacific or Indian Ocean at the time and could not possibly have been off the Florida coast. The Confederacy's chief agent in Liverpool, England was James Dunwoody Bulloch. Bulloch’s half-sister was Martha Bulloch the mother of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and grandmother of FDR's wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, from Savannah, Georgia the Atlantic port connecting Davis' planned railroad from the Atlantic to the Pacific at San Diego when the camel caravans would become obsolete.
William Tecumseh Walthall's ancestors in England were heavily employed by the Mercer Company that became the British East Indian Company. Not only was Liverpool a major base of operation for Confederate shipping, it was also a major port of operation for the Mercer Company and the British East India Company.
After the Civil War Jefferson Davis saw Savannah settled by William Washington Gordon, II, Generals Hardee and Mercer, Hugh Weedon Mercer, the grandson of the assistant surgeon for Bonnie Prince Charlie's army in England, also named Hugh Mercer, who immigrated to America, fought in the Revolution and for whom Mercersburg, Pennsylvania was named. The forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were hardly concerned about representative government in England as were the majority of the American colonists who fought against King George in the Revolution. John Ewell Brown Stuart's absence from Gettysburg and his obvious identification with Prince Ruppert's dress and riding style cannot go overlooked and wasn't by Winsip Custer's article "Cain Cushing and Abe Brown". JEB Stuart, like Jeff Davis, had traveled the West and seen much of the route across which the camels and then the rails would run to the Pacific.
Hugh Mercer, Hugh Weedon Mercer's grandfather, fought gallantly in the Revolution, but his concerns were like so many others of the Civil War. They were as mixed as that of Jeff Davis, Alexander Stephens, Braxton Bragg and William Tecumseh Sherman's. Winsip Custer's 2012 article also lays out the hidden cross-purposes of Americans North and South and adds to an understanding of the camel trek across the Great Southwest.
Wigglesworth is especially troubled by the lack of intellectual honesty within the academic community relative to Civil War history. "Yea, well when Edward H. Bonekemper spoke at the Smithsonian Institute in March 2016 to a packed house of anglo admirers or a congregation of Africans in remarkably well-applied whiteface I couldn't help but laugh. I had just read a book by Richard Tjader who graduated like Bonekemper and Richard Benvenisti, that sawed-off stonewalling attorney from the 911 Commission who I suspect squelched the open and honest evaluation of one of the most brutal....well, not by Civil War standards......but, a tragedy none-the-less. So I did a little metrics grinding to make my point using the indisputable facts from Tadjer's own pin-head....I mean, pen," said Wigglesworth.
"The implications of not being aware of our own history is that we are sheeple and not people," said Wigglesworth.
"With a history that we do not understand and have never really explored we cannot see the connections to drug policy and the U.S. military's marriage to the opioids that motivated our movement westward toward the Middle East's poppies about which I really believe Herman Melville was providing a prophecy in his novel Moby Dick. By the later half of the 20th Century writers like Cormac McCarthy were informing us that the god of war, Kratos, had won the battle in Blood Meridian, No Country for Old Men and other novels that were canonized by Yale's Dumbledore on the American literary canon, Harold Bloom. Big Pharma companies like Tyco and Malinkrodt Incorporated had the corner on the legal opioid distribution, but so did the entire Military Industrial Complex when you think about it. That was not only my message, but the same message from Alexander DeLarge's article 'Dan Rather's Clockwork Orange'," said Wigglesworth. "A clockwork orange? Take Orange County, Florida where in 2015 they set a new record for a county of just over one million people who attracted over sixty-two million visitors. They also had in 2015 eighty-four deaths by heroin overdoses. That was a six hundred percent increase over the previous year. Let me say that again.....a six-hundred percent increase. The camel caravan to San Diego will, I believe, be an eye-opening event for people who have had their heads stuck in the sand for way too long," said Wiggleworth who sees nearly all of the Federal Government's drug interdiction and drug addition policies and programs as "totally compromised yesterday, today and probably tomorrow. The poppy-greed is just too tempting and the cheese too cheesy and protected by legal prohibitions put in place by a system that historically profited the very people who put in place those legal restrictions, but who also know the simplest, most guarded and clandestined ways around them. They push the legal supply to prime the illegal supply all the while controlling both supplies. It's a racket like war where the fight promoters control both corners. Therefore, you will not hear a Representative Glenn Grothman or Rep. Buddy Carter or Rep. Mark DeSaulnier or Rep. Jody Hice, or Rep. Matt Cartwright or Rep. Tim Walberg or Rep. John Mica much less Michael Botticelli or the DEA's Louis Milione suggesting that the current heroin epidemic is, as investigative journalists like Gary Webb proved with the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980's in the Iran-Contra scandal, a government policy and undeclared tax on its citizenry that skirts the national coffers and goes directly into the pockets of the bamboozlers."

"Camels to San Diego" ad campaign. |

Jefferson Davis, William W. Gordon, Alexander
Stephens and others had begun the push of
the Georgia Central Railroad west well
before the Civil War.

An 1887 letter of William Tecumseh Sherman indicates that he was being targeted by Union Army hero, journalist and Congressional Medal of Honor winner, Henry Van Ness Boynton, mentioning also the daughters of Morgan Lewis Smith and his widow's claim that something was owed her relative to the U.S. Postal Service, perhaps like Elizabeth Van Lew, the Union spy in Richmond who received a U.S. Postal Service "star route." Amazingly, Sherman references Confederate General Braxton Bragg who was, in Sherman's mind, to have already handled widow Morgan's claim long after the war!" said Wigglesworth, but equally informative of Sherman's role is his reference to Corkhill. Who was Corkhill? Ah.....that's important not to miss his significant connection to the camel caravan, but from his catbird seat in Washington. He was editor of the Washington Chronicle and friend of the founder of the Washington Post, Stilson Hutchins," said Wigglesworth.

"Both Giles A. and Morgan L. Smith had been at Fort Donelson where Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest first began to suspect that General Braxton Bragg was not what he appeared. Morgan joined Sherman at Vicksburg and both Smith brothers joined Sherman for the march from Atlanta to Savannah....but taking over the camels in Texas along with the Buffalo Soldiers in Texas after Appomattox from Galveston where Bragg died? Wigglesworth had made a clear and convincing argument that "our histories of the Civil War are like colanders of mixed, tossed leafy word salad topped with a fishy pate' neatly covered by either Old Glory or Stars and Bars to keep the swarming flies at a distance."

The "Supply" was the ship on which then Lieutenant David D. Porter brought camels from Smyrna to Texas in 1857. |
William’s song Dark Side of the Fall has some historians saying that he is a revisionist historian-music-meister. Wigglesworth has called it "foot-stomping truth."
DARK SIDE OF THE FALL
by John William Williams
Fort Donelson and Henry,
A turnkey job well done.
By Buckner, Bragg and others,
As doors wide open flung.
A turnkey job well done.
By Buckner, Bragg and others,
As doors wide open flung.
And in poured Irish brothers,
Potato farmers' sons,
All lookin' for a future,
Through canons, swords and guns.
Potato farmers' sons,
All lookin' for a future,
Through canons, swords and guns.
The great Nate Forrest said,
"I'm gonna kill you Braxton Bragg,
For runnin' with Will Sherman
The old railroad barons' nag."
It ain't the life I've chosen.
It's chosen for us all.
In the land that's East of Eden
On the dark side of the Fall.
Nate left the KK kickers.
Boot lickers of the lie.
Said "ride the rails to China,
Sell them pie in the sky."
Boot lickers of the lie.
Said "ride the rails to China,
Sell them pie in the sky."
Go sail the Cushing cutters.
They'll chase the Great White Whale.
Til' across the plains are ride'n
Four men on horses pale.
They'll chase the Great White Whale.
Til' across the plains are ride'n
Four men on horses pale.
It ain't the life I've chosen.
It's chosen for us all.
In the land that's East of Eden
On the dark side of the Fall.
It's chosen for us all.
In the land that's East of Eden
On the dark side of the Fall.
The day will come I'm believing.
When it all will be real plain.
That the house we've been dividin'
Starts circle'n its drain.
When it all will be real plain.
That the house we've been dividin'
Starts circle'n its drain.
And seeds that we've been sewin'
Will start to choke us all.
In the land that's East of Eden.
On the dark side of the Fall.
Will start to choke us all.
In the land that's East of Eden.
On the dark side of the Fall.
