FURY:   AN ANTI-WAR FILM?

    The 2014 film, Fury, starring actor Brad Pitt who was accompanied at the Washington premier by General Colin Powell, purveyor of the “yellow cake uranium bamboozle”  and whose encouragement of Iraq War (part II) that along with the Afghanistan war has created the longest war in U.S. history, has been declared a powerful anti-war film, but is it?  Powell has not often commented on the return of troops to capture and kill Saddam Hussein who had been supported in war against Iran  (September 1980-August 1988) by the U.S. at the same time the U.S. traded weapons with Iran to help secretly underwrite the Contras in Central America.  Neither has Colin Powell mentioned the irony of his leadership that proclaimed that we should during the first Gulf War find the Iraqi viper and cut off its head or of the green light given to Saddam Hussein in 1990 by U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, whose tell-tale memo was released by WikiLeaks and clearly articulated on the floor of Congress by Congressman Ron Paul.  The failure to roll into Baghdad during the first Iraq war and to replace the government left the door open for GWB to reinitiate protracted war in the Middle East that coincides with General Wesley Clark's assertion that the Republican neo-cons were leading a "policy coup" to ferment war in the oil rich region.

     A close analysis of the supporters of the Brad Pitt's film, Fury,  including the flood of photographers who captured the premier for the Department of Defense would indicate that the film is hardly anti-war.

     Sylvia Darlington Butler of the Sherman-Abrams Institute claims that “this is one of the most blatantly pro-war films in U.S. history and it normalizes battle field anomalies and exceptions-to-the-rule of engagement like the Geneva Conventions.  When Brad Pitt takes a rookie soldier whose failure to kill quickly is resolved by shooting an unarmed prisoner of war in the back to steel his soldier’s heart for war, my stomach turned,” said Butler, a relative of two-time Congressional Medal of Honor winner Smedley Darlington Butler.

      Ms. Butler has spent her life looking into just how the military of nations builds consent for war.  “Take the premier of the film, Fury, at the Newseum in Rosslyn a suburb of Washington, D.C..    Rosslyn sounds so much like Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, home of the famous and historic Knights Templars, that the similarity should not be lost on Frank Gannett’s Freedom Forum’s move from Alexandria, Virginia to Pennsylvania Avenue under the new name Newseum.   Board member of the Newseum at the time of its move in 2000 was Tim Russert who shortly after his attack on the Bush and Kerry membership in Yale’s secretive Skull & Bones fraternity and questioning of Colin Powell on the yellow cake issue which Powell had to admit was a mistake,  died of a massive heart attack on June 13, 2008.  Russert claimed that the Newseum would leave an indelible mark on American culture from its new more visible location.  Indeed it has. 

      While little is said of the battle that raged between media moguls Frank Gannett and William Randolph Hearst, the Freedom Forum maintains that it is a voice for the First Amendment in America, but is it?   When the San Jose Mercury New’s Gary Webb wrote Dark Alliance:  The CIA, the Contras and the Crack Cocaine Explosion, neither the Gannett, Hearst or Knight-Ridder organizations backed up his well documented claims.   
 

     After his suicide by two shots to the head on December 10, 2004 shortly after CBS’s Mary Mapes and Dan Rather botched the report of the George Walker Bush Texas Air National Guard memos that opened the door to a narrow Bush win over John Kerry (50.7 to 48.3% of the total vote) those memos typed by Mrs. Marion Carr Knox, discredited as she was by the Associated Press’ Louis Boccardi who received the  Freedom Forum/Newseum’s highest journalistic award, and one must really wonder.  "The Knox story was available in 2000 when the margin of the Gore/Bush election was even slimmer.  So why wasn't it exposed then?  Mapes knew of it in 1999!  Boccardi and Bush lawyer, Dick Thornburgh, obviously threatened Marion Carr Knox after the Mapes/Rather interview in 2004, but why the silence in 2000? Knox's son, Patrick Carr, confirmed that his mother was, contrary to the Thornburgh and Boccardi finagling, being quite honest, " said Butler, who believes that Mapes' and Rather's winning a Peabody Award for their "breaking" the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in 2004 when it was Amnesty International that broke the story in 2003 while Rather was an owner with Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld of a 9,000 acre private ranch in Las Vegas, Nevada, proved problematic for the claim of unbiased journalism.   "It shows a disgusting, incestuous, putrid, mutual-pud-pounding relationship between a reporter and an American war criminal.  It's like claiming that there is separation of church and state when the head of the U.S. Army's psychological warfare in the 1980's was Col. Michael Aquino, a disciple of Anton LaVey head of the Worldwide Church of Satan and who was investigated for a pedophilia case at San Francisco's Presidio Army base," said Butler.  "The modern soldier's arsenal of weapons includes the murder of civilians as a means of killing the soldiers' will to fight. That made the Confederate General William Tecumseh Sherman the first truly modern, albeit, barbaric soldier whose methods were incorporated into World War II carpet bombing recommended by Robert Lovett, Yale Bonesman and Assistant Secretary of War during World War II.  The evolution of an Abu Ghraib on top of the Col. Michael Aquino revelation is quite understandable," said Butler.  "This is why civilians should act swiftly and decisively to rid their culture of criminal despots to insure that peace prevails.   Had Deone Lucas served Hitler a poison stuffed squab in Hamburg in the 1930's Dietrick Bonhoeffer and the Scholls would have survived the 1940's," said Butler.  "Not to mention the six million Jews the majority of whom Edwin Black's book, The Transfer Agreement, shows were sold down the river for the future of some at the expense of the rest and a program that was as American-made by U.S. fascists as it was by the German's....as Black has meticulously laid out in War Against the Weak."

     When one realizes that the upcoming film by Robert Redford and James Vanderbilt, Truth, based on Mary Mapes book, Truth and Duty, about the 2004 Dan Rather story about GWB's National Guard performance, it is likely to be as problematic as the film Fury according to Butler.   "We see here a pattern that quickly becomes obvious.   The First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University is supported by the Freedom Forum and the Newseum, but is it really concerned about preserving what Thomas Jefferson said….'Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press and that cannot be limited without being lost,'" asked Butler. 
     "Just because James Vanderbilt is directing the Mapes and Rather story, Truth, and because the Newseum supports the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University does not insure that there's not significant slight-of-hand involved in the upcoming media event.  You have to remember that Cornelius Vanderbilt and William Walker fought each other over a Central American canal from the Pacific to the Atlantic that would insure the flow of goods from the Middle East to the Far East to Europe and the world and that included the game-breaking opioids from Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and India where the British's chief opium supplier, David Sassoon, had cornered the market that we now enjoy by virtue of our more powerful military, particularly our navy.   Walker was an unrepentant slaver who wanted to turn the Caribbean into a 'Golden Circle' of slavery.  Vanderbilt?  Well, look at the history of Vanderbilt's Chancellor, Harvie Branscomb, Sr.," said Butler.  "It's time for the Newseum to come clean," said Butler, "and to admit that the media is a boiling sludge pot of seriously mixed motives and ambitions not all of which are concerned about the furtherance of free speech and enlightened living.  The Roosevelts may have been a part of these U.S. insider's China Trading mercantilism, but they were unrepentant.....both Teddy and FDR.....populists who challenged the fascists without aligning with the commies," said Butler who admitted that Smedley Darlington Butler was as disillusioned with Teddy's "Yankee imperialism" as he was with the National City Bank gang for being their "goon on three continents."

    Butler has noted that after the Civil War Texas was occupied by Union troops, primarily the Buffalo Soldiers, black troops domiciled on the Nassau-Waldec Plantation near Round Top, Texas, a German plantation today owned by the Rather family.   "The plantation used the oversight of brothers Morgan and Giles Smith who operated out of Galveston, Texas and both having fought on for the Union during the Civil War to control in Reconstruction the Texas politics after the Civil War.  Both Morgan Lewis Smith and his brother, Giles Alexander Smith fought at the critical opening battle of the Civil War, Fort Donelson, and under William Tecumseh Sherman at Vicksburg and the March to the Sea....critical battles in destroying the South's rail ambitions to the Pacific. It's as if they damn well knew how to control the old Jefferson Davis highway from Savannah to San Diego that the rail road barons wanted so badly and to prevent it from becoming the preferred route to the China Traders' with their desire to control the route to the Pacific's opium, silk and spice trade," said Butler who claims that some of her family members were part of the Elder-Butler post-Civil War feud in Texas.

     “Tell that to Gary Webb,” said Butler.   “Tell it to the family of Pat Tillman or Jessica Lynch who found that the Department of Defense had in a Washington paper, the Washington Post, an ally in its metro-editor, Vernon Loeb, who approved the front-page debacle of that Washington Post’s propaganda on the Tillman friendly fire….if it was friendly fire given his outspoken criticism of the war….or of Jessica Lynch’s falsified rescue.    Tell it to General David Petraeus whose life was torn apart when Vernon Loeb and co-writer of Petraeus’ biography, Paula Broadwell, wrote All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.   I say that the Hoover Institute at Stanford should donate the diary of Joseph Goebbels to the Newseum so that the American people can really see what is going on here.  Never mind that Al Jazeera is domiciled at the Newseum Center.    Where is Loeb now?  In Houston at the Houston Chronicle,  from whose competitor, the Houston Post, came the author of The Mafia, the CIA and George Bush and a tightly documented analysis of just how the CIA, the Mafia, George Bush and the 1980’s S&L scandal and the Iran-Contra network had the same cast of characters….an observation not wasted by Gary Webb who used that information in Texas to prove his story in California.  Where was the Washington journalism establishment in supporting these two fine reporters?    Skewering them!   The Washington Post’s Woodward and Bernstein who saw Watergate as far worse than Iran-Contra would learn that the editor of their story, All The Presidents Men, made into another Hollywood snow job by Robert Redford, would find their editor, Alice Mayhew, jerked from editing the powerful The Mafia, CIA and George Bush in 1991 just before the 1992 Bush/Clinton/Perot election.  Who would come down mercilessly on Gary Webb’s 1996 revelations in Dark Alliance?   Vernon Loeb’s colleagues at the Washington Post, Jeff Leen and Steve Coll….with Coll now the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism at Columbia in New York and the head of the journalism department where the mass media department is educated in methods of  “applied sociology” and the mass-manipulation techniques of Robert Merton, father of the man who invented the Black-Scholes credit default formulas that tanked the U.S. economy in 2008 and led to the worst rape of the U.S. since the 1929 stock market crash and the disgraceful period of bamboozling from 1999-2008,” said Butler.  “It’s all bull shit folks and it’s bad for you,” concluded Ms. Butler who noted that the price of oil in 2008 sky-rocketed to $150 per barrel in the midst of the war and financial crisis and to the profit of the world's oil companies.

On October 16th the Robert Redford and James Vanderbilt film based on Mary Mapes' book TRUTH AND DUTY will open nationwide.

Viewers will need to ask several questions of TRUTH, the name of the film:

• Why didn't Mary Mapes who knew of the story in 1999 inform the nation of it then or in 2000 during the Bush/Gore election?  What reason could possibly be given to prevent a major media outlet like CBS from pouncing on the story in an important election year even if Mapes was unable for professional or personal reasons for not reporting the story.
• How much weight is given to the testimony of Mrs. Marian Carr Knox?  Knox typed the original memos in 1972 and was interviewed by Rather in 2004 so how much weight is given in the Redford/Vanderbilt film to her validation of the accuracy of the contents of the falsified memos and does the film present the introduction of the falsified memos  as a "logical" means of managing the potential PR crisis for the Bush political empire by convoluting the argument?
• How well is the Dick Thornburgh and Louis Boccardi visit to Mrs. Marian Carr Knox covered and with their discrediting of Mrs. Knox's testimony and her son's reported affirmations of the truth of her original testimony?  Is Patrick Carr's place in the story covered at all?
• Who was the Patrick Carr whose body was found in his burned out Ford Bronco near Ellington Field on December 10, 2000 just two days before the 2000 Presidential election was settled by the U.S. Supreme Court and why was he murdered?
•  Is the fact that Dan Rather and Donald Rumsfeld co-owned a 9,000 acre ranch in Las Vegas, New Mexico mentioned in the film?  That Rumsfeld owned Misery Plantation in Maryland where Frederick Douglass was tortured or that the Rather family in Texas owns the historic Nassau-Waldec Plantation where the original Buffalo Soldiers were domiciled in Texas?
• Does the film mention that both Mapes and Rather won a Peabody Award for their "breaking" the story of Iraq's Abu Ghraib Prison scandal in 2004 when it was Amnesty International that broke the story in 2003?
• Does the film mention that also at CBS was Lowell Bergman who wrongly covered the 1988 death of Salem Bin Laden in Cibolo, Texas saying that he was flying his BAC-111 jet instead of an ultra-light or that Salem owned the Houston Gulf Manor Airport near Ellington Field and that the purchase was made by the Saudi royal banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz, with the help of Bush's Air National Guard roommate, Jim Bath?  Does TRUTH mention that Salem Bin Laden's Houston airport was razed after the 2001 World Trade Center attack of 911?
• How does the film handle the testimony of General Belasarius Flores who confirmed the essence of the original Killian memos that Marion Carr Knox typed?
• Is Marion Carr Knox's testimony from September 2004 that aired on 60 Minutes repeated in any form in Truth?  Why not?
• Does the film mention that Rather worked for the Houston Chronicle whose competitor's reporter, Peter Brewton of the Houston Post, found his 1992 book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush, about the 1980's S&L scandal, its criminals and masterminds, intertwined with the Iran-Contra criminals while his book which was originally contracted with Simon & Schuster for publication and providing editor Alice Mayhew, editor of Woodward & Bernsteins' All The President's Men as Brewton's editor, but which was derailed during the Bush, Clinton and Perot election of 1992?  Does the Redford/Vanderbilt movie provide an epilogue stating that the Houston Chronicle's new managing editor, previously at the Washington Post, Vernon Loeb, who authored at the WP the falsified stories of Pat Tillman's death and Jessica Lynch's rescue and then co-authored with Paula Broadwell the book ALL IN:  THE EDUCATION OF GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS add to the difficulty in discerning what is and is not "truth"?  Does the film, TRUTH, mention that Loeb's boss at the Washington Post, Steve Coll, became the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism and head of the School of Journalism at Columbia University, New York or that Coll and his other reporter, Jeff Leen, discredited the work of the San Jose Mercury News' Gary Webb, author of Dark Alliance, whose work in California rested squarely on the previous work of Peter Brewton in Texas and which Webb specifically mentions in a debate with Jeff Leen just after the publication of Dark Alliance?  Gary Webb would die on December 10, 2004 the same day four years to the day of the death of the 23-year-old, Patrick Carr, who died near Ellington Field.   The medical examiner in Webb's case provided as unbelievable an assessment of the facts as that of the death in Texas of Patrick Carr....the same name as the son of Mrs. Marian Carr Knox (When the Houston/Harris County Medical Examiner's office became a symbol of local political corruption Michael Bromwich, leading prosecutor in the Iran-Contra investigation whose case stopped short of recommending impeachment of Reagan and GHWB, was imported to "clean up" the beleaguered office paid from confiscated drug money.  The indicted Iran-Contra co-conspirators were pardoned by GHWB, a move echoing Marian Carr Knox's criticism of GWB whom she said thought of himself as being "above the laws"). The 23-year-old Patrick Carr had just moved to Houston from Austin where he had worked for Ellas/Ranch 616/Rather Sweet, owned by the niece of Dan Rather, Rebecca Rather.  The boy's uncle was a fishing buddy of Jim Bath's business partner and Mayor of Kemah, Texas, William E. King.

On Feb. 15, 2015 after listening to Jeff Leen's debate with Gary Webb just after Webb's book Dark Alliance was published and hearing Webb reference his conversation with Peter Brewton, Patrick Carr's father sent Leen the following letter copies out to Peter Brewton and to the people the father had known since high school.   Patrick's father had offered to meet with Leen, but not hearing back from him sent the following:

Alternatively, you could fly to Houston.  I could introduce to you the private investigator, Gregory Howard Walker, the U.S. Postal Inspector turned lawyer and security expert recommended to us by Bronislaw Mogenis, Lockheed Martin's security advisor, and his daughter to find for us the last person our son saw that night.....Careen.....which Walker took six months to find, was not the right one, charged us thousands and then became the head of airport security for Bush International, Hobby and Ellington Airports.  Julie Mogenis, a Houston judge and former FBI agent like her father was nearly killed in a rare hunting accident in Utopia, Texas....no Utopia here, my friend.
 

We can visit the Fire Department that responded to the call on December 10, 2000 and ask William E. King, Jim Bath's lawyer and partner in Southwest Airport Services just why he and his associates at Bracewell & Giuliani are seeking to privatize the fireman's pension fund.
 

I can take you to visit the boat that our son was on that night....a boat owned by Halliburton executive William R. Breland, sold to his son-in-law, Thomas Hajecate, who was indicted and convicted in Operation Lone Star that had been used in money laundering and capital flight.....in the textbook by Professor Ingo Walter at Columbia University, The Secret Money Market, 1990.  I can show you the Bin Laden's airport site that is now a subdivision and the house along the tarmac I tracked to parties from the boat that night.  We can go to Dallas and put to Buck Revell why the FINCEN investigation went dormant in 1991-92!

I can show you the photos of Patrick's uncle fishing with William E. King in Alaska and his denials that he knows him!

 

I can show you.....well....there's so much.....you'll be writing a corrective to your article on Webb and praying to whatever journalistic deity you worship for less transparency or forgiveness!

     Additionally, the FinCEN Investigation, the FBI's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network was investigating William E. King's business partner, James Reynolds Bath, in 1992 because he was a director of the Bank of Commerce and Credit International or BCCI often referred to those investigating the Iran-Contra scandal as the "Bank of Crooks and Criminals". 
     In 1992 the investigation into Bath's business dealings essentially received a "stand down" order.  The Houston Chronicle covered the story, but did not delve into just why so little was subsequently done with FinCEN investigation.  Today a number of online sites chronicle the great work of FinCEN and its year-to-year accomplishments, but without discussing the BCCI and Iran-Contra connections.

Houston Chronicle June 4 1992:
"Federal authorities are investigating the activities of a Houston businessman -- a past investor in companies controlled by a son of President Bush -- who has been accused of illegally representing Saudi interests in the United States. The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network -- known as FinCEN -- and the FBI are reviewing accusations that entrepreneur James R. Bath guided money to Houston from Saudi investors who wanted to influence U.S. policy under the Reagan and Bush administrations, sources close to the investigations say. FinCEN, a division of the U.S. Department of Treasury, investigates money laundering. Special agents and analysts from various law enforcement agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Customs Service, are assigned to work with the FinCEN staff. The federal review stems in part from court documents obtained through litigation by Bill White, a former real estate business associate of Bath. White contends the documents indicate that the Saudis were using Bath and their huge financial resources to influence U.S. policy. Such representation by Bath would require that he be registered as a foreign agent with the U.S. Department of Justice. In general, people required by law to be registered are those who represent a foreign entity seeking to influence governmental action or policy.
     An Annapolis graduate and former Navy fighter pilot, White, 46, claims that Bath and the judicial system, under the veil of national security, have blackballed him professionally and financially because he has refused to keep quiet about what he regards as a conspiracy to secretly funnel Saudi dollars to the United States. White became entangled in a series of lawsuits and countersuits with Bath, who for some six years has prevailed in the courts. White says the legal action has financially devasted him and Venturcorp Inc., the real estate development company in which he and Bath were partners. In sworn depositions, Bath said he represented four prominent Saudis as a trustee and that he would use his name on their investments. In return, he said, he would receive a 5 percent interest in their deals. (George W.) Bush said that to his knowledge, Bath's investment was from personal funds, and no Saudi money was invested in Arbusto. Bath, 55, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, declined to comment for the record. Spokesmen for FinCEN and the FBI also declined to comment. According to a 1976 trust agreement, drawn shortly after Bush was appointed director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Saudi Sheik Salem M. Binladen appointed Bath as his business representative in Houston.
     Binladen, along with his brothers, owns Binladen Brothers Construction, one of the largest construction companies in the Middle East. According to White, Bath told him that he had assisted the CIA in a liaison role with Saudi Arabia since 1976. Bath has previously denied having worked for the CIA. In a sworn deposition, Bath said he was the sole director of Skyway Aircraft Leasing Ltd., a company that a court document shows is owned by Khaled bin Mahfouz. Bin Mahfouz had been a major shareholder in the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, a banking empire that has been accused of money laundering and of using Mideast oil money to seek ties to political leaders in several countries. Mahfouz and his family own the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia. In 1990, Bath bought the Express Auto Park garage at Hobby Airport for $8.4 million, which included a $1.4 million loan provided by Mahfouz, according to transaction documents. Bath received a 5 percent interest in the companies that own and operate Houston Gulf Airport after purchasing it on behalf of Binladen in 1977. After Binladen died in 1988, his interests in the airport were taken over by Mahfouz, according to court documents.

     A key figure in the world's largest banking scandal is participating in an attempt to take control of a major city of Houston aviation contractor, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court here. National Commercial Bank-Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (NCB), which is controlled by the family of Sheik Khalid Bin Mahfouz, has claimed rights to 90 percent of the outstanding shares of Southwest Airport Services, according to documents accompanying the lawsuit filed by Sandra C. Bath, president of Southwest Airport Services.
     Southwest Airport Services provides fuel and other services for general aviation aircraft at the city-owned Ellington Field. The company also provides fuel to NASA and transient military aircraft, and to Air Force One, the president's plane, when it comes to Houston. Bath filed the lawsuit against the bank and her former husband, James R. Bath, a local entrepreneur.
     "Mr. Mahfouz, as owner of National Commercial Bank, hopes to accommodate Mr. Bath's desire to assume control of Southwest Airport Services Inc., and treat it as his personal piggy-bank as he has done over the preceding several years,'' says the lawsuit.



     Jerry Urban, another Houston Chronicle reporter, would cover on June 4, 1992 in the article "FBI Investigates Entrepreneur Allegedly Tied to Saudis," in which Urban essentially covers the "stand down" order on the investigation of GWB's National Guard roommate.  Urban wrote:

     Bath , 55, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, declined to comment for the record. Spokesmen for FinCEN and the FBI also declined to comment.

     According to a 1976 trust agreement, drawn shortly after Bush was appointed director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Saudi Sheik Salem M. Binladen appointed Bath as his business representative in Houston. Binladen, along with his brothers, owns Binladen Brothers Construction, one of the largest construction companies in the Middle East.

     According to White, Bath told him that he had assisted the CIA in a liaison role with Saudi Arabia since 1976. Bath has previously denied having worked for the CIA.

Bath received a 5 percent interest in the companies that own and operate Houston Gulf Airport after purchasing it on behalf of Binladen in 1977. After Binladen died in 1988, his interests in the airport were taken over by Mahfouz, according to court documents.

 

     Urban fails to mention that Bath's new business partner Saudi Sheik Salem M. Binladen, Ossama's older brother, died in 1988 in Cibolo, Texas in an inexplicable crash of an ultra-light airplane at an airport flying what CBS 60 Minutes' star reporter, Lowell Bergman, known for his role in The Insider, reported was Salem's BAC-111 jet.   Bergman's story corrected the glaring error, but when?   Patrick Carr, received a phone call from a "friend" shortly before his death whose family owns property next to the Cibolo, Texas airport where Salem died, an airport now owned by a retired head of the National Reconnaissance Office and Commander of Offuts Air Force Base.

     As Jeff Leen's attack on Gary Webb disclosed and as the general disregard for the testimony of former CIA agents like John Robert Stockwell make clear, there is a veil of secrecy that is protected by the U.S. mainline media.   Mary Mapes and Dan Rather's 2004 "Memogate" story seems to be taking on that veil of secrecy, but at a deeper level their actions supported it.  While there have been some like Columbia University  grad and Yale University insider, Alfred W. McCoy, author of The Politics of Heroin in Southeast Asia (1972) which became the 2nd Edition, The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity in the Global Drug Trade (1991), who provide a type of pressure release valve to journalists like Coll, Loeb, Leen and others who  can point to their work as evidence that there has been no lack of stories on CIA participation in the drug trade, even this acts as firewall to the dark alliances by pushing back the evidence into the distant past while serious investigative reporters like Webb and Brewton took on the immediacy of the story and paid the price.   Brewton's story did not connect the dots to the drug trade as did Webb, however, put together their stories were a lightening bolt for which they would not received as many accolades as has Alfred W. McCoy who has received Yale's Wilbur Lucus Cross Medal, but then their reporting was significantly more pedestrian and volatile disallowing for the management of the storyline upon which the mainline media depends as a tool of propaganda. 

     Front line reporters like Gary Webb of the San Jose Mercury News and Bill Steward of ABC who differed from Webb only in the fact that his murder was caught on camera, pay the heaviest price for defending the U.S. Fourth Estate.  Others are rewarded as "evidence" that "responsible" reporting is carried out by highly decorated academicians, while reporters like Webb or Steward die.    As a corrective to this well-managed worldview which the mainline media protects, readers need to be reminded that Henry Kissinger received a Nobel Peace Prize while Robert Merton whose Black Scholes formulas tanked the U.S. economy in 2008 received a Nobel Prize for economics.

    Increasingly people are turning to open source reporting for the truth.  For example, open source reporting has become a valuable tool for understanding why in 1992 the FinCEN investigation into James Reynolds Bath's (GWB's Air National Guard Roommate)  relationship to the Saudi royal banker, Khalid Bin Mahfouz, was largely abandoned by the U.S. law enforcement entities also investigating the BCCI or Bank of Commerce and Credit International scandal.

    From this open source reporting the processes of imperial propaganda can be clearly seen.  For example, the history of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt which spawned Al Qaeda as freedom fighters for the Afghans against the Russians which ultimately backfired in 911 found the American University in Cairo thriving under the protection of Hosni Mubarak.  One of BCCI's other leading personalities, Kamal Adham, funded the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism in 1985.  While Kamal Adham was convicted in the BCCI scandal, later in 2008 he was given a lucrative contract to supply jet fuel for the U.S. forces in Afghanistan.  The American University of Cairo is a private university whose President is Lisa Anderson, the former James Shotwell Professor of International Relations at Columbia University, the bastion of applied psychology and sociology in the U.S. where Steve Coll, formerly Jeff Leen's and Vernon Loeb's editor at the Washington Post, had become the Henry Luce Professor of Journalism and Dean of the Columbia Journalism School.   Passing through the halls of Cairo's American University was fellow Pulitzer Prize winner with Steve Coll, Lawrence Wright, author of The Looming Tower about 911 and which avoids the toughest questions related to the entire 911 catastrophe.  Wright had worked for the U.S. State Department at the United Nations when George Herbert Walker Bush was U.N.      When Mad Money's manic money man, Jim Cramer, appeared on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show in 2009 to have that appearance repeated the week of Jon Stewart's last week of The Daily Show on Thursday, August 6, 2015, it was a repeat of Cramer's hat in hand appearance to deliver an apology to the American people for his part in the bamboozling of the U.S. investor through the period of 1999 to 2007 that culminated in the Hank Paulson bailout in 2008.   The entire media sponsored event including Stewart's part was disingenuous according to economist Frederick M. Mellon.  Mellon believe that Stewart had pulled up short of really helping the American people.  "Cramer should have just said 'I'm a hedge fund manager.  What do you expect," said Mellon.

     "Societies and cultures are amoral.  Individuals living within them have an obligation to be so.  In the waters of life anything goes, but ethical, humanitarian ambitions provides a calming oil....a biodegradable and non-environmentally corrupting oil on potentially troubled waters.   Do oil and water mix?  No.  They never mix, except through periods of supreme agitation, but life on earth is brutal without the regulation of human-made limits and controls on run-away bamboozling .  This means, of course, that the simple implementation of a firewall between banking and investing that was implemented after the Great Depression in 1929 with the Glass-Steagall Act that was removed after the arrival of Ronald Reagan's chief economic charlatan, Milton Friedman, and the period of runaway deregulation that Bill Clinton signed into disorder with the 1999 repeal of Glass-Steagall provided for an artificial, devil-may-care 35 to 1 leveraging that Jim Cramer described on Stewart's show.  Clinton was as complicit in the corruption as Obama has been in the abandonment of his early campaign promise to correct the issues that face an empire in free fall as real as those facing the rise and fall of the Roman Empire," said Mellon. 
     "This period of deregulation was aided by the dark knights of disorder like son of Columbia University's leading sociologist, Robert Merton.  Mertons' son, also named Robert Merton, of Harvard and MIT, provided what his teacher, uncle of Lawrence Summers, Paul Samuelson, said was the bizarre financial metrics-dogma of Black-Scholes that ushered in the unimaginable Frankensteinish, devilish credit default formulas that provided MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Cramer and other financial charlatans of the major media outlets and newspapers.... a clear deception based on the new mind science manipulation methods of Robert Merton's "applied sociology" which severed the nation of its long-term memory.  This same mind science used was by Madison Avenue across town to push the housing bubble on the American bimbos nurturing a nation that forgets its past so that it is doomed to repeat it as Santayana said."


     Mellon by-in-large believes that such laws and regulations are unnecessary in a world where people practice a universal "Golden Rule".  "Unfortunately in an imperfect world we rely on the rule of law around which the snakes slither....and slither they do!  Remember....if it slithers it's a snake!"
     "Did either George W. Bush, Obama, Cramer or Stewart encourage the replacement of Glass-Steagall so that, at least, the snakes would have to slither harder?  Nope!  The whole show is therefore a big disingenuous and continuing game in my opinion. Caveat Emptor!" said Mellon.
    Few within the judicial system have followed through in recreating the Glass-Steagall firewall that protected the public from the what Mellon calls the "parasitic, microbes of the credit default swaps," but he did site an article by Lohman Willy titled Judge Rekoff's Recking Ball as an example of a "movement in the right direction."

     The upcoming Sony Classic  movie, Truth, based on the book by Mary Mapes, Truth and Duty starring Robert Redford as Dan Rather, Cate Blanchett as Mary Mapes, Elizabeth Moss as Lucy Scott and Lady Beth Incognito as Ellington Field Commander Colonel Jerry Killian’s secretary, Marian Carr Knox, upon whose typing of the original memos the entire Rather/Mapes/CBS 60 Minutes story was based and who worked at the Texas Air National Guard training base from 1957 to 1979, is showing glaring signs of a John Ford or Joseph Goebbels media makeover.

     “There is no Lady Beth Incognito is there?” asked a reporter for the periodical Flim Flam in Films.  “No," said media myth-spin-watcher at the Plath Institute for Poetic Justice, Seymore  Hearses.  "The single most important person in the Rathergate story is not on the list of credits of the film's cast....the person who typed the memos upon which the whole story was based.  Bizarre, isn’t it?  I don’t even find Colonel Jerry Killian’s character in the film either.  How can that story be told without the key players dramatized and I’m not talking Mapes, Rather or Scott?” asked Hearses who has registered his concern that American actors are completely complicit and compromised in their lack of curiosity about the stories they are willing to spin for a hefty salary.

 

The cast missing Killian and Knox?  It's the gall damn-dest thing I've ever seen.  It would be like re-telling the story of Moby Dick without Ahab, Queequig, Starbuck or Ismael.  Redford getting senile?  Or was this all Rather and Redford's well-paid swan song? -Seymore Hearses

     “Take Redford’s understudy, Brad Pitt, moulded as he was for his movie roles by his early associations with Redford in the film A River Runs Through It.     Well, a sewer ran through the recent Pitt film Fury in which Pitt normalizes the blatant disregard for the Geneva Conventions with the brutal execution-style murder of a captured German soldier during World War II that helped to normalize killing for a piss-ant rookie who had no balls,” said Hearses.    
       Hearses was even more outspoken about Pitt’s part in promoting what he called “consent for war”.   At the premier of Pitt’s spam-in-a-can tank story that had nothing of Sahara’s plot and power…..and you have to remember that Humphrey Bogart starred in The Harder They Fall which challenged the brutality of the professional fight-game bamboozle, Pitt pumps us with the normalization of mindless brutality.  Did General Colin Powell or General G.W. Casey take the high ground and criticize Pitt's part in the putrid performance....‘Blow a big hole in that Nazi’s back,’” said Hearses.   “Classy!”
      Now, coming from Redford is the half-baked story of Dan Rather’s 2004 stab at GWB’s Texas Air National Guard record that had Hunter S. Thompson taking aim at the son of GHWB and the “silver foot in his mouth,” opponent of Texas Governor Ann Richards.  Hearses noted that the entire story of Truth and Duty that Mapes knew about in 1999 a year before the fateful 2000 Presidential election that opened the floodgates of the U.S. “Bushwacking” with the 1999 repeal of Glass-Steagal that brought on Enron, World-Com and even the 2008 financial meltdown seven years into the “yellow cake” bamboozle and we see why Hunter S. Thompson….for all of his over-the-wall lunacy….had apparently finally seen the light when he wrote in Kingdom of Fear:

     Of course, Hunter Thompson was wrong about a traditional definition of the Ku Klux Klan.  George W. Bush may be associated with an anglophile element of U.S. power elites associated with an unrepentant Tory element that followed the ethics of Albert Pike and who were at the heart of the 1930's Fascist "Business Plotters", but this group was hardly just a Southern residual of disenfranchised citizens left over from the Civil War.  In fact, the entire U.S. Civil War was a sham that used the high moral ground of abolition of slavery to fuel the rush of the railroad to the Pacific and the poppy fields of the Middle East and the Chinese silks, spices and other products for which the opiates were traded.  But in essence Thompson was dead on.
      “Will the premier of Truth be like Fury at the Newseum in Washington D.C.?” asked Hearses.   “The 400 million dollar shrine to the death of the Fourth Estate is ironically home to Al Jezeera, the Arab language media company that bought Al Gore’s television station from its hefty oil-economy based backers.  We see here why the CIA Director, Alan Dulles, said ‘Americans don’t read.’   Which is just how actors can be recruited to spin the half-truths that are sold as Truth.  Al Jezeera, not so ironically is domiciled in Qatar, the location of the U.S. military's forward leadership in the region where any Arab affiliated media is as likely to be an arm of the U.S. Information Agency as Prince Bandar Bush's favorite Saudi channels.
     Especially troubling to Hearses is the fact that Dan Rather, while taking aim at GWB, was also a close friend and business partner with former Secretary of Defense and architect of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, Donald Rumsfeld who made his big financial killings in the development of Aspartame and Tamiflu.   “Yea,” said Hearses, “The guy from the Vietnam War era with Cheney, Kissinger and McNamara whom Nixon called ‘That ruthless little bastard.’   Did these guys get Rather into his news gathering position in Nam like he is on the front row of the Ellington Field story like a Samsung clothes washer on ultra-spin?  Who is playing Boccardi and Thornburgh in Truth?  Hummmm? Rummy and Rather owned a nine thousand acre ranch in New Mexico and Rummy also owned Misery Plantation where Frederick Douglass was 'renditioned' before being sent back into slavery.   Ask Amy Goodwin.  Rather's cousin, Rebecca Rather, co-owns the mineral rights on the historic Nassau-Waldec Plantation near Rick Perry's new home in Round Top, Texas....all right there in the Fayette County tax records.  Nassau/Waldec was home for a while after the Civil War to the Buffalo Soldiers on their way to help clear the Indians out of the West like our soldiers are doing from the oil rich Middle East while alternative energy development is under house arrest like Copernicus and Galileo.  Man, you cannot get this stuff from watching Robert Redford and James Vanderbilt or Brad Pitt movies while chugging your high fructose Coke and pushing in the buttered popcorn," said Hearses.  "Perry, whose home is not far from Waller County where the ex-Governor wisely does not call his Round Top home Niggerhead Ranch,  is only fifty miles from where Prairie View A&M's new employee, Sandra Bland, was found hung in the Waller County jail, in a county where the current sheriff was last opposed by a black police officer from Katy, Texas in Harris County whose major support came from students and faculty from Prairie View A&M" said Hearses.

     “You think that Rummy is anywhere in Robert Redford’s Truth?  Like Marian Carr Knox, Louis Boccardi, Dick Thornburgh or Knox's son, Patrick Carr, who when she declined after her visit with Associated Press' Boccardi and Bush consigliore, Dick Thornburgh,  to re-affirm the story she recorded in Rather's CBS interview.....the essence of Rather and Mapes' case.....Patrick Carr's mother would strangely not re-confirm?  How odd!  So Patrick, her son,  did it for her, but Mrs. Knox, Rather, Mapes and CBS could have done it in 2000 when it would have really made a huge difference! All of these together in 2000 are like GWB in 1972, and Rummy, too, AWOL from Truth,” said Hearses.  "Redford must be hiding them out with the Hole-In-The-Wall Gang," said Hearses, "Or with Tom Booker, The Horse Whisperer, in some remote location in Montana, while Mr. Vanderbilt is saying nothing about Cornelius' long-time battle with William Walker over a Golden Circle of Slavery in the Caribbean and their well documented fight over a canal across Central America.....all nicely hidden behind the Monroe Doctrine," said Hearses noting that William Walker's biggest backer at the time was President Franklin Pierce, ancestor of Barbara Pierce Bush.
       A year ago Variety's Dave McNary warned the public it was coming, "but who would have thunk it was so literally and clearly a history-twister just before the upcoming 2016 election," said  Hearses.  McNary wrote in the July 9, 2014 Variety article on the Redford film: James Vanderbilt, who wrote Zodiac" and both "The Amazing Spider-Man" scripts, will make his directorial debut along with writing and producing through his Mythology Entertainment banner along with Brad Fischer, William Sherak and Mikkel Bondesen.

     Temporary custodial worker at Sirius Radio who was mopping the halls on the day of April 7, 2014 when Howard Stern and Dan Rather agreed that they would not talk about George Walker Bush's legacy nor the memos that became the source of contention between CBS News and their long-time anchor man, could not keep silent.

    "Si," said Montoya, "Senior Rather say no questions about memos or he vamanos.   Senior Stern say 'no problema'."

     Coupled with the fact that Rather's CBS producer, Mary Mapes, had learned of the story of GWB's Texas Air National Guard record back in 1999 that cost Rather his job at CBS in 2005 and could have been used in the 2000 election between Vice President Al Gore and Texas Governor George W. Bush, Fabian Colbachi, an outspoken critic of CBS's handling of the story said "it's all b.s. folks and it's bad for you."

     Colbachi contends that the avoidance of the story in 2000 was a clear example of what Noam Chomsky call "building consent for war."   "Rather was CBS's golden boy and had cut his teeth on the unnecessary Vietnam War.  Having worked at the Houston Chronicle whose newest managing editor is Vernon Loeb whose experience at bamboozling the nation toward war is seen in his work at the Washington Post where he provided the twisting of the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch stories before turning to Paula Broadwell to write with her All In:   The Education of General David Petraeus and you begin to see the depth of U.S. journalism's heart of darkness," said Colbachi who doubts that Carlos Montoya is a real person.  "That testimony may be as cooked up as the fact that Rather was an innocent outside voice looking in and  not well-connected to the mastermind of the Abu Ghraib scandal, the owner of Maryland's Misery Plantation and co-owner with Rather of the Tecolote Ranch in Las Vegas, New Mexico," said Colbachi.

     "This Rather/Rumsfeld marriage and now Rather/Stern silence continues the policy coup that General Wesley Clark explained was the Neo-Con's mission post-2000.....the racket of war," said Colbachi.

One anonymous reviewer of the Stern interview echoed Colbachi's concerns:

     Mary Mapes says in Truth and Duty that she became aware of the GWB National Guard memos in 1999.  Why didn't she and Dan Rather bring that story to the nation before 2000 instead of 2004.....before the 1999 repeal of Glass-Steagall when the floodgates were opened for the big Bush bamboozle of the economy and phony war that has cost the nation over $4 trillion.  Have Rather back on and answer that question before he's dead, Howard, or is this part of a U.S./Israeli agenda or an Allen Dorfman-type assault on reasoned regulation of the hog-wild business, government and media madhouse?

     With the arrival in 2015 of Robert Redford's new movie TRUTH based on the Mapes book about the 2004 GWB memos and Brad Pitt's recent film FURY which is little more than war porn and a Joseph Goebbels-type propaganda film that premiered at Washington D.C.'s new cathedral to journalism, the Newseum, where General Colin Powel and General G.W. Casey, both in attendance failed to address the films' blatant example of the disregard for the Geneva Conventions and we are witnessing just why Dan Rather and Donald Rumsfeld were co-owners of a ranch in New Mexico where they got their jollies killing exotic game.

    "I would like to have heard Rather tell us just why the 1988 death of Osama Bin Laden's older brother, Salem Bin Laden, in an ultra-light airplane accident at Cibolo, Texas in which the seasoned jet pilot inexplicably flew into a high power line was reported by 60 Minutes' celebrated fact-finder, Lowell Bergman, wrongly.  Flat out wrong!   Bergman did a documentary for PBS that claimed the accident was in Salem's BAC-111 twin engine jet and not an ultra-light.....a story that was never corrected," said Colbachi.  "Pretty strange considering that Bergman was considered the white knight in the slaying of the Big Tobacco dragon," Colbachi reasoned.

     Colbachi strongly asserted that Vernon Loeb's senior editor at the Washington Post, Steve Coll, went on to become the Henry Luce Professor and Dean of the Journalism Department at Columbia University and that another of Loeb's colleagues and Coll's journalism lieutenants at the Washington Post, Jeff Leen, had "thrown Gary Webb under the bus when he came out with his 1996 book, Dark Alliance:  The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion.  "Webb had built his case on the prior work of the Houston Chronicle's rival reporter at the Houston Post, Peter Brewton, whose 1992 book, The Mafia, CIA and George Bush: Corruption, Greed and Abuse of Power in the Nation's Highest Office had been derailed by Simon & Schuster on whose board was Bush buddy, Hugh Leidtke.   "What you see in this handling of the Bush memos by Rather and Mapes, the shelving of the story until it can do no harm to the planned rape of the nation and export of war, is in essence the neutering of the time honored Fourth Estate without which we are a ship without a rudder headed to the crags and rocks of an unredeemable legacy.   Another bright and shinning city on a hill sliding down the slopes beneath the mush of unsupportable assumptions atop the covering over of inconvenient realities and lies.  Bend over America!" concluded Colbachi.

    With the 2016 elections in view and the James Vanderbilt directed Robert Redford film Truth in post production and awaiting its premiere eyes are returning again to the Bush elections of 2000 and 2004.
    Based on the book by Mary Mapes titled Truth and Duty: The Press, The President and the Privilege of Power (St. Martins Press, 2005) that covered the GWB Air National Guard memos from his Vietnam War era enlistment there is, along with Redford's movie, a new online interest picking up for the explosive 2004 story covered by Mary Mapes and Dan Rather for CBS News.
     The George W. Bush Air National Guard records and the 2004 CBS story about those records cost both Mapes and Rather their jobs at CBS in 2005 after a CBS sponsored investigation by former Pennsylvania Governor and former U.S. Attorney General, Richard Thornburgh and Louis D. Boccardi, retired CEO of the Associated Press.

"The 2004 Mary Mapes and Dan Rather story and by way of association the upcoming Robert Redford/James Vanderbilt film, Truth, looks to me like a giant piece of political propaganda.  One giant slithering smegma lathered copulative assembly.  A journalistic groin-gavotte-bacchanalia-saturnia-bender," said Fracon.

     Oddly, Dan Rather and Bush consigliore at the Defense Department, Donald Rumsfeld, who owned the Baltimore plantation where abolitionist Frederick Douglass was tortured before he was returned to slavery was also a business partner with Dan Rather in a 10,000 acre ranch in New Mexico about forty miles outside of Santa Fe where Cormac McCarthy, whose character, Judge Holden, in Blood Meridian claimed "War is God." McCarthy's film No Country for Old Men was filmed in Las Vegas, New Mexico where the Rather/Rumsfeld ranch is located. 
     According to archeologist Thomas Layton's 1999 book, Voyage of the Frolic: New England Merchants and the Opium Trade (Stanford University Press), Frederick Douglass was also known as Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey who worked in the Baltimore ship building yard that made the fastest opium clippers for the New England Brahmins.  "Yea, the Frolic which wrecked in 1850 in Mendocino County, California and held all kinds of records for speed," said one naval architect from Mystic Connecticut, Homer S. Winslow.
     "When you note that the Boston Brahmins were front and center to the work of George Luther Stearns' and his attempts to corner the bullet market and that he was a "secret six" supporter of abolitionist John Brown, Potawatomie Brown from Kansas and Harper's Ferry, or that the first black man used as a test case in the Fugitive Slave Laws that fueled consent for civil war worked at the Brown's Baltimore Merchant Shot Tower making musket balls, James Hamlet, and holy begeezies!   Now we can begin to understand Gary Webb's conversations with "Freeway" Ricky Ross in L.A.," said activist Earl Z. Fracon," and Jeff Leen and Steve Coll's attempts at the Washington Post to discredit Gary Webb's Dark Alliance.
     "Texas and the Bush memo story has been clearly managed, but which way?" asked another political whale watcher.  "When you consider that the Houston and Harris County Medical Examiner's office was in shambles during the early 2000's and that the "fixer-upper" was Michael Bromwich, the firewaller in the Iran-Contra case or that the Sidley Austin law firm took the lead in the pro-torture/renditioning debate (for torture) who knows exactly what we are dealing with? And now you can understand why Vernon Loeb, Steve Coll's golden boy spin meister at the Washington Post is now the managing editor at the Houston Chronicle after having dropped on us the lies about Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch and co-writing with Paula Broadwell the book All In: The Education of General David Petraeus," he continued noting that not only was Petraeus married to the daughter of a U.S. Marine Corp Commandant, but had his punctured lung from a shooting accident at Fort Campbell, Kentucky patched by Bush buddy, Dr. William Frist from Nashville, Tennessee.  "Talking about traumatic preparation for unswerving performance!  I'd faint in front of Congress, too!"
     "Clearly there are those out there that are concerned that to reopen the floodgate of political power to another Bush at this critical time in U.S. history is to find us returning to a regurgitated pile of putrid prevarications unbecoming of the greatest nation in the world history," said Luther Copernicus Sagan and Earl Z.      In June 2015, California theater director Rob Melrose directed the play Misery Plantation: A Comedy of Enhanced Interrogation that featured Donald Rumsfeld mentoring the ghost of Frederick Douglass.... Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey.  "I think the play needs a Part II," said Fracon.  "I'd call it Don and Dan Wise Old Owls Down On the Tecolote Ranch."

Trumping History Or Repeating It?

      With the arrival of billionaire casino builder, bankruptcy advocate, reality TV personality and  urban gentrifier, Donald Trump, in the 2016 political fray, people are making the comparison to the 1992 arrival of third party candidate H. Ross Perot.

     “Ah, Trump is no Perot.   Perot was USN.  Successfully extracted his company’s employees held hostages by Iran, had his pulse on the U.S. business sell-out and the giant sucking sound of American jobs going overseas.  Today, Perot is a shadow of his former self sitting in his former company's lunch room near a wall that bullets his visionary accomplishments while run by a group of MBA's from India.  You don’t think Trump would sell out Americans if goods could be made by Third World slave labor?  Go think again,” said Barney Balboa of Flint, Michigan.

     “If the Republicans close ranks and back JEB Bush there is no guarantee that there won’t be a revisit of Bush family bamboozling in Texas, Florida and world-wide as the irresponsible steam rollers that rumbled into Washington on the back of Bill Clinton’s 1999 reversal of the Glass-Stegall Act, the arrival of Bin Laden backed attack on the WTC in New York…..from within their circle of their beloved Saudi oligarchs, the invasion of Iraq and a war that mophed from a $60 billion war to a $4-plus trillion dollar war, and the 2008 financial meltdown that pumped oil prices up to nearly $150 a barrel for families heavily invested in both the S&L housing bubble of the 1980’s and the credit default bamboozle that led to the 2008 meltdown, not to mention oil.  I smell a stinky, putrid  Machiavellian, Reich-ish-Darwinian skunk in the kitchen,” said Balboa.

     Balboa pointed out that few Americans know or understand the depth of the flim-flam involved in the daily leadership of their nation.  He cited a recent reference to the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections and the behind the scenes issues that got us to where we are.  “I believe that 1992 was our last chance to change course.  In 2000 and 2004 the nation really slid down the slippery slope of no return,” said Balboa as he read a recent review of the 2004 election during which CBS newsman, Dan Rather and his producer Mary Mapes lost their jobs for covering the GWB Texas National Guard memos from Houston's Ellington Field and the secretary of GWB's commanding officer.  Balboa reproduced an Amazon.com online review of Rather’s book Rather Outspoken: My Life In News:

     The Marian Carr Knox memos were, according to former Texas Lieutenant Governor, Ben Barnes, available in 2000, but Gore didn't need them. I would like to see Rather do a follow up on just why his 2004 story remained in the wings in 2000. Also, why the pastor's son, Patrick Carr, same name as Marian Carr Knox's son who when Marian refused to retell the story affirmed her story to the media and why the other , the pastor's son was found burned to death in his Ford Bronco outside the CIA-linked Ellington Field not far from the Bin Laden owned Houston Gulf Manor Airport that was razed after 911. That Patrick Carr's last phone call was from a "friend" whose family owned property adjacent to the Cibolo, Texas ultralight airport where experienced jet pilot, Salem bin Laden, mysteriously flew into a high power line in 1988. The Houston Gulf Manor airport was bought by Khalid bin Mahfouz and Bush buddy, James R Bath, whose attorney and air fuel partner at Ellington, William E. King, was the fishing buddy of the pastor's son's uncle. The dead 23 year old had just moved to Houston from Austin where he had worked for the business partner of Rebecca Rather. Dan Rather gave Rebecca a great plug for her book and she is obviously well connected to the Rather's of Texas' Nassau/Waldec Plantation and to Houston restaurateur, Tony Vallone. There is a lot more here for Dan and Mary Mapes to tell us, but this book is a start! Be even more outspoken before November 2016, please!

Strangely, Dan Rather's ranching partner in the New Mexico's Tecolote or "Owl Ranch" about forty miles from Santa Fe, was also a partner in that venture with the owner of Maryland's Misery Plantation where Fred Bailey....also known as Frederick Douglass.....the abolitionist orator who according to the 1999 book by Thomas Layton, Voyage of the Frolic: New England Merchants and the Opium Trade (Stanford University Press) was employed in the Baltimore opium clipper building business and where he was "renditioned" before being returned to slavery in the South. The owner of both the Tecolote Ranch and Misery Plantation is former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. The Rather family's Nassau/Waldec Plantation in Texas is a German settlement where the Buffalo Soldiers initially worked after the Civil War. The Buffalo Soldiers' handlers in Texas, the Smith brothers, and their relationship to William Tecumseh Sherman are covered in the 2014 book, Sulfur Lead and Poppies, which clearly delineates the connections between Giles Alexander Smith's Buffalo Soldiers and his brother, Morgan Lewis Smith, who directed the Texas work of the Buffalo Soldiers through the Truehart-Adriance Building in Galveston, Texas. "Arriving in Texas for different reasons was Giles Alexander Smith. Giles' name appeared on the record pardoning of Richard King, founder of the King Ranch." It goes on to say of Giles' brother with both men fighting for the Union at Fort Donnelson in the Civil War in a type of family dialectic......"Morgan Lewis Smith found himself appointed Counsel to Hawaii in a direct line between San Francisco and the lucrative China Trade route to the silk, spices and opium of the Middle East and emerging 'Golden Triangle.'" The book also goes on to note the Tourtelotte letter of General William Tecumseh Sherman now domiciled at the University of Iowa that seems to indicate "a type of blackmail (of Sherman) by the daughters of Lewis Morgan Smith" (pp. 76-80).

Rekilling A Mockingbird

The Sheriff of Waller County, Texas where Sandra Bland reportedly hung herself using a trash bag when her pants or shirt would have provided a much stronger noose has been in explosive situations before.

In an October 24, 2008 Waller County election Houston Press' Paul Knight noted that Glen R. Smith had left Hempstead, Texas where he had resigned following a grenade prank that left one man footless.   Knight wrote:

There's a pretty interesting election going on for boss of the sheriff's department in Waller County, a mostly rural area on the western border of Harris County. The elected candidate will be the first new sheriff in two decades, because long-time sheriff Randy Smith is retiring. The candidates are:

 

- Jeron Barnett, a former Harris County deputy who works for the Katy Police Department. He was named the department's 2008 Crime Prevention Officer of the Year. If elected, Barnett will be the first black sheriff in Waller County.

- R. Glen Smith, a former police chief in Hempstead, fired earlier this year after a series of unfortunate events, including an always-dangerous grenade prank that resulted in an officer's foot being blown off. Two months after the firing, he was hired by the Waller County Sheriff's Department and secured the Republican nomination for sheriff.

     Maybe race isn't an issue these days, but considering a white/black cemetery debate in Waller County this summer, maybe it is. Barnett's father thinks so.  "I believe there will be some voter irregularities in this campaign," Donald Barnett, who is also serving as his son's campaign manager, tells Hair Balls. "This is the worst county that I have ever been to in my life, from Alabama to Wyoming."

     According to Donald, voter turn out for Jeron has been good so far, helped by the student population from Prairie View A&M, which recently resolved a voter rights lawsuit with Waller County. There have been a few vandalized Barnett campaign signs, but other than that, no real problems.

     "[Racism] has not been an issue in my presence, because I carry a 44-40 [pistol] or a double-barrel shotgun," Donald says. "I'm not going to let anybody bother me."

     Smith believes that his firing in Hempstead was not warranted, and he says the mayor had suggested that no action be taken by the city council. Race is a non-issue, Smith says, in the sheriff's campaign. "Most people are decent, conscientious people that are going to vote they think is the best person to be sheriff," he says. "Both of us are in it to make a difference in the county."

     Minnie Poz, a consultant for the Hand Grenade Safety Society of Fort Knox, Kentucky said that "Sheriff Smith's history of juggling hand grenades, if that was what he was doing, is a marker for a deeply disturbed personality.  I would want to know if Ms. Bland's return to Prairie View A&M that had a recent history of supporting Sheriff Smith's opponent, an African American from Katy who was a stellar performer without hand grenade juggling on his dossier had anything to do with the death of Ms. Bland.   In the end, with the Texas Ranger's own history of race issues, it will likely have to be the FEDS.....FBI....Justice Department and other agencies that will need to investigate just what happened to Ms. Bland.  It's a sad day all around," said Poz.  "I know that people think that the mythic Walker: Texas Ranger is something of a national hero, but just because the Texas Prison System with its leading prison in Walker County, Texas east of Waller County is seen as a leading defender of law and order, it may be hiding deeper issues of law and order and justice for some at the expense of others.  I once knew a family who was quite sure that the Texas Rangers were not interested in solving a Houston murder that they knew damn well was related to a pack of sniveling, lying drug dealers connected to the Iran-Contra case in Latin America.   One Texas Ranger asked them "did you see the drugs?"  When they said that they had not, even though the boat that their family member was on the night of his death was confiscated from key players in the Florida/Georgia/Texas Robert Vesco-related Operation Lone Star that fed the Contra pipeline, the Ranger dropped their case.  "Justice delayed is justice denied," said Poz.  Poz is also not confident that the FEDs will do the Bland case justice.  "When the Harris County Crime Lab was in shambles under an African American M.E., Dr. Joyce Carter, and skin color is no defense against corruption the county brought in Michael Bromwich to investigate.   He was the leading Iran-Contra investigator and firewaller in the Reagan/Bush Iran-Contra case that only netted Oliver North, John Poindexter, Casper Weinberger, Elliot Abrams and a few others," said Poz.
