"Doin' The Tighten Up" was the message of the R&B band Archie Bell and the Drells, but few who danced to the popular tune in the 60's understood the song's deeper significance, says band leader Archie Bell who after being wounded in Vietnam was permitted by the US Army to take the Drells on the road for the troops.
This revelation was revealed when Mr. Bell was asked what exactly is a Drell?
Bell said that..."I named the group after Sidney David Drell (born September 13, 1926) the American theoretical physicist and expert in arms control. A professor emeritus at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) and a fellow at the Hoover Institution, Drell is a major contributor to the field of quantum electrodynamics and particle physics. He identified the Drell-Yan process which is named after him and he was one of the winners of the 2000 Enrico Fermi Award."
The message of the Drells was clear..."tighten up all those loose weapons and turn swords into plowshares," said Archie Bell who since leaving the Drells in 1977 has been working on the assembly line at Bell Hellicopter's Apache plant in Fort Worth, Texas.

The truth may set you free, but finding the truth is like playing tennis. You don't get a hint of it until you've returned the volley about three or four times. The mainstream media counts on the masses never returning what's served up. Journalism today has become a caricature not unlike what Robert Lynd describes by saying "Research without an actively selective point of view is like the ditty bag of an idiot, filled with bits of pebbles, straw, feathers and other random hoardings."
